I met Tom Welling once in Manhattan back before the WB merger with UPN. I'm 5'10" and he was wearing a regular shoe. He really look to be around 6'2" or 6'3".

Sadly I have watched the show of and on and think the show has done a bad portray of the superman legacy. Only a few key shows do a good job.
Smalleville does not follow really any of what superman has done as a boy. But it is just a fiction based type TV show of a fiction based character.
Christopher Reeve has done the best job of playing the man of steel and no one else seems to eb able to put the cape on better then him or act liek the real clark kent.
In the Movie clark faces his destiny head on liek a real man. Not some crying wimp on the show who denies who he really is. Marlond Brando must be turning in his grave for the voice over from the man who played Genral zod.
To the point: I stand 6'4" and my frame is huge weighing in at 255 pounds ripped. I do not see that in Tom at all. He has a smaller frame for his body then someone at 6'3".
I would make an educated guise and say that he is 6'1" or 6'2" at his best. In the episode with Batista he was shorter then Batista and Batista is 6'2".
To get his truthful height you would need to take off his shoes and do a real measurement.
I thought Arnold our governor was 6'2" but he lied about his height and he is really 5'10".
I am Norwegian so I am naturally tall and not a fiction based person when it comes to being extremely strong and can bench 545 pounds and leg press 1880 pounds naturally.
The show might not last that long because the writers will run out of material soon.
The writers will need better material and they need to really think of a way to carefully make new episodes so that they don’t eat it up to fast like what happened to Lois and Clark.
Tom really needs to buff up allot more then he is. He looks to frail to play the man of steel. Brandon Roth is to small as the man of steel as well but does a ok job at acting like clark and superman.

Ive watch smallville for years! Kristin seems to wears consistantly heels and still looks like she's 1 or maybe 2 inches shorter than allison. There very few scene where she looks as tall and even fewer where she looks taller. So yeah id say shes about 5'1! and allison is probably 5'3 or 5'4 even though she can look 5'5 next to Tom. Why make a big fuss over Kristen's height? All that does is make her more and more self-conscious of herself and may affect her acting. So what if she's 5'1" or 5'3" or 5'2 2/3", she'd rather probably like to be 5'7". I myself is rather on the short side and I wouldn't mind be a little taller, wouldn't anybody? Drinking milk and eating proper dietary meals can do only so much in gaining on height. We can only hope to grow as tall as possible in our lifetime. I don't really think that biographys and all web sites have said a false height, she must be 5'4, even I'd like to think she is 5´1, because I am that height, but anyways, the true is that is is not short, and of course they should use ramps and boxes when Kristy is besides Tom, but only when taking pictures. Anyways she is really pretty being 5'1 or 5'4, and I really admire her, and also Tom Welling, and I don't doubt he is 6'3, you can compare him with other artists and you will see that he is that height.

As I've said before, Rob probably has her nailed. I agree that her heels are MASSIVE and that even with them she still never looks over 5ft5. You my have a point regarding the growth spurt, though it was probably not more than an inch or so. Kristin was an athlete in high school so it is possible that her femurs had a little more life left (like Maria Sharapova who grew recently). She could be 5ft2, but I would be surprised not shocked. Cliff, I don't think you OR Leigh are wrong. I think KK has actually grown about an inch or two since the beginning of SM. Maybe it's just me, but I've watched the show from the beginning and studied some pics of her and I really think she just hit a little growth spurt. I think she's probably 5'3 TOPS because they always put her in very big shoes. If she were 5'4 she'd look pretty tall on Smallville and she never does - not even when she's around the other women. That's my theory:) Oh and at the recent CW Launch party, there are pics of she and Kristen Bell together. KK is wearing 4 inch heels and KB was in 3 inch heels. but after seeing John Glover last Saturday night in Pasadena, I think that Ms. Kreuk is either 5ft3 or POSSIBLY the 5ft4 she's commoly listed at. When she stands next to other women (they are also in heels) on the show, she does appear to be around their height. At 5ft1 she would be MUCH shorter than ALison Mack or Annete O'Toole. She was also at a CW network event last night in LA and did not look that short - though she was in heels. I think this is a case where nearly all of the guys on the show are all 6ft plus, so naturally, any girl under 5ft5 will look tiny next to them. I cannot say for certain until I see her in person, but would be shocked if she was shorter than 5ft3. I'm a fan...I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002...was in remission for 2 years then unfortunatley it came back last year 2005. It hit my bones, lungs and liver...doctor's said i had 4 to 6 weeks left but somehow by God's love and grace am still here...I go thru a list of things i want to do and some of them i've done but in one of my list i wanna meet the Smallville crew especially Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk...that would be a dream come true...i live in New Westminster, BC and see the Smallville office at Beresford St. in Burnaby....oh i just wish someone could help me meet them...that would really make my day.

You are right: I have studied all the episodes of SV, image by image, shot by shot; i thoroughly stidied the hundreds of photos available on Internet: John is clearly "less tall" (not "smaller" !) than Tom except in some very rare episodes (first season at the hospital where Tom is smaller and it's almost obvious he is barefoot and when Johnathan is half carried up by his son Clark (second season); otherwise, Tom is visibly taller.
John is probably 6'3 and "something" like 1m92 for he is besides Tom, ALWAYS towering over everybody; So is Tom; I feel sorry for those who claim he is 6 or even 6'1' and prefer keep for myself my feelings about those who say "he's 5'10 or 11" ; Really too sad...
In first season "Hug", Tom stands in front of Rick Peters: this guy is very tall (6'3'') and looks up to Tom once more visibly taller than him an inch.
The same Rick was about to John's height. What to say as regards the huge difference between John Glover - solid 6'1 - and Tom; see the 3rd season 8th episode "shattered": at the hospital where Lana lies on a bed. they are side by side and Tom is HUGE next to him then Tom inspires and straightens up himself: John Glover looks suddenly like a "boy"! Wherever he is shot, from the right side or the left one, Tom appears at least 3 foot taller than J. Glover.

I repeat what i advised people to do: FIND ON GOOGLE or so, the picture of Tom, Jhon Schneider and A. O'TOOLE. REALLY EASY TO FIND AT "TOM WELLING PICTURES" ; it is obvious there is no trick; the photo is casual style and you will see; Annette is below the Tom's neck and above all, John (before Tom yet) one GOOD inch smaller than Tom.
But you just need to watch episodes and do not forget that Tom never stands "up" and "right", always a very little bit slouching because he and his character are very humble and not "too" proud;
Superman is a mixture of Buddha, Jesus and all of the Greek ancient Heroes; hi greatest quality, his real nobility lies in his aptitude to master all of these powers; that's why he CANNOT be human;
Embodying such a noble person needs actors having a big part of these qualities; Tom as the late Chris Reeve did, has it. Very remarkable how the part changed Brandon Routh as well. Look at his first photos when being just choosen for Superman returns and...the same "in" the movie.

If you would all read the initial post thoroughly you might see that the poster says that they give her 'special shoes'. Just because she is wearing flats and Mack is wearing flats does not mean they are the same height. Dan, you can't really trust what the actors say about their height. Perhaps, if they are naturally tall, then they might say their actual height or close to that but for celebrities that have obvious problems with their height (esp. in a business where almost everything about your appearance matter), they tend to lie a bit and add an inch or two to their "actual" height...ok? ok, first of all Prince Albert is not 6ft, I have seen him at clubs in Monaco and he's at the most around 5'10 NO LIE. Also to whoever said that actors never talk to extras thats a complete lie, my friend was an extra on the O.C and Rachel Bilson and the rest of the cast were always very friendly to all the extras and sometimes even sat at lunch together with some of them, most actors who are nice will talk to extras, unless it's a massive scene and there's a huge group of them, if only a few most of them will go out of their way to chat. Actually, there are a good many pics on the net of fans with Kreuk who were extras on the smallville set. Apparently she does have time to chat with extras. I work in TV here in my country and it's super common to use ramps and steps with short actresses/actors. Tom Cruise used them all the time...

I've met Tom Welling at work and can say a few definite things about him: he's frickin buff as sin right now, he's the most attractive guy I think I've ever seen (and I'm straight, by God!), and he's a full inch taller than me in plain shoes (I'm 6'2"). She may actually be about 5,2 to 5,3 as tom welling is a very tall man who is deffently 6,2 to 6,3 ive seen proof from he's modeling height referances listed on the internet. So anyone would look short to him but she could be smaller or taller you just can't tell. dazz says on 30/Jun/05

It´s realy odd, when you consider that Allison Mack is 5'5 and Kristin Kreuk 5'1, but when standing next to eachother Kristin doesn´t look very much shorter than Allison! becky says on 9/Jun/05
I always thought Kristin was smaller than 5'4 and quite happy to find out she's 5'1" as I'm 5'2" with the same build. |
