Anonymous, really tall guys, stars too,are often self-conscious about their height and I agree with unicorn about the "slouchers". Perhaps Josh is too. Some guys slouch deliberately because they don't want to tower over a shorter male/person they're chatting to and/or being photographed with. One example is Natasha Henstridge's partner, singer/songwriter and West End star, Darius Danesh who consistently claimed he was 6 ft 2 when he's clearly a good 6 ft 4 perhaps closer to 6ft 5 and he always does that "shrinking down" stuff too. stan says on 10/Sep/06

Riht, so a lot of you have no brain then. You don't have the literacy skills to realise the tone and perspective he's speaking from; it's 3rd person. That means, he's talking from the view of someone else being just under 6 foot. In real life, his voice tone would change when saying that sentence, to signify how it's ludicrous to round up so much. Can't you even tell from what he' talking about, it's wrong to round up/lie about height ... then his EXAMPLE, not his own height?

I am 5'71/2 inches, my hub is taller than I, but when we stand next to each other sometimes I feel like I am almost as tall as he claims to be. One day, we got out the "measuring" tape. I measured him at 6' ( a little over). But to see him in his bare fet, he looks about 5'10-11. It is really funny becuase when he puts his work boots on, or any other shoe, he towers over me when I am in my bare feet. You really have to measure in a doctors office under the wall height arm they have to get a true reading. I have always, consistantly measured 5'71/2. I just usually say I am 5'8. Yes, the interviewer was saying how 'in his cowboy boots' he looked a legit tall leading man who holds himself well, so asked his height, to which he laughs 'barely 6ft'...of course you can interpret his intention as 6ft. And as I say he does look close to 6ft 1...because of the boots.

I happened to be in Santa Monica a few weeks back and happened into a bookstore. Christian Bale was browsing about and was trying to seem inconspicious (drab clothes, mussed hair, blah and blah). The only reason I noticed that it was him is that I get the "You look just like that guy from American Psycho/Batman" jazz all the time. (Richard Gere, too, but anyway...) I went and stood next to him by the magazine rack just to see if we could get a Lucy/Harpo Marx thing going. Not a chance; celebrities always see themselves in relation to themselves: no one else exists. Not to belabour it but I am exactly 6' tall and he was approx. 1" shorter than I. I was wearing hiking books, thus making me a bit taller than 6", and he was wearing a pair of basketball shoes. Saw him in person in New York - I am 5'11" - and he is taller than me - summertime he had on flip flops.....so no lifts and taller than he states. Many actors are asked to round down: Hugh Jackman - 6'4" but now mags state he is only 6'2, Gerard Butler same thing - 6'3 now down to 6'1.5": an example of this from Gerard Butler:

Do you honestly think people would care so much about their height to be downplaying hahaha, not everyone is obsessed with a height. the difference between 6"0 and 6"1 is almost so damn unoticable in most cases, as noone stands upright like a carrot, and even if they did its 2.5 cm difference, the shorter guy may have boofier hair and could still look taller haha, so whats the point in caring Anonymous says on 1/Sep/05
