Ed yes I agree completely. ALthough many stars in the past were shorter like Bogart and Brando etc there certainly did seem to be a larger number of tall guys compared to today. Notice though that a lot of these men specialised in western or action films when it was the trend to be huge and macho looking or in horror films for the fear factor (Christopher Lee, Vincent Price etc). I still think that the heights of some of these actors who were billed as 6'4" are sometimes exaggerated I'm certain few of them were ever a legit 6'4" and were nearer 6'2-3" which was still very tall in the day, unlike Christopher Lee for instance who was likely over 6'4" barefoot atpeak. The trend for using tall and imposing action film stars did re-emerge in the 1980s and 1990s with guys like Steven Seagal, Dolph Lundgren, Ralph Muller etc who were all clearly over 6'4" but they never had the acclaim that guys like Wayne and Stewart had. Most film stars in Hollywood these days indeed seem to average out around 5'10" which is very close to average height. I guess height isn't important anymore, besides guys who are a legit 5'10" on screen can give a tall impression anyway depending on camera angles and lifts etc.

Taker was around 3 inches taller than Hogan in the battle Royal mid '91. Comparing billing doesn't always work, e.g. TBS and Kane, boith billed at 7 when Show dwarfs Kane.

Yes I think he was a similar size to Eastwood at peak 6ft2.5-6ft3 barefoot and in a good pair of boots could give an impression of 6'4.5" or even 6'5" at the most. If he was 6'4" barefoot and was known to wear lifts he could reach 6'6" easily. He never did. But it is interesting to see the height difference between him and Arness in some pictures, Arness looks two inches taller I think only. Often Wayne appears to me to look a legit 6'4" but it is difficult to tell, also all those rumours about huge lifts and 6 foot flat descriptions are highly suspicious.

This stands for The National Association for The Advancement of Colored People and was formed in 1909 to combat racism and to push for legal rights for Black folks. In the late night bars and nightclubs (generally 18-35) 180cm / 5ft11 barefoot is spot on average for UK, I'm a pretty good judge and only make estimates in ques - not like estimating somebody to be 6ft from 10m away. I think Seth Green is way shorter than 5 ft 3.5"! I think he's more like 4'11". Here he is beside little Mila Kunis who is 5'2" or 5'3". He's wearing thick-soled sneakers, and she's in maybe 2 inch heels, which would give her and inch and a half, so she's about 5'4" in this pic, and he's about a half and inch taller than his natural height without the shoes. There is definitely more than a 1 inch difference between the two. I think Larroquette's assertion that he is 6'5" is very reasonable and deserves an upgrade.
I agree, seeing Harry Anderson ALSO claims to be 6'4", but John Laroquette ALWAYS appeared to be taller. I still go with my assertion that John was at the HIGH end of 6'4" (closer to 6'5"), but downgraded to 6'4" and Harry Anderson was a probably 6'3.5" and rounded up. I would even go so far as to say that Harry was 6'3 1/4" and John 6'4 3/4" and both claimed 6'4". MACK on the show claimed to be 6'3". I believe he rounded up as well. Richard Moll (BULL) was a legit 6'8".

Henry Rollins was lean and mean a few years ago and claimed to be 5'9" and weigh 190-195 pounds at the time and this was in around 2001. He was muscular, but lean. Van Damme was larger than Henry in 2001 and around the same height. I do not doubt that he was as high as 218 pounds at one point. I read this in the late 80's. I was a HUGE fan of his. Bloodsport and Kickboxer were 2 of my fav. '80's martial arts movies. People don't lie as much about their weight as they do about their height. The only one who tend to lie are WOMEN and very overweight people. People who are in shape/lift weights are usually quite honest and are PROUD of their physiques and have nothing to lie about imo.

I'm working out every other day with weights and rowing, muscle weighs a lot more than fat. Ok guys, this is a chart, from the WHO, showing the percentiles of heights from ages 5-19. If you look at ages 19, at only 179 cm, you'd be taller than around 65% of people you meet. Or if you were 176, you'd be 50% taller than most you meet. This chart should help dispel some of the rumors going on here, and disputes of height, at least for younger people.

I think Rob's listing is good enough. With good posture he can look more like 5'9", but like everyone he can look shorter than he is at times. It's rare that he doesn't look anywhere from 5'7" to 5'9" and most of the time he looks 5'8".

The first picture I posted is the best from that day because they're standing still. Arnold actually has the camera and posture advantage there, but they still look about the same height. The second picture is also good as they're both standing straight and seem to be in the exact same part of their stride.
Arnold also looks a hair taller than Blair because of posture. Blair isn't hunched over, but he doesn't have Arnold's military posture. They're both 6 feet even.

Not all of those pictures are perfect, but in quite a few of them he has no camera advantage and in many not that much of one. Certainly none like the Reagan picture, they're pretty much side by side in all of those.
Actually if you watch Cobra, Sly is taller throughout a lot of the movie, even in full body shots. I remember one scene where he was walking with Brigitte to his car and he was taller when they were standing still and walking. She was in white sneakers and he was in these. Click Here

I always thought Goldblum is a legitmate 6'4" barefoot. That is very tall indeed, taller than more than 99% of the world population. If you are a legit 6'4" barefoot then he is going to look pretty much 6'5 most of the time to people dressed as I believe he always has done. No matter how tall you are...women like hard bodies! So if your short, try to hit the gym to bulk up a litte and get some nice definition...especially in your waist. Everybody has a heightrange, for example if you´re 6´3"in the morning and 6´2" in the evening than you can give 6´2" as your height or 6´3".
I mean if you´re a height at one point of the day, than you can say you´re that height.

I think people forget what average means. Just because 5'10 is the average doesn't mean you will see more 5'10 people than any other. You will probably see more 5'8 or 6'0 people in a given day than people who are exactly 5'10. I only know one 5'10 person. Everyone else is either taller or shorter than that.

I just watched Taken. First off this movie is sick, great thriller and Neeson is a total badass in it! You can see in the long shots when he is moving amongst others that he has the presence of a 6'4" or 6'5" man, very large guy. Also, it is evident in close up dialog seens that there has been some apple boxes for the other actors and actresses to use so they can fit in the shot, lol.

Fair enough derek d, but I really do think its virtually impossible to get the 3 inches unless your in boots or high sided shoes/sneakers. If the shoe looks 'undetectable' from the outside, 2 inches of 'hidden' lift will have your heel almost out of the back of the shoe, hence my reasoning you would have to build the outside up considerably, like this one,which gives you 2.4 ins from barefoot.

Tyson has a 71 inch reach which could easily be the reach of a 5-10 man. Hell Stallone claimed to have a 73 inch reach so your reach can be quite a bit longer than your height.
I think he's 5-10. 5-9 Tony Danza could have worn lifts to appear 5-10 next to Mike and De Niro's old man posture/camera disadvantage could have made him look shorter next to Mike. I still find 5-9 possible, but I think 5-10 makes the most sense.
