i live in paris i'm chinese and i often meet groups of chinese japanese and korean tourists group composed of young people. I'm 5'10.5 and at least 90% of young asian boys i meet are shorter than me even with very high hairstyle i think their average height is no more than 5'7.5, i often see very tiny guys around 5'5 or less but only very few over 6' (maybe 5 in 10 years ) and the females are about 5'2 average max my cousin and aunt are 5'1 and 5'3 each and they are no short at all among them . i don't know if only short asians go to paris or asians are used to lying as they breath

If Caan didn't have lifts he'd be 5'10"-5'10.25" in dress shoes. Which would make Flavin a minimum 5'9" if she had big 3.15" heels. But there are still the possibilities that Caan is wearing lifts, her heels are smaller than 3.15" or perhaps bigger. If she isn't in 4" platform heels than that point to her being a minimum 5'9", but that's an assumption.
It's not much of a reference for her height, but it's something. I did a google news archive search and found 2 articles listing her height. A 1992 article had her at 5'9.5" and 123 lbs. and a 1996 article had her at 5'9" and 120 lbs.

He looks almost half a head shorter than the crossbar. A crossbar should indeed be 8 feet high according to FIFA regulations. In professional football all goals should be that height (otherwise you're cheating). Most amature football clubs follow up on those regulations aswell, so the chance of that being an 8 foot heigh goal is very likely. That puts this guy at probably 7'6-7'7.

As far as I'm concerned, Arnold was confirmed at 6'1.5"-6'2" peak. Vince Basille's claim and the numerous barefoot photos of Arnold proved that IMO.
As far as Arnold's height now? To prove he's anything less than a solid 6 footer you'd have to do 2 things.
1.Find solid evidence that he's a regular lift wearer by finding multiple pictures of suspicious footwear(either large heeled shoes, thick boots or shots where his ankle position is suspicious
2.Find a handful of good pictures where he looks less than 6 ft. By good pictures I mean with known footwear, no mid-stride, neither man can be slouching noticeably, neither can have a noticeable camera advantage and neither can be on higher ground.
3.Prove why Arnold has lost noticeably more height than the average man has at his age. By age 70 the average man has lost 1.18 inches. So tell me why Arnold a seemingly healthy and relatively fit 62 year old has lost 0.82 inches more than an average man 8 years older than himself?
If someone can find good evidence that he regularly wears lifts, has shrunk atleast 2 inches and looks under 6 ft fairly often then I'll consider that he's in the 5'11" range, until I then, Arnold is still a minimum 6 feet tall if not 6'0.5". Down from his peak of 6'1.75"

Marsden did a film called 'Heights' (ironically) with Elizabeth Banks. She's listed as being 5'5". In the kitchen scene it's clear he's much taller then her...much more then some of the numbers he's credited here. His own wife is listed as 5'7.5". If you look at some red carpet pictures with them together, even with her in heels he is still slightly taller even if it's by an inch or two.
I believe cuz he's a smaller frame guy that it has him looking 'shorter' then he really is.

Lol cuz i measured my height at my brother's apartment and it read 184.9cm (nearly 185cm), but then at home, i measured using an aerosol can as a lever and it read 186.7cm, and THEN at my friend's apartment, which is one a substantial slope, i measured using a aerosol can and it read EXACTLY 188cm! A good thing to do is compare him to Johnny Carson (between 5'10" and 5'10.5") and Ed McMahon (6'3") on the Tonight Show in 1985. John Ritter was clearly taller than Carson but not by too much and was about three inches shorter than McMahon putting Ritter around 6 feet. Then compare how tall Seinfeld looked in his 1990 appearance on tonight show, and he was maybe four inches shorter than McMahon, but it's clear Seinfeld is a little shorter than Ritter. I now think Kosen is likely taller than Juncai mainly because I am now throughly convinced that his 8'1" height is even with his spinal curvature (although he has had some surgery to correct it I believe). 7'11 1/4" Zhang Juncai has spinal curvature, so ASSUMING normal spinal curvature he would definitely be WELL over 8 feet (possibly as high as 8'3). Zhang could also very easily be an 8 footer in the morning or as an average measurement since he was only measured once. So Zhang and Kosen are the only legit 8 footers right now imo.
I am still rather skeptical on Suparwono. I would want to see him get measured on the Japanese giant show on TV so we can see once and for all how tall he really is (and that giant show has proven Guinness wrong several times I believe like with Channa vs Sizenenko and Juncai vs. Bao).

The pic with Glenn also support a height of 5'9". The big question for me is not how tall he is now. It is clear that today he is no taller than 5'9". The big question is how much has he shrunk? He is at least as tall if not a little more than John Lennon. John, from all accounts, was no taller than 5'10" and that was 30 years ago. Since we know they were around the same height, I would say macca was 5'10" in his prime, and even if we are generous and say he was 1/2 inch taller than John, that still puts him at 5'10.5" in his prime. Thus, in the past 30 years, Macca has lost 1.5 inches in height. I think at most he was 5'10" in his prime, and John was slightly less than that. Macca's slight build makes him look tall. It's an optical illusion.

Here's my peice:
No matter what this site says, here's what I think. Meat Loaf peaked 6'1" and is now at 5'11". He appeared shortest to me in the early 90's, but looks taller now than he did then. Meat Loaf used to look very tall in his prime however. He mostly claims his height as 6'1 1/2" and 6'2" but he is not that anymore if he was ever anything over 6'1". Everyone who commented agreeing with only 5'10", you really need to pay attention to the way Meat stands. His shoulders are severly hunched and his neck is never straight. If he can appear 5'10" with that posture, wouldn't you think he's taller when he stands straight? Look how he's built! He's built like he was huge! Meat standing perfectly straight is damn close to 6'. Plus, I've met him, and he was taller than my step dad who is five ten and a half. Meat Loaf is taller than 5'10"!

I walked behind a man at the train station today. I thought he was 6'3+. But then I actually compared the top of his head to mine. He was only about 6'1, maybe less.
It was because he was big rather than tall. His shoulders in particular were massive. Height as a number is irrelevant when these sort of things can affect how tall you look to others.

Vegas, I think Robinson entered the US Navy when he was around 6'6" and then grew another 6 or so inches during his Navy stint. Like Hogan, Ventura's usually full of B.S. but there is a general limitation on height in the US armed services. They'll still find you a spot if you're over 6'8" and really want to join. You just can't perform certain tasks, like operating a tank or flying a fighter plane.

Uhh very short? Sly looks 4" shorter than Arnie there who was close to if not 6'2" when that photo was taken. Then you have to note that Sly is leaning in for the picture and losing a bit of height there and the low camera angle favors the taller man(Schwarzenegger).
I'm not seeing how that makes him "very short" when he's giving the impression that he's slightly above average there. And in reality Stallone is right around average. Most here now agree on either 5'8.5" or 5'9" which is just below the current average height for a man(5'9.25").
If you want to see a celebrity who is "very short" look at Michael J. Fox or Joe Pesci.

I was 5'11" at 14 and ended up 6'2". Although I was a very early bloomer and for most people (normal growth) from what I remember back in High School, 5'10"-5'11" at 14 usually end up around 6'3". Even had one guy that we were both 5'11" at 14 and he ended up 6'4" by the end of high school, although he was the most athletic guy in our high school. Also keep it mind it takes some people a late age to reach their final height i.e. one might be 6'2" and a change and end up 6'3" at 23 years old.

Jesse, like so many from that time, did a lot of bending of the knees and posing and moving about and posing. Just like the Superstar before him and Hogan after him Jesse was always strutting and creating a cool, California beach bum mystique. He was awesome at it. That is why he sometimes seems closer to Vince's height. Vince stood like a statue back then. When Jesse stood perfectly straight he has 2.5" on Vince. But keep in mind if you do screen caps that often times you could not see Jesse's stance, they can be misleading.
Keep in mind. Vegas WANTS TO "mislead". That's his chief goal.

well I posted on the lesnar page my thoughts of brock and actually agreed with you for once ;) my thougts on lesnar is that I can see why some would say he is 6'1 max if I only watched wrestling because he is shorter than rock, goldberg (who looked shorter than I thought he would against arlovski and alex E) and lesnar is not that much taller than cena.. and cena has claimed 6'. If brock had not come over to ufc I would maybe say things like lesnar is 6'1-6'1.5" too.. but I know him from ufc and he edges out or are as tall as legit tall guys like mir, nog and even herring. I'm gonna throw some things out there I noticed lately when it comes to ufc heights. michael irwin listed 6'2 was atleast 1" taller than liddel in a backstage video from dancing with the stars I saw. tito is apparantly 1" taller after his backsurgery because he is now 6'3 in the ufc listing ;) in an old fight in polen I belive.. damien maia is listed 184cm. same as royce in japan.. now.. I always thought damien looked taller than his 6' listing in the ufc.. and he looks atleast 1" taller than shogun in a pic of them both barefeet and side by side. also.. bas rutten is the same or a smidge shorter than cameron gigandet (training barefoot with eachother for the movie never back down).. that guy is listed 6' (looks shorter in the movie though). rampage to me looks a smidge shorter in videos of him sparring with bas and couture. he also looks little shorter than shogun.. so how tall is rampage really? he can look both 180 and 184. I talked to a guy who says he trains with hendo and he SWEARS that hendo is no more than 5'10 because he is the same height ad it's a known fact around that gym that he isn't taller. granted hendo had a 5'10 listing before but that would make rampage as low as 5'10.5.. I don't know what to think anymore :p

You might be thinking about their posture of their shoes right now, I understand. The last time I posted this same picture it was pretty convincing, but I'm still trying to find that full length photo so you can see for yourself. Even if you want to be generous and boost Hrithik up to 5'10.5" or 5'11 that would make Upen 5'9.5" to 5'10 MAX. Seriously, in Namaste London, during the scene at the mosque, Upen's eye level was exactly at the tip of Akshay's nose. That's a good 1.5 to 2 inches difference. My estimates are based on that visual.

(Maybe I'm just terrible at guesstimating people's heights; I don't know.) Lately, I've been riding public transportation, and I notice that when I stand straight against the glass divider and look at my reflection on the divider opposite from me, the top of my head is level with the top of the first of two metal bars that hold the divider in place. (In the morning, sometimes I am very slightly - perhaps one-half-bar width - taller; in the evening, I am very consistently just as tall as the metal bar - assuming that I do not slouch. My hair is cut very short at the moment, so I can actually see the top of my scalp.) There have been times when I have seen people standing on the platform and perceived them to be my height or taller, only to realize that, if they stood against one of the other dividers, they were perhaps two or even three inches shorter than me, if not more.
I sometimes feel short when I'm talking around campus (I work at a college library), but I've noticed that I tend to hunch over fairly significantly when walking. This is mainly due to the fact that I am a bulky guy (6'1", 280) and a fast walker.
Then again, there are a lot of big guys around (it is an expensive college, with a fair number of blonde-haired, blue-eyed types, and most of the students come from upper-middle-class families). 6'4" guys are not *that* uncommon. They are *much* more common than at the local community college where my mother works. At the college, where the vast majority of students are Hispanic (with a fair number of black people as well; the percentage of white non-Hispanic students is rather low), it is not unusual to see 5'8" or even 5'6" guys. In fact, I was showing my 5'5" cousin around not too long ago (she wants to start taking classes), and she remarked that a lot of the guys were about her height.
One day, I walked into a bathroom and noticed a man who I thought was perhaps 5'8", only to stand next to him at the sink, look in the mirror, and notice that he was no more than 5'5". (The difference between the man and me was the same as the difference between me and my cousin.) I did not perceive that I walked in that he was especially slightly built, but I had much broader shoulders than him, as well. It almost shocked me to see myself looking so large next to a person who I did not perceive, on first sight, to be all that much smaller than me.
Recently, I saw one of my coworkers at the mall and was surprised to perceive that he was noticeably taller than me. At work, we usually talk standing next to the cubicle wall, and I can see that we are *very* similar in height - we are both about a head taller than the wall. (In fact, one of my coworkers, a very short woman from India, remarked that I am one of perhaps four people in the department who are tall enough for her to see and recognize over the wall.) My coworker might be perhaps one centimeter taller than me, but he has a tendency to slouch a bit. (I have very good posture; in fact, people have even asked me if I've ever been in the military. I have not.)
At any rate, when you hear wild stories on this site about such-and-such an actor being "a tiny guy" or "larger than expected," keep in mind that different people have different perceptions. I consistently think that people are somewhat taller than they are; no doubt other people consistently perceive that people are shorter.

I'm Italian and soccer is our national sport and we are also world champions.In Italy a lot of people live with and for soccer really!
I played soccer as a child also and I've always known that the height of a regular soccer goal is exactly 8 feet though smaller sometimes for children.
Now if you look at the video and stop at 3:53 you can see Suparwono beeing at lest 4 inches shorter than the crossbar and as you can read up there in the other link I posted that a regular crossbar should stand at 8 feet from the ground!I'm not conviced at all about his height and given that he was measured by local authority as in Stadnyk case for example, I guess, I only guess, that he could be shorter than 7'11.5" but in any case no shorter than 7'7/8"!It could very well be also that the crossbar is higher than average but I don't think so!I'd like very much to know your point of view guys!

Not at that specific event, but I saw them wrestle each other at a house show last year. Yeah, I totally agree. Guys I've seen in person like Edge, Orton, DiBiase Jr. and Swagger have shocked me by just how big they are. Swagger in partcular I was surprised at, he's much more muscular that I expected him to be as well as being really tall.

Sometime ago I read an inteview with a movie director and he said that sometimes the actress is too short and the actor is too tall, so, in the post production of the film they use camera tricks to minimize the differences between their heights. Then it drops to 174.75 for 45/54 however it looks like you are starting to get people shrinking by 0.7cm. So peak height would have been 175.5cm. 55/64 the average is 173.35cm however shrinkage appears to be about 1.2cm. So peak height of 175.25cm. 65/74 the average is 171.3cm, however the shrinkage is another 1.2cm, so peak of 174.4cm. So we on average about inch taller than our grandfathers (50 years ago) in the UK. Also our height increase was about 6mm every ten years but has basically stopped now. given the average deviation allowed we could still be growing about 5mm max over ten years. It looks very unlikely the figure will reach 177.8 as a true average over ten years for at least 20 years, in fact it is possibly showing signs of reversing.

Do not take any sh-te from anybody just because you are short does not make you less deserving of good things, i know society as a whole will treat you badly. Some taller people get all upset when they lose out to shorter people they have this idea in their heads that they have done something special to be tall and that they have a sense of entitlement to everything.

5'11-6' - above average, not really tall but with a nice build, would be called "big"

6'5.5 + - very, very rare and extremely tall

I would like an opinion on my growth pattern and when I finish growing.
I am a 19 year old male and 5 feet 11 inches tall. I have a very thin moustache and hair on my chin, but do not shave yet. I look quite young in the face, and other than my broad shoulders (which is a family trait) I have a young, teenage-looking body. I have always grown very steadily, an inch per year from the age of 14. I never had a noticeable growth spurt where my height changed dramatically.
My father is six feet tall. I look very similar to him, but his bone structure is much larger than mine. He has a very strong beard, not shaving for a day results in a lot of stubble. He is very muscular, although he has quite a lot of fat as well. His brothers are the same, they are 6'0 and 6'1. He had a sister who is deceased, my mother remembers her being between 5'5-5'7. His father is 6'4, and his mother 5'2 at peak. He resembles his father a lot more.
My mother is 5'9. Other than jaw shape and similar demeanor I haven't inherited
much from her. She has a slim and athletic body type. Her sisters are also tall, they are 5'8, 5'7 and 5'10. Her father was 6'0 in his prime, mother 5'5 in her prime. Her father is also a big man, similar to my dad. Interestingly, he was short until he had a growth spurt at 19.
My father refuses to give me a serious answer on how old he was when he finished growing. However, a photo of my youngest uncle, the tallest at 6'1, on his 18th birthday shows him looking 5'10 next to my 6'0 father and other uncle. This implies that they finished growing fairly late (Around 21)
My other uncle has three sons, aged 17, 15 and 12. They are 5'11, 5'11.5 and 5'1 respectively. The two oldest are similar to me, although the oldest has a large amount of facial hair, despite being baby-faced. The second oldest was unusual in that he was normal-sized until he was 13, and then he had a massive growth spurt until he was 5'10 at 14. He looks older than me and my oldest cousin. Their mother is also 5'9.
It is strange that my cousins also haven't reached 6'0 despite being at an age where growth is expected to stop, and being from tall families on both sides.
Considering these facts, am I destined to grow until my early twenties?

Does anyone know whether facial hair growth is an indicator of height development? What I mean is, I´m 18 and about 9 months old and I have quite little facial hair and just in general I look younger than my age. Average height at my college is 6'0". Everyone is so freakin' tall. I'm 6'0" and I feel average height here and sometimes even short. Even the Asian guys are over 6 feet, and some of the girls. It's like a basketball stadium! I've never been surrounded by so many tall people before, and I do hate being towered over. However, I would not want to be any taller.
In 7th grade, I was almost 5'8" and the tallest one in my gym class of about 90 students. I hated being taller than everyone and hoped I would stop growing so I could be 5'9", a nice average height. Then a nurse told me I would be like 6'4" and I freaked out. I did not want to be anywhere near that tall! Luckily my growth spurt was over 2 years later at 6'0". I don't think Sly's lifts are getting bigger. I think the biggest they were was around The Contender, Rocky Balboa and the last Rambo movie plus the promo for all of them. Around that time I honestly thought Sly looked like a 5'11" guy who wore lifts. And I'm not the only one who though that(hence all of the leg-lengthening theories).
But I think that may have been an illusion because of Sly being a lot bigger overall(over 200 lbs). Now that he's back down to 180ish he doesn't seem as big to me anymore.

The reason why some of you think he's smaller is because of his body build, body types can be deceiving.

I'm 5'7,5 (171 cm) living in Finland and it's true that Scandinavians are tall, I usually feel short with males, but average with females even taller than average, so I put myself in the middle comparising to males and females heights. Average height seems to grow more and more, I wonder when it stops cause it takes also space all around you if humans are big. It's minimal amount of males that are shorter than I'am, but when there appears somebody shorter or same height male than I'am I can feel myself a much comfortable with them than with tall people.

The other thing is please consider Meat Loaf's current height as 5'11". Ive seen plenty of pics where he, standing straight, looks taller than he normanly does. Peak 6' or 6'.05" and now 5'11".
