[Editor Rob: if you had a flat piece of wood you could put it on its side and then against the wall on the floor. If there is a gap either end then you would be able to tell it's sloping very slightly away or towards the wall. Same with the wall, if you had a square bit of wood and put it against the wall and then used your eye to judge if it looks level.

you'd be surprised how good your eye might be at seeing if something is level.]

[Editor Rob: it can be genetic luck with height, sometimes you see instances where brothers are 5-6 inches apart.

My dad was first born of 3 sons, peak he was 5ft 10 and his brothers 5ft 8.]

In one (you 2 together), it is possible he is slightly further away, just going by your toes. But I'm not there so can't say - one person can always lean back slightly or lean forward and their toes might look different distances but their faces might be the same. Sometimes this can add/knock a fraction.

Anyway, in that photo and the triple shot where he is on the right of photo, mamun left, I would say he looks 5ft 11 in the photo compared to you. One where he does appear nearer 5ft 11.5 might be the one with mamun in the middle.

[Editor Rob: I think he'd make sure he measured no less. Basically what he's claiming is that he tried to force his measurement (by daughter) by stretching and he said he never got anymore and was still 6ft 1.

he never mentioned anything about shoes, so it's always possible he is telling the truth about his daughter measuring him 6ft 1, he just forgot to mention he wasn't in socks!]

[Editor Rob: maybe his hair and having lower camera (with him being a few cm closer to it) adds a bit of height.]

[Editor Rob: when you hold up a tape measure as though you are measuring the tape measure underneath the stadiometer, the reading on the stadiometer is always a solid 2mm more than what the stadiometer reading says.]

[Editor Rob: I've not been swimming for over a decade so never tested the idea, but I think because you are in water and horizontal a lot that your spine can regain height for sure.]

[Editor Rob: yeah in that photo it doesn't look 5.]

[Editor Rob: I saw Karen again last weekend and both Jenny and myself thought she looked about 5ft 10, compared to the last time we met she had a smaller boot on, we had about 0.75 inch, hers not much more and she just didn't look anywhere near 5ft 11 to me.]

[Editor Rob: if I seen a female in those heels I'd say they gave around 3-inch actual height. There's always a range with heels because some can give an illusion of less/more and different size feet can add a little while smaller feet might not get as much as a bigger foot. ]

[Editor Rob: I wouldn't claim it myself, although you might find a lot of guys could boost their height a half or inch and they wouldn't say anything.]

[Editor Rob: the problem is the stadiometer adds a good 2mm, so being 173.2 on it really means 173 flat off it, but being 5ft 8 1/8th on the stadiometer means 172.8 off it. Alex asked about the absolute lowest and I definitely did measure 5ft 8 1/8th on the stadiometer after a good long stretch of being up all night.]

[Editor Rob: I don't know, it could be a temporary thing...where if you stop the routine your spine then reverts back to it's previous state, but if you maintain it your evening height keeps the taller cm.]

[Editor Rob: I'd go with your measurement, it seems the kind that the insole sits a few mm under the outside grey part.]

[Editor Rob: the idea was to make it a bit harder with 3 in one, it's still 10/8/5 etc points for top 5.

What I will do though is award 5 BONUS points to the person(s) who gets nearest for each girl.]

So if I had 3 girls at 5ft 10/5ft 10/5ft 10 and you guessed 5ft 10.25, 5ft 10.5, 5ft 10.75...your overall guess would be (0.25+0.5+0.75) = 1.5 inches out.

although saying that, I saw her at another event a few years back in heels and she didn't look any taller than me, but it wasn't long enough.]

[Editor Rob: he was close to the other guy in that dancing clip, I've not seen enough to just say 5ft 7, although it's not impossible.]

[Editor Rob: it hovers around 5ft 3.5, but depending on slight head tilt up/down you can add or remove a small fraction from that height.]

[Editor Rob: not quite sure what you mean, is cleese in the first clip, it looked like palin, but second clip cleese looks taller than the tall guy.]

[Editor Rob: I go to bed 10pm usually. Yeah I work from 7-10am usually, but a lot of time I have to help my Mother and I am her driver to work, so get up early for that!]
