When you look into a full length mirror you will not get the view that others get of you because your head from your mirror image is closer to your eyes and looks bigger. If the mirror is angled slightly upward it should give u a better idea.
When you measure yourself with a stadiometer with your back on the wall you will be half a cm shorter because your bottom sticks out slightly and you will have to "bend back" to make the back of your head touch the wall, so you are not 100% straight but slightly bent backwards

In USA the psychological barrier seems to be 6 foot = 183cm, in asian countries especially asia it is 180cm not only because of the metric system or it's a nice round number but the average height is smaller by 3cm or so. In the Eurpoean countries such as Germany and Netherlands probably 185cm or even 190!
BigKing probably really is 6'6, and isn't a troll in the traditional sense but more likely a tall person who feels good talking about his height again and again and again and again X 2.... and again. I bet 9 out of 10 people on this site would agree with me.

5ft9 - 5ft9.75 can look small depending on proportions. if you have a leg length below 31.5", and a low shoulder height, and/or very sloped shoulders and a long head and/or combined long neck, then yes, such men can indeed look small. However, just 1.5" taller you can look tall at 5ft10.5, regardless of other proportions. Thus, Its nip and tuck (your either considered average or small) for all guys in the 5ft9 - 5ft9.75 mould. My cousin is 5ft9 flat (175cm) and has never been called small, his inseam is 33" - quite long legged for his height and he has square shoulders and 42" chest. I'm 176/(177cm morning) and have been called small numerous times with inseam of 31.25, 39.5" chest and quite a long head (220mm - doliocephalic) and mildly sloped shoulders (my shoulder height is the same as many -5ft8 guys). Its very tough for 5ft9 guys that have slight to average skeletons, there's more pressure on us to bulk up otherwise your bundled with the poor quality/comical types around 5ft4 like Rick Moranis or Woody Allen (not allowed to be a leading man basically) (no offense).
Van Damme has long legs and he's 174cm (5ft8.5) combined with broad, square shoulders and short neck - never has he looked small, has he?
Lance Armstrong at 177cm (5ft9.75) has been called a "big man" numerous times, never "small", where as Portugal soccer star, Deco (also 177cm) is often called small or "little Deco," "pint sized" etc regularly by the commentators.

Your kidding.... I live in Derbyshire and I feel distinctly on the small side at 5ft9.5, especially in trainers that have a low sole depth. Certainly around 180cm is avg. for the under 50's.
The national average statistic of 177cm is for those measured from ages 18-70 and includes ethnic minorities, which is wrong as many 18-yo might not be fully grown, and those aged from 50-70 are, usually, 1-2 inches shorter than when in their 20's/30's/40's, and the asians/indians are smaller.

There's no structure what so ever in height billings in the wrestling world. Some organisations exaggerate more than others. Wrestlers mostly have different billing with each organisation.
Within the organisation the billing has more to do with the character/gimmick of the wrestler than with the wrestler's actual height. Batista is shorter than Orton, but is billed taller. Kozlov is barely 6'3, but billed at 6'8.

Agreed. Even other people, who don't pay attention to wrestler's heights as much as we do, notice these things. The pic with Kane and Shaq raised some eyebrows on a few wrestling boards, as people were under the impression that Kane was a legit 7 foot.
Hogan never looked to good either next to Rodman. Hogan was billed at 6'7 and Rodman claimed to be 6'6, yet Hogan never looked to have an inch on Rodman. Rodman was clearly a few inches taller than Hogan.
If it were up to me wrestler's would be billed at their real heights. Regardless of how tall they are, they are still larger than life.

lok, the average height is 5'9 1/2". Note the half. That includes all races. Whites and blacks average at 5'10", and since they make up a majority of the population, it makes sense to just use the 5'10" figure anyway. Also, I would not factor in heights of elderly men who have most likely lost height. Generally, many people would agree that 5'7 is short and that 6'1 is tall. This makes 5'8 below average and 6'0 above average. It's not to unreasonable to consider 5'10" as an average height, especially with the younger generation.

I've discovered through reading this site for the past year or so that there exists admist us 3 easily identifiable height trolls.
I won't name or shame them but I'm sure there are various users of this site who will nod in agreement or have a name pop into their heads.
Troll #1: Upgrades Actors without any proof of ever having met them. Every actor is an inch taller in their mind, even those who claim a specific height are without question taller than their own claim.
Troll #2: Downgrades Actors based on a selection of photos, which usually fall into the category marked "Categorically Poor". Again, without having met them. The mere thought of an Actor standing at the height they state simply isn't in their heightist vocabulary. Every Actor lies, even the honest ones.
Troll #3: On viewing photographs provided by the contributers of this site, will attempt to make the celebrity taller by declaring there is a larger difference than there actually is - usually this occurs in the case of the celebrity being taller than said contributer. On the other hand, if the said contributer is taller than the celebrity, the troll will thus declare the difference is smaller than it really is.

When you look into a full length mirror you will not get the view that others get of you because your head from your mirror image is closer to your eyes and looks bigger. If the mirror is angled slightly upward it should give u a better idea.
When you measure yourself with a stadiometer with your back on the wall you will be half a cm shorter because your bottom sticks out slightly and you will have to "bend back" to make the back of your head touch the wall, so you are not 100% straight but slightly bent backwards
A smaller head will make anyone look taller than if they had a bigger head
In USA the psychological barrier seems to be 6 foot = 183cm, in asian countries especially asia it is 180cm not only because of the metric system or it's a nice round number but the average height is smaller by 3cm or so. In the Eurpoean countries such as Germany and Netherlands probably 185cm or even 190!
BigKing probably really is 6'6, and isn't a troll in the traditional sense but more likely a tall person who feels good talking about his height again and again and again and again X 2.... and again. I bet 9 out of 10 people on this site would agree with me.

Sometimes on Nip Tuck Julian and Dylan can look closer in height than other times. I've seen as much as 4.5-5 inches and as low as 2-3 inches. I wouldn't go their appearance at the MTV awards since neither are wearing flats and Nicole I think is actually sporting 5 inchers. I recall entertainment shows doing their annual "who wore what" and showing Nicole's outfit. This was the time when she was wearing heels like mad since she separated from Tom.
Miser you're absolutely right. Besides Tom Cruise and Sylvester Stallone, pretty much everyone else in Hollywood could care less about their height. I mean if someone like Brad Pitt would right off his height as 5'10" or something like that, what are the odds he's this height obsessed freak who never steps out of his house without lifts in his shoes that alot of people here likes to believe? Very little.
Height's usually the least of their concern. Their biggest concerns are the following in order:
- Personal image. Basically making the people think they're living the American dream and there's nothing wrong with them.
- Body image and weight.
- Their age.

Zaq, it seems like I'm growing pretty much. I sometimes look at my height where there's a mirror infront of me and I stand beside a wall. My mom put a picture for decoration and before(last year) my top of the head used to be right under that picture, but the top of my head is about 2 inches away to the top of the picture(the picture is about 5 inches top to bottom). Last year I was 5'7.5" so that proves that I'm 5'10.5" now. Also, I haven't measured my height for a pretty long time. And last year, one of my friend was 1 inch taller than me, which means he was 5'8.5", and now I'm about 2 inches taller than him. This also proves that I'm 5'10.5". But I will measure myself again when I have time to get my actual height. I think that I'm 5'11" with shoes. Yes I do eat a lot(like cheese, peanut butter, many fruits, many vegetables, and drink a lot of milk) and barely eat candies, coke, and other junk food.

Ernie ladd was a ligit NFL 6'9 305-315, in as much as any pro player is his listed height. Andre was not much taller but it was a little, about 3 inches, no less. That means Andre was a resonable 7'0 even. The 6'8-6'9 stuff is as wacked as the 7'4-7'5 stuff. At his peak Andre was 6'11 on the low end, and 7'0 on the hi end.

I don't know how it is in the UK but I think it could be correct, here in my country Belgium men have an average height of 6'0 (in our neighbourcountry The Netherlands it is even 6'1, the highest average in Europe by the way..)

I know Nikki Reeds stunt double on Twilight and she is 5'4. Stunt doubles are usually the same height or within an inch of the actors. Hope that helps you guys out. I also know kristen's double who is 5'6.

Well, I happen to be an expert at Occular Progressive Guesstimulation, and I know that he stands at a solid 6'1 3/4 ON THE DOT! My son took a picture with him this past September, and AK is exactly 6'1 3/4 tall, which at the time was the same exact height as my growing son. So bleh!

Studd was nowhere near 6'8". Met him in his street clothes and my 6'4" brother's head came slightly above the middle of his forehead, so the absolute tops I'd give him would be 6'6.5", and that's probably pushing it.
Taker was about 6'7" and maybe some change. Kane was about an inch taller. Never met Hogan, but I remember reading somewhere after he first entered the WWWF that his actual height was 6'5.5", even though he was being billed at 6'8". Haven't a clue where that was though.

look, guys, the reason her weight was higher than average for her height and measurements was because her legs and thighs were so much thicker than the average woman with 37in hips. Most women with her height and dress size are going to be significantly lighter because they lack the considerable amount of muscle and fat monroe had in her legs. This is not a factor in dress measurement, although if tight pants were as popular in monroes day as they era now, she might have had trouble selecting some that her legs would fit into. she was brilliant, of course, and its a little weird that this is what we are discussing, given the fact that her iq was tens of points higher than kennedys. body image is much too crucial in todays world, and its too bad there arent blogs debating monroes moral character and intelligence.
