Would you say after a football game if you measured him straight after he would be 172cm?

How is Neymar 5'8 and Bieber 5'7 when Bieber is at least as tall as Neymar??!
Tallish89 said on 20/Apr/17
Lies about his height, gets away with it cause Messi upgraded himself from 5'5.5/5'6 to 5'7.
Johnson said on 19/Apr/17
I really don't think Neymar is under 173.5 cm.
Canson said on 20/Mar/17
I meant Jason Maxiell in my last post. Stupid autocorrect
Canson said on 17/Mar/17
@Johnson: I understand where you are coming from but when you use words like "unfair" and make rules of 2 hours out when nobody else is and the net result is you inflating most of the people you comment on, that's why people see it like that. At least if a pre draft is there (those often are inflated) there is no reason to inflate it even further honestly. Now yes some may grow. Jason Mariel may have because I played ball against him and he wasn't any taller than me nothing the eye could see without standing straight in front of him (maybe 1/2") and boom he's 197 today so he likely was 6'5 flat at the time and is 6'5.5 or so today but that is not common and surely not as common as you think. The "so and so grew" is propaganda that is thrown out by a coach scout or insider of an organization to hype players up. Far fewer players actually grow than those who dont
Johnson said on 16/Mar/17
@Canson I mean all it's distorted. It's not easy to compare. It's ridiculous compare people of 6'5 with a person of 5'7 for example. Difficult to calculate distance, that is my point. Not because they are tall or short. I don't care about people to be tall or short. It is ridiculous. I am everyday correcting football teams and players because they list footballers taller than they are by mistake, If I liked them to be tall, I would like it, and I am obsessed with accuracy so I am honest with my opinions
Canson said on 15/Mar/17
@Johnson: what is unfair have to do with his height? You just proved here that you do want people to be taller than they are

I think it is unfair to compare Neymar or another average person with really tall people like Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant. They are really not close in height, it is better to compare with shorter people
Canson said on 7/Mar/17
I certainly do not believe he is 5'7" barefoot but who knows. They do list some of these guys with shoes. He is more likely at least weak 5'8". I used to think he was a bit higher but after seeing the hair closely he isn't. And that's about 9 inches with Kobe Bryant not 10. He's not standing straight

Wow, haven't been posting here regularly since early November, so was surprised to come back and finally see the quarter-inch taken off. lol I'd called this from just soon after the page was created. He is 5'8" tops.
Truth said on 24/Jan/17
James, I think being short having a low center of gravity and short stride help to make skillful dribblers but there are players over 6 foot who are also fast and skilled. Cristiano Ronaldo, Bale, Henry, Draxler, Cavani, Morata, Auba, Zaha, Lewa. Cristiano and Henry are the best of the bunch and can hang with the players you listed in both speed and skill. The others may lack the skill but are all faster than those you listed. Being short may help with dribbling but it doesn't help top end speed which is what all these 6 ft plus players have.
Gaza2121 said on 23/Jan/17
5'8" is laughable. There is so much evidence to suggest he's 5'7" at best. Even Justin Bieber is taller than him. Get real!

With Kobe Bryant he is possibly barefoot and hugged. If you are hugged te effect is to be 3 cm shorter
James said on 30/Dec/16
If Neymar were 6 ft tall... would he be so skillful and fast? I don't remember any football player who was 6 ft or taller and able to be fast and good at dribbling. Yes Gareth Bale is fast... bus is he skillful at dribbling? Maradona, Pelé, Neymar, Ronaldinho, the young Brazilian Ronaldo... all of them are under 6 ft. That helped them to be more agile.

Rob, who do you think have the edge between you and Neymar? For me you
Editor Rob: I think it would be quite close, but he might just fall to 5ft 8 on the nose.
said on 4/Dec/16
With 6'4.75" Kobe Bryant
He's a full head taller, what's that close to 10 inches? Plus he's leaning in losing some height. Even if Neymar does have less footwear he's still at least 10 inches shorter. 5'7" max!
said on 4/Dec/16
I honestly think he is 172cm do you think there is a chance Rob?
Editor Rob: he has a tiny frame which adds to a perception of being comfortably average. 172cm I'm not sure, I could see at times that argument, other times he looked a solid 173cm range.
James said on 4/Dec/16
@Peter175 I think he is less than 1/2 inch taller than Bieber. 1 cm of difference between them.

@John Neymar is 175 cm this year in Barcelona page. The first one 175 and the last 2 ones 174.

MD said on 4/Sep/16
Nah. Along with all of the other evidence, the recent pictures with Bieber show them very close in height, and we know Bieber isn't taller than listed.
said on 2/Sep/16
So is he the same height as you, Rob? He always gave the impression of a taller guy, let's say 5'9" as he was listed on many websites before becoming a star at Barcelona. Well, I guess the fact that he is very skinny makes him appear taller. He seems well proportioned.
Next to Lionel Messi he can appear 5'9" at times.
Editor Rob: somewhere in 173, possibly near 174 looks more likely than 175 to me.
Canson said on 2/Sep/16
@Rob: he actually looks like he may be a bit taller maybe 5'9.25 out of bed 5'8.5 at night. Around his claim Or maybe it's the hair.

Neymar with Gabigol on the right, who's listed 176cm. Even though Neymar is clearly slouching, there seems to be atleast 2 inch difference to me! (If Neymar was standing straight)
Johnson said on 27/Jul/16
@blink thanks it is at 13 minutes. Funny because Mascherano and Neymar are exactly the same in my opinion
said on 25/Jul/16
@Johnson He was talking about Barcelona players.
He says: "And Mascerano, who's 1,70m and is a giant"
The interviewer then says: "How tall are you?"
He answers: "I'm 1.75... standard height for a forward... not tall not short"
Johnson said on 22/Jul/16
@Blink do you have a link to the interview? Was it in Spanish? Was he interviewed how tall are you or what was the context?
Blink said on 21/Jul/16
In an interview on June the 12th he claimed 1.75 (5'9 or 5'8.75 I think in inches?)
Johnson said on 18/Jul/16
He was measured in a clip of Barcelona his armspan (183 I think) and right on the side of his head there was a table indicating references with marks of height every 5 cms. The top of his head was around 174-175. Guessing the table starts at 170 cm tall. It is easy to guess Messi was around the end of the table wgen he was posing for armspan too

Neymar is less than Luciano Huck a Brazilian presenter who has 1.73
Height said on 14/Jun/16
@MD The hat position (more air space, not close to the head) on Lewis Hamilton and the fact that he is just a little closer to the camera could be adding some height to him.
said on 13/Jun/16
If you go to Hamilton's page, you see picture after picture showing him 171 MAX independent of the measurement you're talking about. He's not taller than listed. Point is that even if he was, it would not be by nearly enough to explain Neymar looking so short in the picture below.
Editor Rob: 5ft 8 flat for neymar is always possible, when there is half inch or so between people, it isn't a great deal.
said on 12/Jun/16
@Rob how many cm are there between Serena and Neymar in this video?
Editor Rob: I'd say he was at most 5ft 8 there.
said on 9/Jun/16
@MD Lewis Hamilton was measured around 171 but we don't know if he was actually 171 and a half at that moment. He was surprised. Why don't think he was at his very low at that moment? I have seen very good pics of Fernando Alonso with footballers like Alfonso Pérez and Michel Salgado and sportsmen and I can conclude he is a legit 171 cm tall guy (no less than 170.5 in any case). And Hamilton is taller than him. Hamilton is also very close to Oxlade and Walcott and no less than Cruise
F1 drivers pics comparing heights
MD said on 9/Jun/16
Yeah, that was what I'm seeing. There barely looks to be a difference, yet they are listed at nearly an inch apart.
said on 7/Jun/16
What's going on here with 5'7.5" Lewis Hamitlon? I mean, we can see footwear and the surface is flat.
Lewis Hamilton is listed almost and inch shorter, and from doing the research on his page, it's pretty clear he's no more than his listing. I'm confused.
Editor Rob: there doesn't look much between them...whether Hamilton is gaining anything more than a small fraction is harder to tell.

Pique 194cm impossible with kobe
plus said on 18/Apr/16
@175 cm I think he is 193 cm, but if Piqué was questioned: "Are you 192 cm?" and his answer was "Now I'm in 194 cm, I'm taller every time" I would rule out the possibility of him being measured in shoes.
plus said on 17/Apr/16
@175 cm (5ft 9.25)
Piqué was measured barefoot but it's an early measurement. It can happen with the very tall people. In Periscope Piqué said I think I am nowadays at 194 cm tall, saying that it was taller than before.
James St. said on 17/Apr/16
Extremely gifted, cheeky player. Wouldn't be surprised if his long arms help him with balance, acceleration (lever) and quick change of directions. His arm length to height ratio (182cm/173cm = 1.05) seems to be pretty close to that of Bruce Lee's --> 183/171 = 1.07
The Da Vinci ratio is 1:1.
Contrast that with boxing legend Rocky Marciano --> 173/178 = 0.97 who made the most of his short arms by honing his inside fighting skills.
The great Ali had a 198/191 = 1.036 ratio

5ft 9.25 said on 18/Mar/16
Neymar has a bad posture.
MD said on 17/Mar/16
Huh? Picture down the page, shows that if anything that difference between him and Messi is less than currently what's listed. There is no way it's more than that.
5ft 9.25 said on 14/Mar/16
At his first medical of Barcelona he got measured 175cms. Rob, you can't list him 5ft 8.25 and Messi 5ft 6.5 at the same time, this is just "wishful thinking",- cause you might favor Leo? ;)
hhhhh said on 26/Feb/16
yes adriano is 173.3cm in the medical check video so that would put neymar between 174-175cm

MD, also look at him with Kobe... He looks almost an head shorter! 5'9 is obviously a big joke for him and 5'8 flat, as you say, is probably the most he might be!

Neymar with 6'0.5" Rafa Nadel:
Honestly, there isn't much to glean from these given the angle and Neymar leaning so much. But, I do think it shows how silly the 5'9" listings were.
MD said on 25/Mar/15
That's what I was thinking, a flat 5'8" for Neymar.
said on 23/Mar/15
Here is a picture of Neymar (second from right) with Messi (far left):
Is it more likely that Neymar is more a flat 5'8", or is Messi currently underlisted? I mean, if they stood side-by-side this is ever-so-slightly less than the currently 1.75" between the two, right? I'm thinking Neymar is more a flat 5'8".
[Editor Rob: there can look around 1.5 between them generally, 5ft 8.25 is the most I think Neymar can typically look, 5ft 8 flat is of course just as possible.]
