He was always wearing those big boots on the andy griffith show, those heels looked pretty suspicious to me. In matlock he was only as tall as his female lead. I don't think he shrunk that much, I think he was heightening.

Andy was about 5'11'' during the Andy Griffith show. During the 80's and his Matlock years you could see that he had shrunken considerably. I would say he's was 5'8" or 5'9". LG69 says on 4/Dec/10
Andy and "Gomer" looked almost the same height in an episode of "The Andy Griffith Show", and Jim was known to be about 6'. At his peak, I'd say Andy was at least 5'11" but no more than 6'0. James says on 7/Nov/10
Andy is very short, these days. You see him shopping around where he lives in NC. My guess, 5 foot 6 or shorter. |
