Seems like many sports and competitions can get the heights and weights wrong.

I was just watching the Contender Asia, and they had Yodsenklai at 171 and John Wayne Parr at 180.
I know that Yodsenklai is atleast 168(he's shorter than 170 Dzhabar) and JWP is 177(Hes shorter than legit 183 Kim Khan Zaki)
And some heights are given differently in different countries, almost by an inch.

I saw an interview where Kaz interviewed Misha Koklyaev and Vasyl Virastyuk (from the Arnold Classics). Misha is listened as 6'2 and Vasyl as 6'2.5 and Kaz was around their height. At his prime Bill could've been almost 6'3 but nowadays he is a legit 6'2 (which is still really tall).
Dago Red says on 5/Nov/09
Kaz benched 666 before bench shirts, in 1981 no less. If he was in his prime today he'd be benching 800 no doubt.
LG69 says on 29/Oct/09
Kaz was probably the strongest man in history. I used to watch those "Worlds Strongest Man" episodes because of Kaz. I always thought he looked 6'2" minimum...6'3"maximum.

I don´t know about Kazmaiers´height but I do know that in his prime he was the strongest man in the world, and one of the strongest that ever lived.
Kaz´ strength was unbelievable!!!

You are correct Sir. THE strongest man to have ever lived. SHEAR BRUTE strength.

Rika,

I don't think he's 6'3" anymore...haha. In fact, I don't think he was ever a full 6'3". I believe he was 6'2.5" in his younger days and about 6'1.5" today.

I remember him. His stats said 188cm everytime they showed him. In the Pic he does look about 6'2.

No they didn't. 6'3" everytime. IF you saw 188, it was converted for Europe's metric system and done incorrectly. In the states, he was listed at 6'3" everytime.

Which ever was the wrong, in the states it was 6'3. World Wide it was 188cm and 150-160kg, i think it was 160? i dont quite remember it. Most Strongmen are usually over 120kg.
He looks a strong 6'2 in the pic, he may have been 6'3 in the past. So Danimal, you can keep defending the fact he WAS 6'3, but not anymore.
i still remember the 188cm height listing. I was actually surprised he won the 1980 one because there were shorter but more muscular guys in that event.
Cobra says on 13/Oct/09
Just saw a vid of the strongman cup in Belarus 2006, Mariusz is listed as 187 cm and 133 kg. I would say he is more 185-186 though.

6'2" max.....just like every other major athlete of their time height was usually increased at least an inch...everyone does it in the sports arena.......anyway my brother met the man in person and shook the mans hand... he was not 6'3"...6'2"(I dont think people realize how tall a legit 6'2" actually is) max...my bro is 6'4"....barefoot not with shoes and said he had at least a couple of inches on kazmaire with no problem. What you think of that Danimal...huh???? What????..lol..thats what I thought!!!!!!!!!

I dont think he was ever 6'3"..maybe with shoes on....6'1.5 to 6'2 max...but then again thats still a very big man considering his body mass...6'1"...is considered 3 to 4 inches above normal height.

And your basing this on what? What you think he should have been, or what he really was? He was 6'3".
Weights are good says on 11/Oct/09
I'll take your word for it Sandro, seeing as you've actually met Mariusz. To me he appears in the 5'11 range on t.v but assuming that he is actually 6ft (which is believable) I think it's unfair that he does sometimes get listed 5'11. Although It can be quite difficult accurately gauging his height due to his sheer bulk to height ratio, and given that alot of the other competitors are way over 6ft it may make Pudzianowski look even shorter by comparison.

I took a pic with Mariusz back in 2007 in Venice Beach and he is definetely between 6' or 6'1 not shorter. I'm 5'11 and he is clearly at least an inch taller than me. I was kind of surprised because he was listed at 5'11 at one time and does look shorter in person. If anyone can tell me how to attach the picture I will post it.

Pudzianowski has never looked 6'1 to me, even in his early career. Having said that he may well be close to 6 feet and finishes up closer to 5'11 at the end of the day. The spinal compression experienced will only be further exacerbated in the Strongman events where competitors are lifting such heavy loads, however the strength of their backs may help somewhat to minimise this loss (assuming they don't have spinal problems). Mariusz for the most part looks in the 5'11-5'11.5 range

I have very good news for you John Q Public ! I don't think you will lose
any height at all before you reach 50 ! Even so , maybe a litttle ! Because
I see you lead a very healthy life style which is not only good for your
height but also your over all health ! The concept of height Loss due to
weight training is nothing but a myth !In the cases of people like Hulk Hogan
and Andre the Giant , well these are diffirent stories !

Come on, you need a peak height and a at age 100 on this. If he looks 6'2 now he was 6'3 back in the 70's in his prime, he was listed at 6'3 when he played football at Auburn.
Cobra says on 10/Oct/09
I already said it to Rob about Pudzian, but either he didn`t recognized it or don`t know.
Mariusz is def. over 6ft, close to 6ft1 in IMO, the 5ft11 was a mistake I think.

Polish Strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski should be listed on this site. According to Wikepedia he has won more World's Strongest Man titles than any other competitor and watching his speed, stamina and power in the events it's no wonder why! He's listed on some sites at 6'1, though consistently gets 5'11 on televised events.

Having every single televevised WSM competition of Mariusz from 2000-2008, his height would one year by 5'11" and the nest 6'1" and the next 6'0" even and it would go up and down. Bill's height was standard at 6'3" from 1979-1989.

I think he was 190cm at one time. He does look closer to 6'2 188cm nowadays.

Can anyone tell me when I can expect to lose height? I'm 5'11" barefooted with good posture, I used to lift weights like a fanatic, suffer from degenerative discs, since I was 25. Now I'm 33 , I weigh 190 lbs. still good build and light ab work and back stretches to keep good posture and 10 minutes everyday of spinal decompression on inversion table. Can I stave off the height loss that hits so many people as they age? I could handle losing down to 5'10" 3/4" , because a quarter inch loss wouldn't be that big a deal.

I've seen a lot of old timers that were famous and that lifted heavy weights in their prime get shorter as they age, like Hulk Hogan and Kazmaier , ect. What can be done?

I thought he was listed at 6'1" during his competition days.

I have every competition he ever entered (1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1987, 1988, 1989).....ALWAYS 6'3". Weight varied from 320-340 pounds. ONE commentator stated his height as 6'2.5" in 1980. Was roughly the same height as 6'3" Jon Pall Sigmarsson, 6'3" Lars Hedlund and about 3" shorter than than 6'5.5"'6'6" PRIME Geoff Capes.

Okay, gotta say it. He was the strongest man who EVER lived. What he did from 1979-1982, NO ONE MAN will ever be able to do. A true legend. His official height WAS 6'3", but as a commentator once stated in 1980, he's actually closer to 6'2.5". This man used to weigh 340 pounds of muscle. Nothing but pure respect for this man. Today at 56 years of age, he's lost height, but he WAS 6'2.5" and rounded to 6'3" to simplify things.
