I met Billy Bob in New Mexico when he was filming a movie there several years ago. He stopped to admire my motorcycle briefly and we chatted for a few minutes. I had no idea who he was at the time and I didn't put it together until he gave me an autographed picture of his character from Armageddon. I am 6'4" and he stood about chin level with me. I didn't notice if he was wearing cowboy boots or not but I would put him at about 6' at the time. Although in pictures his frame would suggest that he's a little shorter. Very nice person to meet, he was very down to earth and polite.

There is a scene in "A simple plan" in which Billy Bob is standing next to Bill Paxton (5'11.5 according to this website). Both are shown in stocking feet in a full body shot from head to toe, so there can be no mistaking that neither man was wearing shoes or boots. Billy Bob was obviously a good three inches shorter than Paxton. This guy is only about 5'8 or so.

I agree with you 17,181 but I must say its weird--I'm a strong 5'10.5 (5'11.25 morning/5'10.25 night) and I feel short in comparison to a lot of people. Maybe it's just that our eyes are 4 inches below our heads and it makes me think that if I can't see over people's heads, I'm not taller than them. However, when I take pictures with the same people, it reaffirms that I'm taller than them and I don't feel short anymore. Random, yes. Weird, very. But thought I'd share that little tidbit anyways.

Well I meant to say that relatively, for what I expected. You know, his body/face build would give the impresion he's between 6 feet (as he said) and 6'3. It's kind of shocking that he's shorter than Clooney, but not like a cm shorter, more like 3 cms shorter. Kinda disappointing he's not his claimed height.

Have anybody seen a movie "A Simple Plan"? In one scene Billy Bob and Bill Paxton were barefoot (sox only). A scene was short and I was looking it on television so I didn't have enough time to evaluate the difference. It was at least two inches (to me it actually looked more - based on that movie I would put BBT below 5ft10). It's interesting to see difference between these two guys when in boots and when barefoot - the height difference is noticeably greater when they are barefoot. You should check that movie.

I have an cousin who works for ESPN. She said that when he came in to do an interview, she was in charge of putting a mic on him. She said that he was just about as tall as she is. And she's 5'7". My guess is that all the publicly stated stuff is inflated. 5'7" is most likely correct.

5'10 tops. I can't seem to find any pics of the particular scene, but watch Monster's Ball and the scene where Heath Ledger, P. Diddy, and Billy Bob are walking down the hallway for P. Diddy's character's last walk. For one, Heath Ledger is noticeably taller than Billy Bob by 3 - 4 inches and P. Diddy wears flip-flops in this scene and still has a bit of an advantage over Billy Bob.

The height he is listed at here ia about right. His bad posture often makes him appear a little shorter. You can see he is quite tall from the film Monsters Ball. He looks a little bit taller than rap king P Diddy. There ia a scene where Thornton is walking beside him [Diddy]as he is being taken to the electric chair. I still wouldn't be surprised if Thornton was a bit taller as he is a bad sloucher. I think he probably was 6ft at his peak and about 5'11, 5'11.5 now.

That baseball reference site is half right, and half wrong. I know that Barry Bonds really is 6-1 because he was always listed as that until a few years ago. Plus Mr. R saw the man in real life and says 6-1 as well. That site lists heights when they first break into the league, so its either inflating them or telling the truth off the bat. In Luis Matos case, it was inflating him. They list him at 6-2 on baseball reference, when in fact now hes listed at 6-0, which is his true height.

I see Damon consistantly listed at 6'2'', except on 1 site and that is baseball reference.com....a site notorious for downgrading players' heights and weights...this is a site that lists Jason Giambi at a laughable 200 lbs, when he was really over 230 and Jim Thome at 220, when he's really pushing 250...so according to the numerous sites which list Damon at 6'2'', Billy Bob could be a six-footer...

baseball reference.com is NOT to be trusted as an accurate guide for heights...other mistakes on the site include:

David Eckstien listed at 5'6'', when he's really 5'7'' and change

Barry Bonds listed at 6'1'', while it's common knowledge from any other source that he's a strong 6'2''

Curt Schilling listed at 6'4'' 215 lbs, when he's actually 6'5'' 235

Endy Chavez listed at 6'0'', when he's commonly listed at either 5'9'' or 5'10'' on other more official sites

Billy Wagner listed at 5'10'', when the Phillies claim that he's 5'11.5''

Jake Peavy listed 6'1'' when he's 6, Shannon Stewart 6, when he's 5'11, ... ok i think i've proved my point..

I have also observed that at least 75% of the weights on this site are wrong, most up to or over 20 lbs...that's quite significant...at 1 point Sidney Ponson's weight was off by over 5o lbs...go figure

I just saw a pic of 6-0 Boston Red Sox star Johnny Damon next Billy Bob at the Home run Derby. Baseball reference.com lists his height as that. If you go to the Major league baseball site and click on 2005 home run derby all star pics you will see this .Johnny looked 1 inch taller, so 5-11 is correct.
