Oh gosh...5'8" is as much a joke for Billy as 5'7" and probably even 5'62 is too high for this guy. He is really short. No arguing here. Elton John who I saw Saturday in concert two days ago is already a little fella. But hell even he has2 inches on Billy Joel. get real folks. Jen says on 29/Jun/08
In a People magazine article from 1977 his height is listed as 5 foot 8. I think that's an exaggeration or wishful thinking. He may have been 5'7" in his 20's, but I doubt if he was any taller. My cousin's husband saw him in person at the Nassau Coliseum with Christie Brinkley (sometime in the late 80's). They were walking down the hallway and he (cousin's husband) recognized them both. He said that Billy was "a little guy." He also said that Christie was tall and beautiful (no surprise there). My guess is he's about 5-5 or 5-6 nowadays. In photos of him with other celebrities (men or women), he's almost always shorter than them.

Just some tidbits - Joel was an amateur boxer in his teens - the perils of being a piano student and short to boot. He made it to the Golden Gloves level but quit to concentrate on his music, winning 22 of 25 matches as a lightweight from age 15 - 17. Saw him live, put impossible to judge his height, I think actually taller than 168 cm is possible, I'll leave it with that.

Joel was on Conan O'Brien the other night. It might ahve been a re-run but I couldn't believe how short he was. After playing a song, he shook Conan's hand without getting off of the stool. 5 feet 6 inches, hes a little guy about an inch and a half shorter than my uncle which it 5 feet 7 and a half inches, BTW I saw him on american chopper with the teutuls I was trying to see how tall the teutuls are but at the time I didnt know Billy's height but discovery channel is good like that because they will play episodes at different times and they will play an episode later in the night so I can find the height of the teutuls b/c they are not listed, someone correct me if im wrong Glenn says on 29/Mar/06

yes i agree with glenn . my grandmom and my ant both saw him in person and they both said ' *ABOUT* 5'5 ' .iam willing to bet he is only 5'4ish . if you watch the video to - the longest time , he was alot smaller then the rest of the guys in that video ....and iam pretty sure those guys in the video are not that big ? he has always been listed at 5'6 1/2 , but i think thats morning height with hair and shoes . lifts maybe ?
