I'd say the estimation of Bob Sapp being 6'4.25" is dead on. He definitely looked like a solid 6'4" next to 6'0" Kazuyuki Fujita and 6'1" Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. He is an animal. It's too bad he couldn't take punches very well, or he would have won a lot more.

I went to the UW in the ninetees and actually lived on the same floor with Bob in Haggett Hall when he redshirted is Freshman year. Super nice guy. I even cut his hair once. At the time, he was listed at 6-3. But that was when he was 18, so I believe 6-4 to be accurate. But the guy was extremely wide. He was a mammoth. Bob Sapp himself has stated that he is 6'4". The NFL listed him as 6'4" and for the NFL rarely ever lists anyone over their correct height. For the most part, the NFL and NBA tend to list athletes about an inch higher than their real height so 6'4" sounds right. supersonic says on 22/Jan/08
I met Bob Sapp at the U of Washington gym one time. I'm a UW Husky alum and so is Sapp. He played football here. He is a huge man and my friend who is himself 6'0 1/2 described him as "the biggest guy ever."
He is not 2 meters tall. Definitely not 6'5 but taller than 6'3... so 6'4 sounds about right. I shook his hand and I'm exactly 5'10. He's huge though. He didn't look like the typical chubby college lineman. Rumors from the weight room said he could bench 560 using a more "closed grip" style! To me he looks no more than 2cm taller than 189 Ernesto Hoost (although Hoost is pretty skinny). In fact, I thought they were about the same height. He just does not tower the opponents, so I give him 190 at most. Which makes Fishburne about 180, too, since Sapp looks like having about 13cm over Fishburne, but Sapp's shoes in the photo were HUGE! Warren sapp is listed at 6'2 so his lowest height can be 6'1 1/2. NHL rounds there players off, they dont just give them a full inch. Tom Brady was measured as 6'4 1/4 and is listed as 6'4. Rob, how do you reconcile the two photos you link at the top of this page? Mr. X looks about 2.5" taller than Fishburne, but then Sapp looks about 5" taller than Mr. X. This math totals 6'7.75" for Sapp, which we know is not possible. Are you sure it's the same "Mr. X" in both photos? A careful look at Sapp's footwear might lead one to believe they have been "engineered!"
[Editor Rob: I don't, I leave it up there as an example of head scratching ;-) Sometimes even a few inches of difference between 2 subjects very close to the camera can enhance one person to look up to an inch taller...there is another pic where it appears the guy with glasses might be looking slightly up at clinton...not conclusive, but fishburne can arguably look 5ft 11 sometimes if he's in thin sandals which he sometimes wears

Yep, they bill him as 200 cm in Japan. Probably because Pride over there is ran by wrestling-type promoters and there is a lot of crossover with pro-wrestling (which is treated like a legit sport over there by the media). They also billed him as "Warren Sapp's cousin" which is bogus.

[Editor Rob: yes on Pride he gets listed 190cm...in the English version. Pride Japanese page gives a 200cm and 170kg listing??? Look at Bobby Southworth...183cm in Japanese original, 180cm in English.
Since 0.334*12 does equate to 4.008, that's what I thought he might have meant. In the same way I'm 5ft 8 inch, I'm also actually 5.667 foot.
But, it would be interesting to find what his draft combine height was...if he got listed 6ft 4 by nfl, it could have been as low as 6ft 3 and 5/8ths?
