I’ve never met Dave but I think he’s a giant among musical men. My question is if Dave has said how tall he is why is everyone speculating further?. I thought he was 6’2” but maybe the other band members aren’t that tall? Who cares. Procrastination will make you look up how tall Dave Grohl is. Let that be a warning kids.

I'm 5' 9.75" and had 1" trainers on, so was stood at 5' 10.75".
Dave Grohl was wearing red Converse and was comfortably over 2 inches taller than me. He looked 6' 1" in footwear - Converse don't give a full inch either!
In summary, he looked 6' 0 25" even with less footwear and the ground was flat, etc.
However...
This was at 12:45 pm on my lunch break - my shift began at 8 am and I was up at 5:45 am.
He was staying at The Four Seasons Hotel nearby and walking around with his security before the show.
So... maybe he'd only been up since about 10:30 / 11 am ish... ?

I think 5 ft 10 for Taylor. He was a skinny guy who with his long hair and limbs could give the impression of being taller I think. His height varies a lot next to Dave, he can look shorter than 5 ft 10, but that seems to be about right.

Definitely 6 ft. Compared to other celebrities you often see Dave in flat shoes which perceives him shorter than 6 ft sometimes. Look at several others who have shoes with heels and maybe even hidden soles.

He was wearing boots but i very much doubt he was getting more than 1.5 inches from them. Jeff hanneman looked to be 5'9-5'10 and Kerry King was incredibly short, my initial impression was 5'4.

Rob, if this listing of Grohl is accurate, which it definitely looks to be, how tall do you think M Shadows (singer of Avenged Sevenfold) is? I've seen him listed closer to 6"1 but in these pictures he looks to be the same height (if a hair shorter??) than Grohl? I'm not sure if it's the camera angle or shoes or what, but I've always had trouble trying to gague this dude's height

Thanks so much for answering Rob!! I hadn't seen that all the other comments were about Serj xD. He is a curious case for sure. Have you considered making a page about him? He's in the spotlight for a couple of years now that SOAD have reformed. Oh and out of curiosity, do you listen to SOAD? :)

To think that people claim Barkley is 6'4", when we know that Barkley was practically the same height as Krist in their infamous pic on SNL in the 1990's.

He often looks like he has to stretch himself as tall as possible to look like a genuine 6 footer. Like in the photograph above. I bet with loose posture and flat footwear, he could easily fool people into thinking he's just a 5' 11" guy in person. He edges out Richie Sambora in photos, so 6' 0" seems correct.

Editor Rob no you wouldn't rule that mark out either. The height chart has potential to add more height than is imagined. I once did an experiment and got near 6ft myself in shoes with the right angle against a 'chart' of sorts.

He was signing a girl's CD and looked a couple of inches shorter than me (I'm 5'10 and a half) but then when I went over to speak to him he straightened up and was exactly the same height. So I think he has a tendency to crouch, but is around 5'10-11. He always seems to wear flat converse/vans, so someone that is six foot wearing heeled shoes i.e. kid rock, jay leno would seem a couple of inches taller, even though they are around the same height.

Maybe you guys right, i saw a picture on Taylor Hawkins and Anthony Kiedis and they look to be at the same height actually. When the one by one website listed the Foo Fighters height they listed something like this: Dave Grohl 6,5 and Taylor Hawkins 5,11 and Chris 5,4, sounds really wrong to me.

Well he is taller than Kurt like kurt is to his eyes so i think about 5,11 to 6 or something not less than that but make that 5,11 a 5,11 and a half

Now, something has got me confused. Just saw him on the Tonight show with Jay Leno, and he was clearly (but only slightly) shorter than Jay Leno at the end of the show. Dave was in plain, thin-soled tennis shoes, and Jay, of course, was in his low-heeled dress shoes, but maybe they really would give him 2" to make him look 6'1"

yeah, i have met him and he looked this tall...maybe even 6 feet and a little change...it was hard to say because he was on the thin side but def. 6 foot
