Yeah Anon. I noticed those huge lifts he wore running on the beach in those red shorts for Baywatch too. Looked no more than 5'7". LOL. The Hoff at peak stood noticeably taller than even 6'1" listed people like Michael Bergin barefoot!! He was also similar in height to the real- life lanky lifeguard on Baywatch, Newmie who is also listed at 6'4" and looks about that tall, and Newmie was similar to how Tom Selleck looked back in the 80s before he gained the weight. Same build. It always used to make me laugh in the opening credit with Newmie running into the waves, he's all legs and looked like he was hurdling. Pamela Anderson claimed Hoff was 6'5" and I don't think in his prime he was that far off, that height in low dress shoes maybe. Agree he looks a weak 6'4" next to that 6'6" bloke today though. It looks like someone already beat me to it but I watched David on Whose Line recently and noticed the ridiculous lifts he was wearing on his feet. I also noticed he was a fairly decent amount shorter than Ryan even with those ridiculous shoes so I'm shocked to see him listed as 6'4. Exactly James, Hasselhoff, Neeson, Goldblum and Robbins (and Christopher Lee one of my favourites) are perfect examples of legit 6'4" ers most of them have given off an appearance of near 6'6" in shoes at times. 6'4.5" peak is not out of question for any of them, Robbins in my view looks nearer 6'5". I can't see Sutherland peak over 6'3" barefoot he just never looked as tall as those mentioned above, Eastwood either. I think he was 6'3" peak max, 6'4" in shoes. Look, I was born in '84 and Knight Rider series are from '82... the show is way before I was born. I only got to see it for the first time about a year or two ago on the Star World channel with their cheap re-runs of old shows. I didn't say Knight Rider sucks or anything like that, I just said it wasn't to my taste just like almost any show from the 80's, it just seems to old style and everything too old fashioned to my liking. Just the intro music to Knight Rider gave me a headache everytime... Altho probably if I was born in the '70s and watched Knight Rider while growing up when it was originally playing, perhaps I would see that TV show as a 'bad ass' as well :P. I like old westerns from the '60s even tho those been made way way before I was born but Knight Rider just doesn't do it for me.... haha end of story, just wanted to clear things up so any Knight Rider fans here will not get offended as it was not my intention.
Anyway back to the main subject David Hasselhoff looks a solid 6'4", even tho I firmly believe he's a 6'4", I said he *looks* (but I know he's 6'4") more 6'2ish on Knight Rider is perhaps on Knight Rider he's very thin and I'm used to seeing him in his later years when he's more developed with more meat on him and broader which attributes even more to his height imho.

As much as I hate that TV programme it used to be everyday on Star World channel at an hour that there was nothing better to watch on other channels so I got to see a lot of episodes and I don't know why he just looks there like a scrawny 6'2" guy.
Don't get me wrong I firmly believe that Dave is a full 6'4", but on Knight Rider he just didn't seem that tall to me but rather just tallish and scrawny.
Anyway lucky him, 6'4" is an awesome height and besides that he's rich and handsome, all the ladies love Hasselhoff LOL
And for anonymous guy commenting on Bob Spencer he was a former professional swimminer in his youth, they measured him at 194cm, I can't see him under 193cm in his youth. Funny he used to be such a thin and fit guy in his swimmer days and he just turned freaking fat slob, altho I noticed he still mantained the V-shape physique with huge lats thanks to his professional swimming training back in the days. David's basically a nice guy. I knew him going back to when he tested for the role of Michael Knight in Knight Rider. I worked on the early presentation that was used to pre-sell that series. Then the pilot was shot. This is very unusual method to say the least. The network was hot for the idea so it was pre-sold. Hasselhoff was nice to everyone he worked with. Mr hasselhoff was just in sydney for the Arias, I happened to drop my uncle at the airport today , and the Hoff checked in right next to me, I chose to say nothing till my little cousin went running up to him, and I had the opportunity of meeting him. I am 185cm tall and I would say he was about 10cm taller , he seemed abit shorter then a friend of mine who is 199-200cm, as I am below his eyeline just, while hasselhoffs I was above . So I reckon he is about 194-195 odd cm, its hard to tell as I never really looked at his shoes. But he really could be bordering on 6'5", I have no doubt, and I would except claims of more depending on his footwear. Anonymous says on 2/Oct/05
Why would a male Hollywood downplay his height??? If he says 6'4" than that's exactly his height. I doubt he's over that mark. No Hollywood actor says that they are shorter than they are.

I worked at a children's hospital in 1987 that Hasselhoff was visiting. I was very close to him once and he was taller than me (I am 6'1). I would say 6'4 is correct. He didn't seem to be as tall as 6'6. Mr. R says on 11/Jul/05
When he was on The Young and the Restless in the 70's, he was head and shoulders above everyone, and may have been closer to 6-5. I saw him at a concert last year, and I walked behind him a few times, and he was definitely closer to 6-4. Gotxo says on 11/Jul/05
A deleted post stated a very similar opinion as yours Anshelm. A guy told that he spotted Hasselhoff on a premiere and he was more like 197cm, but for sure taller than his stated 6'4". Hmm so strange case as Rock Hudson's cuz has been reported either 6'4" & 6'6"...What do you think Rob?
[Editor Rob: Pamela Anderson said he was 6ft 5 aswell ;) One thing I'd say is The Hoff is consistant. Back aged 31 he said in a magazine "You already know I'm 6ft 4". Even earlier in young and the restless days he was being described at that height. His former wife also commented once, "I am generally not attraced to 6ft 4in men who look like Ken dolls". However, I agree though that he may be downplaying this so I at least give 1cm to him and will have another look and see how much he's lying ;) Sometimes he does wear cowboy boots though.] Anshelm says on 10/Jul/05
Interestingly, Finnish 197 cm (6'5˝") tall actor and director Timo Koivusalo claimed to be "exactly as tall as the Knight Rider". He could have been misinformed, of course; but what if they've met? At least Koivusalo's height looks right compared to former Prime Minister Paavo Lipponen (194 cm). Also, I remember that Hasselhoff looked clearly taller than Conan O'Brien, when he was a guest on his show. This was a while ago, so I'm not going to say by how much. He's more like 6ft 6, he was at a premiere, I work at the cinema and he was 4 inches taller than will Smith who is 6'2, and this guy is supposed to have shrunk with age, this is a definite case of rounding down. |
