Letterman was definitely 6'2" in his prime. The picture above is strange, maybe it's because of the footwear, maybe the ground was uneven. He's a little shorter now. Obama was definitely taller than him when they stood together a few days ago. They were shoulder to shoulder while talking to someone in the audience. I'd need to see a picture but I remember thinking that Obama was an inch taller than Dave. MD, you can choose to not believe me on this if you like, but I've met Key several times and he is close in height to me. As I say, I have noticed that I have a tendency to overestimate people/underestimate myself, but there is no way Key is less than 5'9". I wouldn't be 2 full inches taller than someone and think we were practically the same height. I noticed the height difference between him and Key, also, so it got me researching how tall Key is. I found a picture of him with 5'11" Gordon Brown, and Brown was at least two inches taller. Key is lucky if he ekes out a full 5'9". Personally, I think he's slightly under. Big T says on 24/Sep/09

Wow, Dave towered over NZ Prime Minister John Key. It was like a 4 inch difference maybe more? I've met Key many times and thought he was a weak 5'10", compared to my 5'10 1/2". I'm thinking maybe Key is only 5'9", as I do have a tendency to overestimate the height of people who are a similar height to me (I think because I have a funny build with short legs and big head, so I can feel the same height as someone but actually be an inch taller).

Look at this interview with Pete Sampras in 1994. Sampras is known to be 6' 1". Letterman looks an inch or two taller than Pete Sampras when they both walk over to the chef who is making them dinner (see at 5.02).
