David towered over Kathy Bates in Dolores Claiborne. She looked quite little and helpless.

Now, seeing he’s almost 6ft, it’s hardly surprising!

David also starred in a rather decent horror chiller called 'The Uninvited', which is well worth your while checking out if you like that sort of thing!

5ft11.5. The film hails from 2009, when David will have been 60, and he looked much the same height as he did in the 1995 Stephen King masterpiece, 'Dolores Claiborne'. If he had lost any, it'll have only been a very small amount.

Now 72, he's bound to have become a bit shorter.

Rob didn't you have him at 5'11 current and 5'11.5 peak? He's still pretty active and has a few upcoming projects in 2020 and 2021 as well. Recently on 'Billions' he looked about 3in taller than Giamatti. He was definitely around 5'11.5 in his prime, arguably 5'11.75. Not a big drop for a 71 year old guy.

I worked on the movie No God No Master and got the chance to stand next to the guy about dozen times during the shoot. He was wearing about 2" elevator shoes and a padded suit, but I also did get to stand next to him when he wasn't in costume. Out of costume I would say he was just under 5'11"

So ignored lol but seriously this guy hasn't been in much recently but he has given several memorable character actor performances in a number of good to great movies, so I think he deserves credits and a photo perhaps at the top.

Rob, could you add to his credits?: Eight Men Out, Sneakers, The River Wild, L.A. Confidential, Good Night, and Good Luck., The Bourne Ultimatum, Lincoln and Godzilla (2014). This guy looked to have probably more than inch than Russell Crowe I recall in L.A. Confidential.

i have watch the univited notice he did't look much over 2" taller than 5'8 Arielle Kebbel. he have could pass 5'10.5 and 5'10.75 max.

Funny when I saw him in the River Wild I thought he was a similar sort of height and had the same sort of "handsome geeky look" to Jeff Goldblum LOL. Hehe. I thought the man looked tall, more like 6'2", I noticed he towered above Kevin Bacon thats all.

realy looks close to clooney height could be 181 but clooney dosnt look under 180 by him i think clooney could very well be 5'10.75 since he does look 1 in on damon easy

I also met David Strathairn last night at the Good Night and Good Luck screening. I stood next to him, in front of him, and talked with him about his many John Sayles movies. He is about the same height as I, maybe a hair smaller. He is a little over 5'11". Not quite 6 feet.
