Rob,

Check out Macron's recent multiple shots with King Charles, and also Keir Starmer - both listed here as 5' 8.5"

He's actually pulling off 5' 9.25" with them - unless they are both shorter than listed...

They looked about the same height in comparison as Justin Bieber does in that shot below.

Could Macron be gaining help from 'footwear' at times?
Editor Rob
In Charles case, I think he's at an age he's shrank, but also does not hold himself that well.

I don't think Macron is following in Sarkozy's footsteps, but you never know!

@Brandon Churchill

You're probably joking but in case you aren't most people aren't actually measured for their passport, you have the ability to do it if you want to but no one's gonna force you, you could just say whatever you want. If you were forced to measure yourself he wouldn't be billed 5'8 to begin with. While I like the thought of Macron being 5'7.5-5'8 I think for an actual measurement he's more likely a solid 5'8-5'8.5 guy
Brandon Churchill said on 27/Apr/23
5'8 1/2". No way he is 5'10". He probably were lifts when he was measured for the passport.

Maybe Macron doesn't exceed 5ft7½. Yet in 2018 I thought the opposite. That's why I always thought he had shoes lifts. I discussed it in 2018 with Rob here. In most of the photos I've seen of Macron, he always seems to be around 174-175cm next to other people. I had concluded that it was almost 5ft9. As it says 5ft8, I thought about shoes lift. But there are actually photos where it looks 5ft8 like the one with Shinzo Abe. So it's complicated with Macron, sometimes he wears normal shoes and sometimes for the biggest occasions, he seems to wear shoes lift.

@Ajax
Yes it's the same shoes and you're right, the outer heel is normal compared to my photo. Nevertheless I myself own shoes lift (I am 175.6cm at my lowest, exactly like you apparently) I want to look close to 5ft11 on some occasions so I have several pairs of D**'s (without advertising). Well externally the heel seems normal but internally it's another story.
I recognize them the shoes lift, because they are still a little thick vertically and there can be a demarcation of the inner heel, visible on the outside. Just look at Trump's next to Macron. With Trump it's totally flat. Macron it is thick even if the heel is normal.
Then there are those where the outer heel is 2in as I thought at first

Draghi and him are similar in height, right. Draghi possibly shrank at least one inch from his peak though.

Sometimes he is smaller than Macron, and sometimes he is taller. And if we consider Macron wears shoes lift, Draghi probably is a legit 5ft8 currently (~ 5ft9½ peak probably)

Jean Castex: 6ft0½ (probably 6ft1 peak)
Olivier Véran: 6ft0
Édouard Philippe: 6ft2¼ (he claims 1.89m)
Alain Juppé: 5ft10¼ (5ft11½ peak)
Jean-Claude Gaudin: 5ft9¼ (5ft11½ peak)
Freddy said on 20/Apr/22
Personally what I could see in photos I think Zemmour is not below 5ft6 currently and could have been at 5ft8 peak if Naulleau was really at 5ft9¼ peak.

For a first estimate I would say:

Zemmour: 5ft8 peak - 5ft7¼ now

Naulleau: 5ft9 peak - 5ft8¼ now

Cyril Hanouna: 5ft8¼ (he claims 177cm)
Tunman said on 13/Apr/22

Zemmour looked maybe 2 or 2.25" smaller than 176 Eric Naulleau with whom he worked a lot like 10-12 years ago,at which time he must have been still at his peak.If Naulleau is truly 176,Zemmour must have been 5'7-7.25"back then and maybe a fraction less today.5'4 is a joke,he looks comfortably taller than that

Rob: How tall would you say Eric Zemmour is, since he’s currently running for president of France? I’ve seen 5’4 listings online, but I doubt he’s that low. He seems in the 167/168 vicinity to me.
Editor Rob
Posture wise, I can understand he might look 5ft 4 at times, but surely 5ft 5 at least?

@mande & Rob. On many websites , he is listed at 173 cm. I could only find one where is listed at 167 cm. 173 cm seems possible, after all he does not appear to be short .
Editor Rob
Wouldn't have guessed him as tall as 5ft 8.

@Rob. Maybe he has inflated a bit his height. 173 cm seems more acceptable for a presidential candidate than 167 cm. Anyhow, thats still 6 cm difference and a big inflation.

6’2.5” Jacques Chirac was clearly taller than Philippe in photos and Philippe’s father Charles had about 2-3 inches on him. As today marks Philippe’s 100th birthday, I feel there would be no better time to add him.
Editor Rob
In photos of Philippe he strikes a tall impression in that era. Unfortunately like many of his contemporaries, his height is rarely searched for, well not in UK/US, maybe more in France.

@Cjcjcj: You're not only rude and needlessly insulting, but you're annoying as well. I know full well that more modest elevator shoes give about 2" actual height meaning only about 1" advantage compared to normal shoes. I've never suggested otherwise and it's annoying that your "corrections" imply I have. In other words, a 5'8" man in a 2" elevator shoe will look similar to a 5'9" man in normal shoes. We all know this. Of course, a normal range shoe could be 0.2" over or under 1". Some styles can add 1.5" range, but that's getting into thicker territory like a Timberland boot.

As for Macron, I suspect he's not quite 5'8" and wears small lifts at times.

5'8" sounds right for him. I see some people here saying he's a skinny guy but he's not THAT thin....he's actually rather stocky, with a broad chest/waist (for his height) but he does have a short torso and long legs, which makes him seem taller. Most French guys I know have relatively small frames like him but are skinnier actually. His wife Brigitte is built like a lot of French women I know too - very very thin arms and legs, with almost zero calf definition. She looks no more than 5'3" to me but her long, super skinny legs make look a lot taller. I actually think she's too thin and rather scary looking...that fake leathery tan and blond wig, no wonder Trump likes her, she reminds him of himself.

Of course,up to everyone to choose the person who fits him the best

I've met Mauricio Macri. He looks to me about 1 1/2 to 2 inches taller than me. I'm now a bit over 5'8", so I figure Macri should be between 5'9.5" and 5'10". He's marginally taller than Xi Jinping.
Truds said on 28/Jan/18
Rob, what are your thoughts about Mauricio Macri's height?

Looks at least an inch taller than Macron.
Editor Rob
Could be a couple of inches taller than Macron.

He appears to be about 2 inches/5 cm taller than Putin, I'd say.
It's hard to find a picture that is not taken at an angle and where they are both standing still.
PhysicsEnemy said on 2/Dec/17
He's 0.5" shorter than Rob, so 5' 7.75". Likely lift wearer and height inflator.

He said on a radio show that he is 177 cm but that is not true because his size was knowned and recongnized before his presidence's accession and was 173 cm.

@Angel who wrote "Classic short french president"
Maybe true this last 30 years since François Mitterand but not before him.
De Gaulle was 193 cm, Giscard d'Estaing was 187cm, Chirac was in is prime 187cm and even Pompidou was 180 cm.

Watch at 9:01 Click Here Emmanuel Macron himself saying he is 1.77m ("un mètre soixante-dix-sept") which is 5ft 9.69in.
Now a political individual who wouldn't conveniently twist his image and dimensions would be a fool, so up to everyone to built his own "measure". Notice that none dared to offer him to go under the toise...

Rob you are a real 173 cm so who can better know if he is really 173 cm. He is 173 cm, 171-172 cm or taller?
Editor Rob
I've felt Macron can pull off looking near my height, I would be more surprised if he was 5ft 7.5 than 8 range.
John Sanders said on 12/Jul/17
Everything in this blog is false: first Trump is 6ft3, not 6ft 0.5 as written in the above top list. Second, the data from the civil or military services that have been collected for the same 20 yrs age group at the same year shows that the average height in UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece are exactly the same up to half an inch (one centimeter). In 2017, this average is about 5ft9.5 contrary to what Vince said (he said wrongly that "French men are generally around the 5'7"-5'9" range, quite short for Europe. This staement by Vince is entirely false). Actually, the two most important ministers of Macron are the prime minister Edouard Philippe ( 6ft 4) and Bruno Lemaire (6 ft 3, both taller than Trump.
Now that I have told you that height is essentially the same in all large occidental countries, let's concentrate on the brain !
VK said on 9/Jul/17
Wow. I guessed his height around 5'9 and possible a weak 5'10. However i have not looked at him that much compared to other world leaders. I guess 5'8 is right for him.

When he was announced as President he walked out to meet the crowd and was doing this strange walk towards the camera for about 40 seconds, it was the walk of someone wearing high shoes lifts. Probably 2 or 3 inches shorter than he claims.

@ Sandy Cowell - Hi!

It's so true what you have said in your comment. Yes it is been on my mind a bit recently about what Rob said makes someone an attractive person, and I don't think he could have put it any better! I also think it's great that you consider someone's life story as being the thie thing that defines them, I share that opinion too!
Believing in yourself is important, it can be very difficult for some people to be positive and believe in themselves but you would hope that everyone would ultimately find a way of achieving this. I agree that every height should be celebrated and that there is no such thing as a man's height or a woman's height and neither is there a superior or inferior level of height, for men or women. I know that you and Rob share those beliefs too.
Funnily enough I have also been thinking recently that there are advantages and disadvantages of all levels of height.

Have a great weekend Sandy!
Sandy Cowell said on 10/Jun/17
@ Nik - After giving it some thought, I have come to the rather easy conclusion that all heights have advantages and disadvantages, but whether a height is attractive or not all depends on the confidence of the person! I'm sure you've said these words yourself: 'every height should be celebrated' and it doesn't matter if the height belongs to a man or a woman!
Yes, believing in yourself is the key! I did like Rob's recent summary about what he finds adds up to an attractive person, didn't you, and that it's what you do in your lifetime that defines you - not your height!!!
Nik said on 8/Jun/17
@ Sandy Cowell

Yes I know you were, I was just peeing about too! Well some heights are more common for men and more common for women but there are millions of men about who are 5'3" and millions of women about who are 5'9", so like you said no height is more of a man's height than a woman's height, I didn't men that either.
Yes names are a different matter, it is interesting that you get certain names that are boys and girls names!

👍
Sandy Cowell said on 8/Jun/17
@ Nik - I was only peeing about! No height is more of a man's height than it is a woman's, and vice versa, other than what society makes it out to be!
Now names are a different matter...!

Give me 20 years and I will be Nicola! Ha ha!

What height do you reckon is no more a man's height than a women's height (and vice versa)? I would say about 5'6.5".

Actually It's maybe 15 years until i am Nicola then!

He can have 5'7.75" from me too!

His 63 years old wife looks better than Marine Le Pen ( 48 )
Vince said on 7/Jun/17
Tricky one, could easily wear lifts and seem normal bcs he's thinly built. I'd have to say he doesn't look under 5'7.75" on any occassion. French men are generally around the 5'7"-5'9" range, quite short for Europe.
Steven said on 7/Jun/17
Maybe it's bc of his stocky build, but he looks about 5'7 exact
Allie said on 7/Jun/17
So he beat Le Pen. Still kind of shocked but at the same time not surprised.
Sandy Cowell said on 6/Jun/17
He has a bit of a girlie name! A couple of inches shorter and he'd have a girlie height as well, albeit a very nice one!
Give him 25 years and he'll be Emmanuelle!
He can have 5ft7 and three quarters, a chocolate mouse and a couple of pink hair ribbons for later!
Sam said on 5/Jun/17
His hands are bigger than Trump's despite his being 6 inches shorter than Trump at peak, lol.
Chris said on 5/Jun/17
If Macron is 5'8,Trump should be at least a solid 6'1 nowadays. He was much below Trump's eye level.
James said on 4/Jun/17
He seems a weak 5'8" to me. I know many weak 5'8"s who claim to be 5'9"-5'11" for some unknown reason. He is not 177 as he claimed, he's got a slim build which elongates him and his suits are likely tailored. Id bet on 173cm in the morning and 171cm at night so 5'7.5" steady.
MrFish said on 3/Jun/17
Rob, how tall does Shinzo Abe look next to him? I can't see Abe above 174 if Macron is 5ft 8in.
Editor Rob
yes, he could be 174-5 range when measured.

finally you listed him rob, good!

He looks a weak 5'8 next to filon and melenchon during french debates.
Phil said on 31/May/17
Yes he is 5 foot 8. He is a skinny guy . That's why he can look like a 5 foot 9 guy.
Paul said on 30/May/17
I think his height in that Putin picture could just be a slight angle. In other shots of the meeting Macron can look obviously taller than him: Click Here
Tunman said on 30/May/17
Finally,a listing for Macron, well he seemed somewhere from 1 to 1.5"taller than Hollande listed 5'7 but more likely 5'6.5"nowadays.so 5'8 is fair enough.I remember having asked about him and Le Pen recently, and yeah Le Pen is more like 5'7 range rather than 174,in fact I once saw a listing that gave her 170 but it seems to have disappeared, could be the right mark for her,btw with what seemed to be around 2" heels she looked a solid 1.5" taller than Hamon who is listed at 169 again a fair mark,so perhaps 5'7 flat for her and 5'8 for Macron.
