Poor Panhandle has been brutally attacked in the Cracker episode ‘Men Should Weep’, by the filthy likes of Jimmy Beck, played by Lorcan Crannitch. Fitz hypnotises her and she is able to remember that he was wearing a distinct aftershave, and it’s this that catches the errant cop. I’ve read that he’s 5ft10, but he’s not much taller than Ricky Tomlinson, who was about 5ft8.5/9 some thirty years ago.

I could tell that Geraldine was fairly tall when she hugged a girl who had to reenact her nightmare. The other girl seemed around 5ft3.

I think she’s closer to 5’8. Just a hair below Adrian Rawlings (James Potter). They were both significantly bigger than Harry in the last movie.

Cracker episode 'To Say I Love You'.

The northern Police colleagues have just discovered that Giggsy, a member of their Police branch, has been horrifically murdered. Panhaligan is being questioned about the officer's personal life, and is becoming seriously ratty and defensive.

She divulges that Giggs has a wife called Emma and that they have three children. Then the questioning becomes more intrusive, and Ricky Tomlinson as good as asks whether Giggs was prone to straying. There's no denying that he was. Tomlinson shows her a packet of three condoms, found in the late officer's wallet. Jane Panhaligan retorts: "So?" 🤨

This is followed by, "Is that what they used?" referring to the type of contraception Giggs used with Emma during their 15-year marriage.

Jane snaps, "NOT THE SAME PACKET!"

One thing you can't deny in this cop drama by Jimmy McGovern is that it never stays mirth-free for long! 😆

I still find it quite hard to take in that Geraldine is 5ft6; some slim women look taller, but Ms Somerville doesn't stand a chance when you compare her to the rest of the cast. She's the only female officer to boot....

I'm afraid I persist in thinking that she seems around 5ft4-4.5. She's statistically above average with her 5ft6 but looks petite.

I've just spotted Geraldine in an episode of 'Poirot', so it's reminded me 🛎️ to put on an episode of 'Cracker', which has been waiting patiently beside me for a few days.

Next to Robbie Coltrane, Geraldine always looks tiny, so I can understand that she is often taken for considerably shorter to viewers of Jimmy McGovern's award-winning crime drama. It's for that very reason that I've misjudged her height on numerous occasions.

I'll go for her rightful 5ft6 for the lovely, elegant, auburn-haired actress.

I have just found written evidence that Geraldine is 5ft4.5. There were also two cases of her being 5ft6 and Celebheights say she is 5ft6 as well, so what more can I say?

I will have to go with 5ft6. Let's face it, next to 6ft1 Robbie Coltrane in 'Cracker', that height (5ft6) isn't going to look very tall at all, hence I did half believe the 5ft4.5!
