The difference in platform height is indeed minimal, but from the looks of it Tylers' seem to be a miniscule bit taller. Though with that in mind, Tyler is easily 2 inches taller, 2.5 is also definitely possible. So, like others (including myself) have said - Paltrow is more likely 5'7" to 5'8" max. Same with guys like Josh Brolin. He is a questionable 5'10" yet his father James Brolin was close to 6'4" in his prime. He had a short mother I'd guess. Strange thing though Hulk Hogan was 6'6" in his prime, Linda Hogan is 5'8". You would expect their son to be blinkin massive and at least 6'4" yet I doubt Nick Hogan is even 6 foot! 5'7" is still short for a guy!! Height is partly genetic. Sure average height parents can produce tall children but I would guess that a 5'1" mum and a 5'4" dad wouldn't produce a 6'4" son or a 6' for that matter. Neither of Paltrow's parents were particularly tall, tall yes but not especially like say Uma Thurman's parents who were 6'4" and 5'11". I would wage that a 6'4" dad and 5'11" mother in turn would not produce a 5ft 1 or 5 ft5 son either. A family I know the mother is 5'9" and the father 5'11" and the mother's father is 6'4". Their eldest son is 6'6" at least, the middle son is 6'4" and the youngest son is the run who is little taller than his mother 5'9"-5'10". Now 5'92-5'10" is average height but what I'm saying it is not that likely his parents would have produced a 5'4" son and vice versa. If parents are aroujnd average height or one parent a little above averge then sure there is a good possibility that the offspring will be on the taller side atrributing to good nutrition etc but taller parents that are 6'1" and 5'7" are unlikely to produce a short girl or even an average height one for that matter. Ocasionally there is variation if one parent is taller and the other is short often they are average but not if both parents are particularly tall. Look at Jason Connery. As I said, Ellen is a great person to gauge all others since many have appeared on her show and can be seen on YouTube. I know this has nothing to do with Pitt, but it's a good reference tool.
Here's a picture of Reese with Christina Ricci (Ricci is listed as 5'0.25" on this site, so let's jus say 5' - I really have to laugh at all these quarter inch three-quarter in here and there and many are arguing she may only be 4'11"). If that is the case, Reese only looks about 1" taller than Ricci, which would make Reese potentially 5'-5'1". Plus the 3" heels she's wearing below with Ellen, would make her about 5'3-4" at the most, Ellen is about an inch taller than Reese in that video which would make Ellen about 5'4-5". Even if you claim that Reese has 4" height advantage or Ellen is 2" taller than Reese, Ellen still can't be more than 5'5", 5'6" in her sneakers. This is too tall for Ellen flat.

XYZ - Yes I would agree with a 5'7" flat. Actors/actresses are generally not tall-tall, peoples. They really aren't. You get the odd one like Uma Thurman and Tim Robbins, etc, but they really are not the model height you all think they are.
Doug - you are assuming that Clooney is 5'9.5"!!! ;) To be honest, I think he's about 5'8-9" or at the most he and Pitt are the same height at 5'9" (Pitt only appears taller because of his lifts and posture). Remember, the best way to gauge Ellen's height is not by those actors whose height is still debatable, but by actors like Reese Witherspoon, who is not really debated and most agree she's about 5'2". Check Ellen's height next to her with heels. That's a safer bet. I really don't think Gwyneth is taller than 5'7". I'll admit though that Gwyneth does appear to be a taller woman. 5'7" is still tall you know (for a woman).

Good find!! I always took for granted she was 5'9" because, well shes always looked at leats that, kind alike Jodie Kidd. I can see just about see 5'8" but 5'7" really would be quite something!! That would make her about 5'7" flat from those pics. Difficult to tell a lot of things sometimes just don't work out. Sometimes 5'8-5'9" guys like Stallone can look only about 3 inches shorter than 6'4" guys!! then he will be owned by guys who are barely 5'11'!! Less the 3" in heel height, makes her anywhere between 5'6.5-7". Even if you allow an inch for Joaquin's shoes, that still only makes her 5'7.5-8". They all notoriously wear fairly big shoes (3-4") and they are all around 5'2"-4", making them maximum 5'5-7", Valentino, I doubt very much is taller than 5'7". If Paltrow is only taller than Valentino by approximately her shoe height, take away the shoes, and she's about the same height. I think 5'7" for Paltrow. Again, the ubiquitous extra 2".

Well put it this way. Her father was 6 ft 1. Her mother is 5 ft 7. I think it is fairly safe to say she is certainly not below this and has the genetics to be tall. Madonna wears the biggest heels in the business folks, 5-6 inches as she has one of the biggest height complexes for women. I am not sure that is Jack Black with Gwyneth, but it appears to be. If it is (and obviously if it's not this argument goes straight out the window) but if it is, how is it that Gwyneth, at 5'9" and wearing about 3" heels (in other words 6'), is the same height or about an inch at most taller than Jack (who is 5'6", 5'7" in sneakers? I believe 5'5" and 5'6" in sneakers, but nonetheless!) HOW CAN THAT BE? Is it possible that Paltrow is actually 5'5-6"? Also, even if that isn't Jack Black, you have to remember that a 5'9" woman wearing 3" heels (3" actual height advantage heels) would be 6'! She's definitely atleast 5'9". In her recent movie Ironman, she wears heels most of the time but her scenes with Robert Downey are all close-ups. In the last scene of the movie, 5'8" Downey even looks 3 inches taller than Paltrow. He must have stood on a stool then.
In her pics with Pitt, she always appears 2.5-2 inches shorter than Pitt when she's in flats(or normal 0.75-1 inch shoes).

I have read just about all the comments. Alot of debate about her height. But, it seems to me that sometimes things look exactly like what they are. In laymens terms; the woman looks VERY tall, she says she is 5"9 I am sure she is. Have you seen her leggs-there endless. The thing is, I am 5'8" and I met Paltrow. She was not over 5'8", for sure. Someone 5'8" would not wear the 4" heels that she wears and still be shorter than anna malova. And I that picture with Sen Dog is not good for analyzing things because you don't know her shoes, or anyone's posture...She isn't over 5'8" though. |
