American actor best known for roles in movies such as Shallow Hal, School of Rock, Tropic Thunder and Be Kind Rewind. In Total Film (2010) he commented on his stature, saying "I think I'm about 5ft 6.5 in but I will often round up to the 5ft 7", although in The St Louis Post Dispatch (14/12/05) he joked "I'm 5-7, 5-7 1/2 after doing my yoga." In his early career he once had himself listed as 5-5 on his resume.

Jack’s height, or lack thereof, has never, ever stood in his way of getting the plum parts. It is for that reason that I imagined he was nearer average than he actually is.
Granted, I haven’t seen many of his films but I know what he’s starred in.

Stiller and he are so close to the same height, I bet the likes of Robert Downey Jr love to stand next to them. Ben looks a little more height conscious than Jack I think and can seem to edge him but I don’t think there’s much difference at all.

I'd say he's 5'5, and if he is then there's NO WAY Kyle Gass is the 5'9" he states. They're both roughly the same height, Gass about an inch taller, which is very short anyway. I'd be surprised if either gets anywhere near 5'8.

I took my dad for a physical checkup recently and the doctor ask him, "You're about what? 5-7?"
My dad is at least two inches shorter than I am, and I'm 5-6...so if Jack Black thinks he's 5-7, most likely he's more like 5-4.

There is a video of lack, Stiller and Downey jr dancing to Gladys Knight or something on youtube, they are perfectly lined up, side by side in identical costumes.......Black only looks bout an inch to two inches shorter than Downey Jr who is listed and recognised as about 5'8". Also Ben stiller is bout and inch shorter than Downey jr and is usually refered to as about 5'6.5 - 5' 7" , ill need to check his listing here but Black isnt even near an inch shorter than Siller !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Later, they show him in costume and he looks easily 2 inches taller than Jackson. I suspect that Jackson is barefoot while shooting (common habit of his) and Black in shoes, but now Im suspecting some pretty big shoes. I think Jack is probably more like 5'5."

Jon Stewart has said he was 5'6 on his old MTV show, there is a clip on youtube you can watch, and now that Stewart is on a successful show he has grown an inch to 5'7. Actually wouldn't surprise me if he was a little shorter than 5'5 since I think he was wearing fairly thicksoled boots. No way shorter than 5'4 probably 5'4.5".

Editor Rob don't be too concerned ;-) 1 inch is 2.54cm and the 0.04 makes a difference...2.54 * 60 = 152.4, 6 * 2.54 = 15.24, hence 167.64, and the site rounds to the closest cm mark, hence 168.

I met Jack Black a awhile ago outside of a club. I am slightly over 6'(186cm to be exact) so it was hard to tell but I'll say 5'6". Perhaps closer to 5'5" (167cm) but no taller. He was a real cool guy. VERY friendly. More so than most strangers.

I was reading about actors being billed shorter than they really are and i thought i'd pop along to Jack Black's site to see what he was put at. Sure enough 5'6". In Orange County in the scene with Ben Stiller as a fireman when he calls over the radio describing Jack Black he describes him as 5'5" tall. Is it a case of being billed shorter than he really is? Maybe. He looks short that's for sure.

No way...it's well known that Jack Black is only 5'4", if that. He's easily adding 2 inches to his height.
