I would put May at 5’11.5”, it seems a fair listing. May used to strike me as 5’10” range, but that was when I thought Clarkson was 6’2-6’3” range. Clarkson was at least 6’4” at peak and was around 5 inches taller than May.

@theL4st I’ve seen that cook off with Ramsay and May and I think Ramsay is genuinely shorter than he seems, his footwear is always really advantageous on TV compared to others, so looks deceptively taller

Honestly i think he is closer to 6ft a figure like 182.5 is not unreasonable, he does not look too short close to Jeremy Clarckson who has alway looked 192- 195 range.
Maybe 5ft11 and a change 5ft11 3/4 IMO.

I think he is 181.6cm when he is hunched over, as you can see he doesn’t have a very good posture.. however if he stands tall I reckon he will be close or even 6’0 182.8-183

@Rob He can't be that tall, look at him next to James Corden. He looks below 180cm, more like 178cm.
They look almost the same height. Granted, Corden has slightly thicker footwear, but that doesn't seem to be enough to make him 178-179cm tall from his 173.4 from your listing.

Do think he is slightly less than 6ft. On top gear he always wore formal shoes /boots with a good heel say 1.25 -1.5 inches. His hair does add a bit too. Good listing.

I always thought he was a strong six footer, maybe 184 cm. Next to Clarkson who was 6'5" peak he never looked short. There didn't appear to be 5" between them, if there was surely May would have looked small.

Editor Rob by late 40's I'm not sure if he'd have lost half inch, but a small fraction maybe. I'm not sure he was a big six footer though.

A friend of mine met James May in London a few years ago and commented he was surprisingly tall - same size as he was (my mate's a solid 6' 2"). Looks like May normally wears smart shoes/boots with heels, mind, whereas my mate would have been wearing trainers

Don't think he's 6ft though. He can look just 5'11 at times next to Hammond, granted with poor posture, so 5'11.5 is quite possible.
