Janet Ellis Height
Janet Ellis's height is 5 ft 3 in (160 cm)

English TV Presenter. In NOTW magazine it mentioned "The former Blue Peter presenter weighs 9st 7lb, is 5ft 3in and wears a size 12". I didn't think she had much more footwear this day (pic by daniella at London Film Con 2009) than us, maybe a fraction.

5ft 8-8.25 Rob, 5ft 8.25 Jenny and Janet

Bouncer--
Germany, huh? Thats pretty cool. I'd like to visit there one day. Anyhow, getting back to the question at hand, yes, women are that short here, and they are getting shorter. I don't know why, maybe its because we get our periods at like, 9, here. But Janet Ellis is average or above average here, she's only an inch shorter than I am.

Janet was always 5ft 2 in her Blue Peter biogs. I remember reading an interview with her daughter Sophie and she said she got her height off her dad as her mother was just 5ft 2.

Finally, this 5 foot 3 tall woman in the picture definitely looks under average woman height - and that didn't surprise me at all.

s.m., i live in south Germany.
Average adult height here is from 5'5 to 5'7 for women and from 5'10 to 6'0 for men.
Men BELOW 5'9 and women BELOW 5'4 are defenitely considered as being under average height here.
I also heard in the Netherlands or Sweden the average height is even higher.
5'9 is even in Germany not that short for a man, but it's hard for me to believe that in a rich and well feed country like America the average height for a woman should be 5'3 or even 5'2 (!!)

5'9" sounds correct for men. My brother is this tall, and seems to be about average for a man. I actually live in central New York.

When my doctor measured me, I was shocked that I was only 5'4", since this is the claimed "average". I'm used to being noticibly taller than most women, (and I usually don't wear heels). So, I asked another doctor to measure me and he got the same thing.

Where do you live, just out of curiosity?
I hear people are taller in Europe.

I would put the average no taller than 5'2".

Excuse me, where do you live? In Japan?
Tell me one thing: If 5'2 is average for women, then what is average for men whereever you live?
s.m. says on 18/Sep/09
5'5"-5'6" average for a female.....um, no.
I am 5'4", taller than about 75% of grown women by what I have been seeing. I would put the average no taller than 5'2". So that 5'3" "midget" is actually on the taller side. Is she living in Sweden, maybe?

No, Bouncer, 5'4" is the average. In fact, I heard the U.S. average for a woman nowadays is 5'3"

Well, surely not in Germany.
I never would mock or disrespect people because of their height but i definitely consider 5'3 for a grown woman as short. Not very short, but still short.
5'3 female American is average?? For example, as good as all 5'3 american actresses commented their height as short (for example Brittany Murphy in her own words: "I'm anything but tall.")
It's said by medicals that the average height difference between males and females is statistically +/- 4 inches (10 centimeters) so that would mean if the average american woman is 5'3 the average american man statistically must be about 5'7 (!)
In Asia or third world countries, for example, i can believe that (and even way below that mark) but in America?

No, Bouncer, 5'4" is the average. In fact, I heard the U.S. average for a woman nowadays is 5'3", so I don't know why school kids would mocking a 5'3" girl.
Anyway, I think this might seriously be the first short female celebrity Rob has taken a picture with who didn't have a noticeable footwear advantage.

I know 5'3" really isn't that short for a woman. 5'4" is average

Really?? I thought 5'5 - 5'6 is average for women.
I know a 5'3 tall girl that get mocked in school by other girls. They considered her being a midget.
I know that's very mean and personally, i hate people who pick on other people because of their height but i just brought this example to show the major height opinion for that at the place where i live (south Germany).
I never considered 5'4 as average for (most) caucasian women.
And i agree: The 5'3 woman in the picture looks pretty short too.
Harry says on 30/Aug/09
i thought she was taller but the pics prove she is shortish? her daughter is quite tall i think. she must be around 5'8-5/10.

I know 5'3" really isn't that short for a woman. 5'4" is average, but in these pictures she looks very short. Both Jenny and Rob tower over her. I would buy 5'2" or 5'3", but couldn't be more then 5'3".
