Oddly enough, I've always been very confident about [my height] as an actor. I didn't used to be as a girl. When I was young, I was very short and then I suddenly grew seven inches in a year when I was 13. I remember one morning practising on my piano and crying because I was half an inch taller than the boy I fancied.
I've been tall all my life! But I think it probably helps from the perspective of the writers, because if you're tall and you have a voice like an old transvestite then you automatically have presence.

There is a scene with her probably early in her career in the 80s where she appears on an even keel with some of the actors or they may have put her in flats and given everybody else lifts. A common practice then and now.

In make up at the Jessica Jones premiere photos McTeer looks really good for age, I thought she was a few years younger. The max I'd see Ritter at is 5'9.25", I think Krysten looks nearly 4 inches shorter than David Tennant on the show.

Hmm, she doesn't look this tall with 5'9" Krysten Ritter in Jessica Jones, in which they look maybe an inch and a half apart not a big 3.5 inches, or in premiere photos. I don't see Janet as having any perceptible height loss so far but maybe Krysten's sporting some bigger heeled shoes that might account for them looking closer. Of course, camera trickery once made Ritter to look the same height as the shorter Aaron Paul on Breaking Bad.

Editor RobI'd say it is likely she lost some height by 55, but I'd have guessed she was still near 6ft on that series, sometimes Ritter could look over 5ft 9...but then she did claim 5ft 9 and 10 once!
