I believe johno is correct, Travolta is clearly shorter than Uma Thurman barefoot. In addition he looks around the same height as Tim Allen in Mike's picture. Let's be realistic, he can't be more than 178cm. In fact I would not exclude the possibility of 176cm barefoot for Travolta. 6 foot claims for him are ridiculous, 177cm would be a fair listing. In alot of pictures, both parties wear shoes, so you cannot decide how much footwear advantage respective parties are gaining. You can get a better understanding of the maximum error on how much height one party has over another if at least one party is barefoot.
Clearly here, uma thurman is barefoot and travolta is not. Uma thurman is under 6'0. Anywhere between 5'11 - 5'11.5. Both parties are losing a slight amount of height in the above picture. Now tell me, how can travolta be anywhere near 6'0 or above? He has hardly any height on thurman when she is barefooted !!!

Gus, the precision of your late 70s to current height on Travolta tallies with my own estimates. He has definitely lost some height - I rememder being very surprised that he wasn't really much shorter than Muuhammad Ali at Ali's last fight (with Trevor Berbick - a dismal affair). He's still a strong six feet - the photo just below with James Cameron shows exactly two inches' difference,
and Travolta is slouching slightly.
Also, he has put on a lot of weight, which dramatically shortens a person in terms of a quick visual impression. I've read the opposite in the comments, but that is simply wrong - thinness conveys height, bulkiness does not. If you want to look taller without altering your heel height, drop a few pounds. I dont get why most sites,claim Travolta is 6'2,Ive seen a good few of his films,and its almost obvious that hes not 6'2. I saw him with the cast of Kotter the other day,and if I didnt know them,or who he was Id say he was 5'10 tops,because he was being towered by the black fella,and was only 2 inches taller than all three of the women,and to be honest I have never seen any evidance to warrant him being 6'2,its crazy some of the same sites say Clint Eastwood was 6'2-which is laughable to think that John and Clint would be the same height. When you watch Staying alive,when hes alone with the women in it,I can understand people thinking he was 6'2,but then you see him in the street full of people and hes a distinctly average height.
