While I agree that height isn't always a huge determinant for chicks/success it definitely always helps. If he was 5'6" or below it would have been harder for him to have the same kind of success simply because unfair or not he would've had a harder time being taken seriously. 5'9" is average height, not tall but not particularly short either. The majority of women are under 5'9" and a small bump up from footwear puts you near 6'. When a man is talented, good-looking, confident and successful women are usually just looking to see that he's not TOO short in their mind and 5'9" clears that hurdle. Brad says on 27/Oct/11

I'm 5ft8ish(172cm) and I've started wearing dress boots at work and while going out instead of wearing sneakers all the time. My gf asked me one day that have I grown? I think this is also the case with Bon Jovi. He doesn't wear outrageous Stallone boots so people don't pay that much attention to his shoes while estimating his height. He can pass for 5ft10 in boots, but I think his barefoot height can be anything from weak 5ft8 to strong 5ft9. Shaun says on 25/Oct/11

LOL he's sold 130 million records. Underrated you say? He's not as talented as Richie though who I think is actually wasted in Bon Jovi recording the generic songs the produce on each album which all sound similar in the same key! Jon passed me in the street in London outside the BBC in Nov. 2009 and I thought he looked short HOWEVER I got the chance to chat to Jon at an aftershow party in London on Saturday 25th June 2011. I have met Jon and the band and they were all sweet and friendly. They were happy to pose for photos and share a glass of wine. All the guys were genuinely interested in who we were as people and took the time to get to know us a little. My only regret is that it was such a short visit. Granted he comes across as very self-centred and egotistical in interviews but I would be too if I had his level of fame and regard amongst women. He does pull off looking a legit 5'10" actually at times in his usual clumpy shoes so 5'9" barefoot is reasonable. For those who think he is 5'7". You're really awful at judging height.
