It's almost right (even though a true Laker should NEVER be associated with the Celtics at anytime, except for all-star games and National teams like the Olympics & FIBA) that Shaq & KG are both on the same team now. We can basically all agree that Shaq is a pretty legit 7'1" maybe slightly taller. Heck if you saw Shaq Vs. he always wore these gigantic Bruce Lee/slipper type of footwear (basically barefoot) and he still looked like a legit 7 feet barefoot. I've been a KG fan for the longest & yes it's always been true that he's down played his height but I think he's close if not 6'11 legitimately barefoot, making him 7 feet with shoes, not taller though. You all will see that KG is not taller or as tall as Shaq but about an inch to an inch and a half shorter. KG has a small head also compared to Shaq and that will be a clear fact also, just wait for this upcoming NBA season and you all will see. So that being said, I'll restate again that I believe KG is like 7'0" with shoes on, but not 7'1" like others have said.

KG was taller than Bill Walton when they were doing a low post demo. Bill is a legit 6'11 these days with a 7' plus peak height so that would make KG exactly 7'.

Yeah, Rob, what's funny about some basketball players around the 7 ft mark is they have the opposite problem of many actors....they don't like to admit their height....but because they're embarrassed about how tall they are! Not how short they are.

Bill Walton was a guy who always got listed at 6'11" because he thought 7 ft was a freakish height, and when confronted about being taller than several 7'0" basketball players in the '86 finals, he claimed that the floor was warped!

Rob, here's a good quote about Garnett. It explains where the measured 7'1" by his team comes from. 6'11.75" barefoot and 7'1" in shoes.

Garnett grew slightly from 6-11 to ``6-11 and three-quarters,'' as Garnett puts it. The second-year star does not want to be listed at 7 feet, although he might already be there. ``Kevin thinks if he's a 7-footer, we're going to put him at center,'' Saunders said. ``I told him he doesn't have to worry about that.''- October 7th, 1996 St Paul Pioneer Press.

His pre-draft measurement was 6'11" barefoot so the article seems legit when it says that he grew slightly to 6'11.75" and the same newspaper said he measured 7'1"(probably in sneakers) a year later. He was barely 19 when he was drafted, so growing slightly is not hard to believe.

Most NBA players get listed by their shoe heights rounded up to the nearest inch. But I heard that Kevin Garnett is 6'11" barefoot and refuses to get listed by his shoe height which would bring him somewhere near 7'1".

From an October 3rd, 1997 article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

A Wolves source said Garnett's height was measured at 7 feet, 1 inch, an indication that he's still growing.

Since coming to the Wolves in 1995, Garnett has resisted being officially listed at 7 feet out of fear the coaching staff will move him to center.

Adds up perfectly, that 7'1" measurement was probably in shoes meaning Garnett is the 6'11 3/4" that he claims barefoot.

he appears as tall or taller than Shaq who measured at 7'1" combine respectively KG came in at 6'11". He always had this obsession with not being listed at 7'0" ft..don't really understand it but to each his own

He is 6-11 1/2 but barefeet so he is around 7-1 maybe a bit shorter in shoes. What I am interested in is what is his wingspan. He is lanky and looks to have long arms but I saw a pic somewhere of him giving high 5 to Sam Perkins and Perkin's arms seemed to be longer. Perkins has a 7-4 wingspan.

swimmers have broader shoulders than anyone...know of a guy who is barely six feet and has a longer wingspan because of his shoulders than a guy who is 6'4". ive also noticed that kevin garnetts arms are very very long. he is very lanky where as some of the shorter guys in the nba (and myself--not in the nba of course) have longer torsos and arms but fairly short legs ehich make them seem even shorter.

I think Garnett is 7'0" even barefoot. He's Kate Moss skinny and sometimes has good posture which makes him look 7'2" and often looks 7'3-7'4" in thick shoes.

I see 7 feet tall if not more. He is a good 2 inches taller than Bill Russell who is a legit 6'10". He is considerably tall than every other 6'11" player out there and is right inline if not taller than 7'0" listed players. If he wants to be listed in the NBA at 6'11" then thats cool. But if so, then other players need to be downgraded.

This guy is one big baller... Watching him at the season opener game for Boston against the cavs earlier this year, he has got to be a legit 7ft0 - 7ft0.5. We all know he downplays his height to 6ft11 but he was nearly equal in height to shaq who is a solid 7ft1.

Bosh does have a small head, but so does Howard. I've seen the pic of Bosh and Howard standing side to side, 2K. Even though Bosh was about 1-1.25in taller than Howard, their shoulder level was identical.

When it comes to people the same height as KG, Robert Parish and Greg Oden come to mind. With regard to Shaq's height, Ostertag, Artis Gilmore, James Donaldson and Mutombo come to mind. Wilt was about 1/3" shorter than them, but an inch taller than Garnett and Parish.

Bosh has what I call weak height. He has a long neck. So it does not matter, if Howard is "only" 6'9.5 - 6'10 barefoot, cause he has a reach like a 7 footer, and a 39.5 inch vertical. Thats insane, and in the summer, he has bulked up to a massive 275 pounds of monster.

KG is a solid 7-footer. However, he's more of a perimeter-oriented big man and he never wanted people to think he was a center so he always claimed to be 6'11".

On gettyimages there are a few clear pictures showing Duncan next to Russell.
I think the two of them are close in height, the difference being no more than 1 inch.
How Tim Duncan could get listed at 7' for many years remains a mistery.
Kevin Garnett is certainly taller than Duncan.

If you compare the Yao/Mutumboaand Yao/Garnett photos in the links below, KG stacks up pretty well against the 7'1" (measured barefoot) Mutumbo. I wouldn't put him at anything below 7' based on those.
