It's funny watching him in Nightmare on Elm Street 3, because aside from 5'8 and a half Jennifer Rubin, everyone else in that movie is so much shorter than him: you got 5'3 and a half Heather Langenkamp, 5'1 and a half Patricia Arquette, and Craig Wasson, whom is not listed here, but I would guess is in the 5'6 to 5'7 range. So even though Laurence Fishburne is slouching through that whole movie, he still looks like a giant!
Looking at his other movies, he's got a good two inches on Cuba Gooding, Jr. in Boyz N the Hood, closer to three on Kenneth Branagh in Othello, and is no more than an inch shorter than Keanu Reeves in The Matrix, so I'm comfortable calling him a strong 6'.

Rob, possible that he has lost a little height? I think one could see him with maybe 0.5 inches less for him as he approaches 60. It's actually shocking how young he is, he has seemed like an older authority figure since way back in Boyz in da Hood and certainly so in The Matrix.

One Christmas, I chased all over the place to find my boyfriend a copy of 'Event Horizon'. I was so impressed that I bought a copy for myself. I enjoyed his part in 'Hannibal', and remember the violent fight he had with Mads Mikkelsen. Both are powerfully- built men, and the sound effects on my boyfriend's big TV shook the whole living room! It's that fight which showed that Larry is a tiddly bit taller than Mads.

I met him and was around him for quite a while when he was in town around 2005ish. He bought some stuff from my friends store. I was actually shocked how short he is as he is always shot in films looking taller. I am 5'11' he was no taller than 5' 10" my friends all had a conversation about it at the time. Really nice guy at first impression. But if I made a guess i would say 5'9" according to memory.

I was actually shocked how short he is as he is always shot in films looking taller. I am 5'11' he was no taller than 5' 10" my friends all had a conversation about it at the time. Really nice guy at first impression. But if I made a guess i would say 5'9" according to memory.

Editor Rob not sure how tall Laurence was in the film, been a long while since I watched it or can even remember if you could compare height in it. But a lot of guys in 17-18 range can still grow a bit...it is no surprise actors in that range grow...

I was just one of dozens of people that he saw that night and he didn't know me at all. He was still a gentleman. I've met plenty of actors, stars included, that might smile, shake your hand, pose for a picture, but still make you feel like they'd rather be anywhere else. Maybe that's your experience with Mr. Fishburne, when you're trying to pose for a picture with him on the street, but it wasn't my experience nor was it any of the people I was with. Besides, how could you possibly know how the man acts "most of the time"? Do you stalk him constantly?

Just met Laurence tonight after his Broadway show Thurgood (he was excellent). In fact, met him in his dressing room backstage. I chatted with him close up and shook his hand. He was wearing flat slippers, no boots, lifts, etc. and was at least 5'11", if not 6 ft. And also a true gentleman, very gracious.

I saw Lawrence walk by on the street years ago on the upper west side of Manhattan. He was walking slowly with a beer in a paper bag. He was wearing a kind of lavender-colored leather suit and checking out a pretty girl who walked by him. he really looked like he was about 6' or thereabouts. I'm just under 6' so I was trying to gauge his height and I respected that he was truly tall not a fraud actor.

I agree with Taylor. I was SHOCKED at how "un"-tall Fishburne is in person. I am 6'1.5" and he was definitely shorter than me. I don't know if he is as short as 5"8", but he is definitely not a "tall" person.
