I saw a documentary on him a couple of yeas ago, he is definitely very tall and a British doctor who examined him didn't seem to question his height, nor did anyone who was involved with the documentary. I think Mr Stadnyk may be close to the speculated height, however, he came across as very modest and uncomfortable with the attention he was getting from just the film crew. There is a possibility that he has refused to be measured because he is simply not interested in being the world's tallest man and all the attention that he would get from it. detective says on 10/Jan/10

Stadnik should get measured like the previous fraudulent giant Alam Channa who listed himself at 8-3 but was in reality 'only' 7-8. That will forever close the books on Stadnik's height 'debate'. I've doubted the 8'+ claims since I first saw him 3 years ago. In the beginning I thought he looked around 7'7"-7'8". After GWR dropped him from their book, I knew his height was bogus. No he isn't at least 7,7". He's more like 7,7" max barefoot. He probably hovers around the 7,9" mark (if he's 7,7" barefoot) in his chunky over-sized, size 20-something Herman Munster boots (like Kenny George). To be honest, he literally looks like the closest thing in real life to Herman Munster because of his huge, statue-like height coupled with his broad, high shoulders and long narrow, languid face.
IMO, it's likely Stadynk has largest hands on Earth, though. He's obviously not the tallest living man, but his hands disproportionately large. They look nearly a foot long each!

Ok, this Stadnik debate is starting to get old. It's pretty obvious this guy isn't 8,5". The only times he looks that tall is when he's around very short people (like his 5" mom). btw, Stadnik looks taller than he actually is because of having high, square shoulders. His shoulder height (roughly 6,5") is nearly the same as an average door away from a few vids I've seen of him, but the distance between the top of his head is only around 13" making him only 7,7". I'm not disputing that Stadnyk isn't 8'5" but to be fair Wadlow was very much in the upper regions of 8'. 8'11" when he died. To scale it down to lamens terms a 6' person is going to look very different from a 6'11" person. A 6' person is fairly tall (assuming you consider 5'7"-5'8" the average, which I would say is correct), whereas a 6'11" person is a giant, near a 7 footer. A big difference, 11 inches is! Measuring and scaling pics to find somebody's height obviously isn't 100% accurate, but from a well-angled pic you can pretty accurately tall somebody's height. Yes, even as long as 7,4" is possible for him, but I generously think he could be 7,7" or even 7,8" (max). Mark says on 16/May/09

I did a ratio comparison using a photo of him and his mother standing next to each other and a ruler that measures in centimeters and found that if Leonid's mother is five feet then he is only seven foot four inches. Zhao Liang may actually be taller than Zhang, but I haven't seen definite proof of this. He should also get measured on that Japanese game show along side with Bao Xishun or Zhang to prove his point! No, Clay Stadnik isn't as tall as Zhang period. I use to believe he was close to 8 feet or at least 7,9", but after seeing enough of this guy I have come to the conclusion that he's likely not even 7,8" and very likely only 7,6". If you look at clip 5 of the tallest man at 8:53, it shows Leonid in the doorway with Besser nearest the camera, now if the ceiling height was only 7'11, (apparently a journalist used a laser level to check). Also, it's worth noting that Igor Ladan is rather fat unlike Stadnik which means that he's definitely heavier but probably not taller. They both seem to be the same height. Vovkovinskiy, I believe, has just as much claim to fame as tallest man of Ukrainian nationality as Stadnyk does--though I think Stadnyk may be an inch or so taller. Actually Neil Manute Bol (who was 7,7" barefoot at his peak height) and Neil Fingleton (coincidence eh? at 7,6-ish) were just natural giants that exceeded the 7,6 " range. This really is a colossal blunder on the part of Guinness. Not only did they not properly measure the man, but the height he was listed as was not even measured by the doctor who was given credit for measuring him. Stadnyk is most likely only 7,9" at best (but he's definitely at least 7,6"). But 7,9" still makes him one of the tallest ppl in the world. What I find shocking like, many of you folks here, is that Guinness would actually officially give the tallest man honor to him without measuring him themselves! Not only that they can keep the tallest woman record held by Sandy Allen for such a long time while there was somebody out there (Yao Den Feng who's taller? That really hurts their reputation. Why isn't Zhang being recognized by Guinness as the world's tallest man?! Unless he's dead, I think he would definitely be the tallest man in the world as somebody here mentioned it has even been proven on the media in front of millions of TV screens that Zhang is taller than Bao! Zhang is 7,11-ish (or 'only' a full foot shorter than Wadlow) so I guess you could round his height up so he would be considered a broad-line 8 footer (in his shoes I guess he would have just scraped the 8 foot mark). I find it strange. So he claims to be the tallest in the world, claims to be 8'6", but when asked to get measured he says he "didn't want all the attention"? Then he goes on to tell the world that he has the largest palm size (also not verified). Doesn't seem like a good way to avoid attention.

Thing is Stadnyk is very tall to begin with is but he exaggerated his height by a huge margin to attract fame for prosperity yet he doesn't want any unnecessary attention. I think exaggerating his actual height by as much as 10 inches doesn't help because it's just plain obvious from photographic evidence that he simply isn't his alleged 8,5"! Sure Staynik may be huge but he's nowhere near his alleged 8,4" height! Compared to ppl of ordinary height he's simply not over 8 feet tall...compared to ppl of known height his real height is probably closer to 7,7-7,8" (which btw is the same as that of the current tallest NCAA player Kenny George). Stadnyk is no longer considered tallest man by Guinness. Bao Xishun has reclaimed the title. Ironically the tallest man is neither; for it is Zhang Juncai. There is irrefutable proof, as he was measured alongside Bao himself and it's obvious without the measurement he is taller. I dont really care how tall Leonid really is. He remains dirt poor, it seems, and he hasnt exploited himself. Regardless, I would be happy to buy him a pair of size 50 Nikes, if he would come to my house and change my dud light bulbs. (About 8, last count), as I am 5ft 1 inches tall, max, and cant reach, (even with the ladder),also, big bowl fixtures to take off and my hands are too stuby to get around. Its very frustrating, as Im living in partial darkness. Haha.

A few years ago they were talking about a man called Isaac Nesser who is supposed to have a muscular ( as opposed to fat ) chest measurement of 74" and biceps of 29". They claimed that he could bench press 825 pounds (about 374 kilograms ), and he claims to be the world's strongest person. However, he refuses to enter any competitions !
