good picture of hulk hogan and lou ferrigno in 2005. hogan has a solid inch on lou, maybe even an inch and a half, since lou still has hair and hogan doesn't.

richard moll is 6'9", met him. solid 6'9", if not 6'9", then at least 6'8.5". alot of tall people try to downplay their height...

lou ferrigno was playing a wrestler in that nightcourt clip, and more than likely, he has wrestling boots on, which takes an inch or more away from his height comapred to the footwear of everyone else

Huge amounts of muscle must stretch the spine out somewhat, now he's lost his size his height comes down, same with Arnie. Don't quote me, just a thought. :D

Actually his peak was 194 cm and now he's around 192 cm tall.

Ferrigno sure looked 6'4.5 physically back in the mid 70s. I cant explain why he only looks 6'3 by the Night Court episode, though. He couldnt have shrunk 1.5 inches already.

Looks a shade over 6ft2in with Rob, but he's clearly dropping an inch. He was 3in taller than Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 70's so 196cm peak is about right.

i'm a solid 6'2 and walked by lou at a festival, he was a bit taller, had a dominating appearance because of his build. He could pull of saying 6'5 because of the bulk. I'd say 6.3. Massive guy

Danimal says on 8/Jun/10
Damn, I just saw this. I know Arnold and Lou have lost height, but this shows just how much big Louie has actually lost. Louie used to be a legit 6'4.5" guy. In his late 50's, he is shorter than 6'3" Mike O'hearn (fitness model, powerlifter and former American Gladiator)... Louie isn't even 6'3" anymore. Sad but true...

I think Lou has lost 1.25in. It's possible that his peak was 0.25in under 6ft5in, so 195cm. Today he's between 6ft3in and 6ft4in. And maybe 193cm out of bed.

6' 3" I looked at the top of his head in Chuck Taylors. Had him by the three big ones, couple times actually. He's still in great shape. Hulk collapsed like Superstar Billy Graham, steroids, operations, etc.. Moll is a legit tall guy, 6 feet 8, I stood next to him at Warners and his cool black early 60's Cadillac and he owned me like Daryl Dawkins at 6' 11" did a few days ago at a Sprite Slam Dunk thing.

Red says on 2/May/10
Alex, I don´t think so, why should he lose nearly the same height as Hogan?
Lou didn´t sacrificed his body over 30 years in the ring.

He never looked like a 6´5" guy should, especially next to Richard Moll.

The most I can give him as peak is scratching the 6´4.0"mark in the morning
Alex says on 1/May/10
Lou looks 6'3 with Hogan. He was at least 6'4.5 at his peak though.

FACTS

* Dwayne Johnson was listed as standing 6'5" by the University of Miami Football team.
* Arnold Swarzenneggar was measured at 6'2" when he applied for the job on The Incredible Hulk.

Bottom Line: Hulk Hogan really was 6'7" for most of his adult life. And we know that Lou Feriggno was 6'5" when he was cast to play the part of The Incredible Hulk. These two issues are not debatable.

What´s your pseudo? Fault Master??

Here´re real facts for you:

Hogan has never seen 6´7" in his life, he was a strong 6´5"
Schwarzenegger has never seen 6´2", he was a solid 6´1"

Rock was maybe listed at 6´5", but he has never seen 6´4" without footwear
Rock is a solid 6´3" not more, not less

The only thing I agree with you is that peak Hogan was solid two inches taller than peak Ferrigno.

Hogan 6´5.5" peak
Ferrigno 6´3.5" peak

FACTS

Okay, I have done a lot of research on this subject. Here is what we know to be FACTS:

* Troy Aikman was always listed at 6'4" by the Dallas Cowboys

* Hulk Hogan was listed as 6'7" for most of his adult life

* Hulk Hogan specifically told Larry King that he currently stands 6'4"

* Hulk Hogan specifically told Larry King that he stood 6'7" until he had several surgeries on his back where several discs in his spine were removed.

* A cartilage disc in the human spine of an adult male is approximately one inch thick. Each time a disc is removed, it is replaced with a sheet of metal that is as thin as a piece of paper. In other words, each disc you lose costs you one inch of height. I know this is true from personal experience because my cousin was in a motorcycle accident where he needed two discs replaced, which caused him to lose two inches of height. My cousin ended up 6'2" even though he previously stood 6'4". A similar situation happened when a friend of mine was in an auto accident; he also lost two inches of height because two discs were removed.

* Lou Ferrigno was listed as 6'5" when he was cast as an actor on The Incredible Hulk

* Lou Ferrigno currently stands 6'3.5" tall

* When Hulk Hogan and Lou Ferrigno stood next to each other when both were in their prime, Hulk Hogan was noticably taller

* Arnold Swarzenneggar was measured at 6'2" when he applied for the job on The Incredible Hulk. It was specifically stated that the reason why Arnold was not selected was because of his height.

* Dwayne Johnson was listed as standing 6'5" by the University of Miami Football team.

* When Hulk Hogan wrestled The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) it was obvious that Hogan was taller

* There are times in the Rent-a-Center commercial when Hogan stands equally tall next to Troy Aikman, and others when Hogan appears to be slightly shorter.

* Hulk Hogan currently has severe back pain as a result of multiple back surgeries. This causes Hulk Hogan to occasionally lean forward, which costs him up to one inch at times.

Bottom Line: Hulk Hogan really was 6'7" for most of his adult life. And we know that Lou Feriggno was 6'5" when he was cast to play the part of The Incredible Hulk. These two issues are not debatable.

Wrong on mostly all your OPINIONS. NONE of this is fact, but I'm not wasting my time on this. Just a tad bit of information for you. When people SAY THINGS, it doesn't always mean it's TRUE.

speaking of lou and hogan, here is a full length photo of the two from a few years ago Click Here
Aaron says on 15/Apr/10
Are you guys looking at the same pictures I'm seeing?

Lou isn't just leaning, he's jutting his head forward. If you don't think that changes height, go ahead and try it: jut your head forward and touch your nose to a wall, mark where it touches and then stand up straight.

Now both Rob and Mamun come up to the bridge of Lou's nose. I've got six inches from the bridge of my nose to the top of my head and I'm not a big guy. Lou has a big head, even compared to his body. If he's still capable of standing up straight he has at least seven inches on these guys.

From what I've read, years ago Hulk Hogan was on a talk show with Lou and he towered over him. So, they began "billing" Hogan as 6'7". But Hogan is more like 6'4". In fact, he is now on a TV commercial with Troy Aikman...and Aikman appears taller than Hogan. And Aikman has always been listed as 6'4". Don't know Lou's actual height, but if Hogan did tower over him, it must have been considerably less than 6'4".

misha says on 28/Mar/10
I have to tilt toward Sandro's testimony. It is preposterous to say that there's a seven-inch difference between Rob and Lou in the above photo, or anything near ir, even with the slight lean. Leaning does not diminish a subject's height nearly as much as everyone assumes it does - it only subtracts about half an inch - if you don't believe me get a ruler, stand in front of a mirror and experiment. And please everyone look at Mamun's photo of Lou with Schwarzenegger - if Rob's recent downgrade of Arnold is on the money,
then Ferrigno could not possibly be taller than 6'1.5" - 6'2".
misha says on 28/Mar/10
I have to tilt toward Sandro's testimony. It is preposterous to say that there's a seven-inch difference between Rob and Lou in the above photo. I don't care how much he is leaning, and he's not really leaning that much, he's only about five inches taller than Rob. Before anyone fires a nasty response back at me, look at a ruler and see just how much seven inches really is (I just now did) and you will see that it is impossible that Lou is that much taller than Rob.

I have noticed as a general principle that people tend to greatly exaggerate
how much leaning diminishes a subject's height. I have done experiments with a mirror and a ruler, and leaning rarely lowers height more than half an inch.
If Ferrigno is "six-three and more" then Rob is 5'10".

Hogan hasn't seen a full 6'4" in almost a decade, let alone 6'4.5". As for Ferrigno, he was still slightly over 6'4" by at least 1994. Has lost height since mid-90's?

It's really hard to hear.. so I'm just guessing what it seems like to me. anyway.. posted this clip in the brock lesnar thread to because many use frank's height to measure lesnar. and I think lou looks a smidge taller than lesnar did against frank.. and if lou is 6'3 before bed today then I would say 6'2.5 for lesnar seems dead on for him making his 6'4 claim legit if he rounds up half an inch from his morning height.

Here's a pic of Lou Ferrigno & Adrian Paul, taken in 1994. Adrian Paul is listed at 6 feet tall and always looked this height to me. The top of Paul's head is at about Ferrigno's eyebrows, so I'd say a 4 inch difference. Ferrigno does look to have a slight footwear advantage. It's a good pic though!

As I've previously mentioned, Lou was featured in 1994 Muscle and Fitness article, when he was set to compete at the Master's Olympia and the reporter said that Lou stands at just over 6'4" these days and has trimmed down to 298 pounds from last years 325 pounds.

SO, this pic of him in 1994 was accurate. He seemed to not have lost much height by this point in his life, but he's certainly not 6'4" anymore. Seems to slightly over 6'3" nowadays.

Rugal Bernstein says on 27/Sep/09
Lou looks 6'2.5" beside Jason Segel and I think that he's that height nowadays. I watched videos when Ferrigno was younger and yes, he had exactly 3" on Arnold Schwarzenegger who was a weak 6'2" in his youth. So I also think that Lou was 6'5" in his prime even if he wasn't a strong 6'5"er. And maybe the reason why Lou appears shorter beside Rob is because he's slouching and Rob stands straight. Beside Mamun anyway, Lou looks every bit of 6'3" or 6'3.5".

He had a small role in the new Hulk movie and stills looks big but I couldn't compare his height next to 6' Edward Norton. He still looks like a bodybuilder in the movie. Anonymous, that is sad story about your experience with Lou. Maybe he doesn't know how to market himself. He should have his own gym or a line of bodybuilding products by now. He is getting old so someone should teach him how to market and capitalize on his fame.

We saw him at the Montreal Comicon this past week-end. He charged me $30 for a photo with my own camera of him with my children. What a rip-off! He was rude and told me to hurry up with the photo. My 8 yr. old daughter drew a picture of hulk for him as a gift and two seconds later, we saw him crumple it up and chuck it in the garbage. What a lack of respect for his fans!! He's obviously going to these conventions to make a lot of cash and not because he loves his fans.
Conan sidekick says on 18/Sep/09
Lou Ferrigno was 6'5" peak, not 6'4.5". My uncle (a amateur bodybuilder in the 70s) met Lou in a competition where he was a contestant, and was measured at 6'5" barefoot. He used to tell me that that Lou looked like a monster next a normal height and physical appearance guy. my uncle who is by the wayi 6' used to tell me anecdotes of how Lou really look like The Hulk.
Back then before computer graphics, it was a producer's dream to find a man with all the characteristics of the Hulk character minus the green color.
Abb: your comment on how a bodybuilder can preserve his youth better than any other sport is true. My uncle is 60 and an active bodybuilder, and he doesn't look a year older than 40.
Abb says on 13/Sep/09
I met Lou several times during the annual Olympia expo shows. The strongest, last thought was tat this guy is very big, and looks good for his age. The other body builders near his age have not weathered life nearly as well. Remember he can't hear you much if a all during these functions, and he may seem aloof but really is a nice guy if you get a minute to talk with him. Many people are trying to get his attention. And people shrink/lose height at different rates, everyone is different.

Steroids don't destroy height. There's no physical process for that to occur. It's age, high body weight, lifting heavy weights and force of gravity erode height in people like these.
Brad says on 11/Sep/09
Yeah, the camera work on Hulk made him VERY "V" shaped, he's actually taller in person than you'd expect, I always thought he'd be like 5' 11". I kinda think he's lost an inch since I first met him 10 years ago. Arnie is really losing height, Superstar Billy Graham & The Hulkster are way under their 1982 heights. Amazing how steroids & operations just destroy height.
J.J.F says on 11/Sep/09
Lol, amusing how some people still buy the Arnie 6'2" illusion.
Ferrigno looked massive in the Hulk series, camera angles did some magic for sure but he just is a big guy, his huge 'V' frame developed after years of weight-training and juicing made him look taller rather than shorter.
Brad says on 10/Sep/09
You ought to go to the Hollywood Collector's Show in Burbank Supermun & I go to. 15 years ago it was free to stand & pose with anybody and $10 was about as high as 1 got for signatures. It is a joke what Lou & everybody else charges (not that many "photo with" charge as it is B stars mostly) for photos & signatures nowadays. Keep in mind that many of these "stars" aren't exactly as "rich" as one thinks, they sorta have to. I remember Mickey Mantle charging $3 a signature in '80. you could bargain fer 2 for $5. I agreed with G: shows are horrible but you get to meet these people all at once, 72 degrees, inside. Standing outside like the G at 17 degrees for a few hours is kinda kooky unless you get big coin. Oh yeah, Lou probably was paid more to hush what he saw with MJ than his fee for stamina stage work. I hear MJ's body was not exactly clean like yours or mine of obvious marks from things. LF ain't a dummy, he's seen it in his line of work pre acting and can see through the obvious.

It is quite common for bodybuilders to loose alot of height, because some of their height is created by bodybuilding. the top bodybuilder's spinal muscles become so dense and thick that they spread the vertabra farther apart than they normally would be, which in many cases can ad some height over time, the denser and thicker the muscles around their spinal column get. A perfect example of this is 8 time olympia champion lee haney, who had to loose nearly 50 pounds before they could operate on a herniated disc, because his spine's muscles were so thick that they surrounded the affected disc, and they could not operate on him till his muscles shrank enough to make it possible.

Um, I don't think your math is accurate. I can't think of too many folks losing height by that magnitude with age.

From my own personal experience, most people I know who are in their 60s and 70s, have lost maybe an inch at most. More than that is usually the result of injuries or surgery.

Peak height 6'4.52 is about right. He was three inches taller than Arnie peak. Today he is 6'3", Arnie is 5'11.5 or 6'. No MOST men don't lose that much height by aged 57, you are forgetting Danimal that Ferrigno, Arnie and Hulk Hogan have lifted heavy weights practically every day for 35-40 years not to mention possibility of roids. This combined seriously weakens the bones.
Ali says on 13/Jul/09
You know I always knew this guy wasn't that tall. He looks 6'2-6.2'5. Peak height probably 6'3. When I was at primary school, I had a teacher and he was really tall. I asked him how tall he was and he said he was 192cm. Ferrigno is really not that tall. Peak height 190cm, nowadays 188,189cm. Great height. Tall, but not overly tall.
Danimal says on 10/Jul/09
Big King says on 10/Jul/09 TNTinCA, yes ok but a human does not lose a lot of height at the age of 57. Also in his heyday, he never looked a legit 6'5". I could buy 6'4" peak height for him but nothing more. The thing is how he towered a lot over Arnold Schwarzenegger who was a strong 6'1" in his prime. So there were about 3 inches difference between Lou and Arnold. Arnold was 6'1" and Lou 6'4". Arnold was MEASURED at 6'1.5". Lou was over 6'4". The average man loses .5" by 40 and .5" more every decade after that until 70 years of age and then can lose up to 1" more every decade after that.

Hes 6'3" in the photos with Mamun and 6'2.5" in the photo with Rob which is probably the most recent.

And I dont think he was 6'5" or 6'4.5" in his prime because its rare for someone to lose 2 or 2.5 inches.

So id say put 6'4" prime, and 6'2.5" peak.

Don't forget he was stated at 6'5" in the 1977 Strongest Man Contest where he also was just as tall as the 6'5" Brian Oldfield (who won the competition).

So yes, Ferrigno was measured at a strong 6'4.5".

I stood next to Lou on the Asbury Park, NJ, beach the day he won Teenage Mr. America. This was around 1970. He looked every bit of 6'5". I stood about two feet away, facing him, while he was being interviewed. I remember craning my neck to look up at him. I'd put my money on 6'5". Moll certainly does NOT tower over Lou. I find this site frustrating because people seem to feel more height = more strength. I would must rather prefer to fight Richard Moll than Lou in their prime despite the fact I know Moll lifted weights and was in shape.

The Rob photo: Once again. Lou is leaning toward Rob, body & head. Straighten Lou out & up, and Rob's height's even w/Lou's mouth. Without a full-body shot, it's impossible to judge foot-spacing, but in the other shot, Lou's feet are somewhat widely-spaced, as would be more likely when leaning like this. Rob's standing straight up, facing front, & doing whatever he has to do to be in the same frame with Lou, thus Rob would quite likely have his feet more closely-spaced than Lou. Keeping Lou's 'tall' head in mind, ther is no evidence here to make him anything less than his claimed 6'4.5".
mark says on 13/May/09
Lou is leaning, hunching, turning toward and standing further back than Mamun, ala whuch make him appear shorter than he actually is. Even so, the top of Lou's upper lip is even with the top of Mamun's head. If Lou 1/Closed his mouth , (thus bringing his chin up), 2/Stood equal distance from the camera and 3/ Faced the camera as square & straight as Mamun is , some part of his chin would be even with the top of Mamun's head. Add to this that Lou has a very "tall" head, and I come up with at -least- 6'4.5". (Actually, I come up iwth more, which makes me wonder if Mamun is actually less than 5'8".)
