Hugh he played an ex-con Luther on an episode entitled "Robbing The Banks". He appears a fair bit in the episode and stands near Will a few times. He clearly looks over an inch taller than Will. Throughout the episode he has timberland style work boots on while Will has Doc Martens so he maybe had 1/4" footwear advantage on Will.
There is a scene where he is face to face with James Avery for around a minute and you can see he doesn't look much shorter.

I know it's a very small pic but you can see gainey and fox look dead on in height. Maybe Gainey is 6'2 on the money then and he would be around 6'2 & 1/2 at his peak since he's around 60. Anonymous says on 20/Dec/09
As far as I'm aware both Gainey and Fox both wear sort of work-boots in Lost, so Gainey couldn't really have had a footwear advantage, and if he did it was probably just like 1/5" or something.
There does look to be 0.5 - 1 inch difference in that pic you posted Moke. Maybe Fox is really slightly under 6'2 and Gainey is 6'2.5 & he hasn't lost any height - that would explain the difference.
But maybe either the camera was giving Gainey a slight disadvantage here or giving him a slight advantage in that pic of him with Matthew Fox. Moke says on 19/Dec/09
