looked 2'' shorter than john travolta in wild hogs, maybe was lifts or not, the scene in the restaurant sets beside john travolta martin lawrence does look 2'' just shorter at the table where the talking together-4 main actors.and 2'' shorter than travolta stand close talking to him. or he wore lifts in shoes....martin looks about 5'6 to 5'8 at most.

If you compared Lawrence to Cruise, i think Lawrence would be taller. He gives the impression of being taller in most of his films whereas Cruise doesn't. he just looks his height in films.

i wore big shoes and insoles for about a year and my success with women decreased dramatically.. my posture wasn't as good, i didn't appear proportional, and i never really felt comfortable..
i agree that it's all about attitude and how you come off to others and that most women could care less.. they might say that they do, but i've dated girls 5'6 who said they'd only date 6'+ guys.. haha.. i guess it's more of a 6' level of confidence that they're after.

I know this is kinda besides the point, but I just really wanna say that I just can't understand this whole fuss about height!!! And as a woman, I most certainly cannot support the claim that tall men are preferred over short men, coz height is hardly an issue!! I'm not going to go into the whole personality/character speech coz I know nobody's tryin to hear that, so I'll stick to physical talk and my word on that is that, like in a woman, it's all about proportion. Martin Lawrence is a perfect example of great proportion. While standing at 5'6, he looks no less better than a 6 footer with good proportion. A nice face doesn't hurt him either. Kylie Minogue is a great example of a woman with short stature but great proportion...she's only 5'0, and she's one of the most desirable women on the planet! Same goes for Christina Milian (5'1), Alyssa Milano (5'1), Christina Aguilera (5'2), Jada Pinkett (5'0), Shakira (4'11)...did I make my point?
I'll conclude by mentioning that I do practice what I preach as I'm very happily married to a 5'5 man, and out of all the 5'9ers and 6'2ers I dated before him, my attraction to them didn't compare to my attraction to him.
So to all 'short' men out there (and I put the word 'short' in speech marks as the world's idea of short is really not that short...i understand 5'0 as bein short on a man, but 5'6???), don't regard your height as a curse. It's part of who you are and what makes you special!! I assure you there are plenty of women who want you it's just that it's the tall men who have the confidence to make that first move! Hence the ridiculous statistics that show that women prefer tall men. It's only coz the shorter men don't have the guts to chat up a woman thinking they're gonna be turned down. And thing is gentlemen, women are NEVER gonna make the first move. So if she likes you, you'll never know unless you take that step. Tall, short...it don't matter. A woman does not woo - she is wooed. And that's how it always will be lol.

Saw him with William Fichtner in some interchangeable Martin Lawrence vehicle (apparently What's the Worst That Could Happen?), Lawrence appeared about 6 inches shorter than Fichtner. Though slouching in this particular photo, Lawrence didn't appear much taller when more upright in the scene:

Regarding hospital reports, as a physician I can tell you that most records simply record what the patient reports as their height. Anyone that has ever been a patient in a hospital, even just the ER knows that it would be unusual for their height to actually be measured.

It is similar to one's driver's license, they simply ask what your height and weight are and it gets recorded.

[Editor Rob: that whole mention before it was edited over there, I don't think it was to do with hospital to be honest...

Speaking of hospitals, in the UK at least if you go for a surgery for instance, you might get measured...in centimetres! For the record, my hospital record has height=173cm ;-)]

TGRI, I wouldn't rely on a DVD cover to determine heights. On the Undercover Brother DVD, Denise Richards is given an extremely nice posterior, but even she admitted that the cover was digitally altered to increase her sex appeal. The Nothing To Lose cover could have been digitally altered to enhance the differences of the two characters. Wealthy, extremely tall white guy next to a poor, really short black guy. The shot looks completely exaggerated to me.

If you watch the recent movie "Rebound" he walks in the basketball lockeroom with a player who is stated as a 6 foot 2 player on the team had about 3.5 inches on martin lawrence, so 5 foot 10.5 could very well be a possiblity. Unless he wore lifts for the scenes throughout the entire movie, but I highly doubt.

TGRI, you're wrong. How did you know that Will Smith was barefoot in that scene in Bad Boys? I'm pretty sure he was still wearing his black high-top Nikes and Smith was only slightly slouching while camera mugging. Plus, in that scene where there is a close-up shot, Will Smith actually looks less than 5 inches taller than Martin. Plus, as a 5'8'' Tea Leoni walks passed them in very high heels, she still looks about the same height as Lawrence. I would say that Martin may have been wearing lifts in that scene but the lifts made him look about 5'10.5'' rather than 5'9''. Trust me, I've seen this movie enough times to notice.

I think Martin Lawrence is 5'9''. Throughout Bad Boys I, the height difference between him and the 6'2'' Will Smith was no more than 5 inches. Sometimes, it appeared less (of course, this was probably for the purpose of shooting close-ups). Tea Leoni is 5'8'' and she was only the same height as Lawrence because her boots gave her an advantage. In Bad Boys II, a 5'7'' Gabrielle Union was the same height as Lawrence ONLY because she had on 2-3 inches heels. Finally, as mentioned, Lawrence was a lot taller than Leguizamo in 'Whats the Worst That Can Happen'. If Leguizamo is 5'8'', Martin Lawrence has to be at least 5'9''. Alright...He HAS to be 5'8...and im saying has to....In 'whats the worst that can happen'...Lawrence is an inch and a half taller then leguiziamo...I analyzed scene after scene of that movie....Lawrence is taller than him...with no suspicious footwear.....He could infact be taller then this...This either means..leguiziamo is 5'6 or Martins 5'8+..Cause there was a serious height difference between he and john...
