I'm curious, Rob, what are these conventions about? Is it a way for the stars of the show to promote the series?
[Editor Rob: well, in some ways yes, it might help promote their shows, but really by and large they are just there for autographs/photo ops/staged talks. Some celebs walk away with $20,000 in their pocket for attending these things...some of these cons have parties where the celebs attend and if you book into the same hotel the majority of celeb guests are, then you can also bump into them a lot and ask them a few questions...
If I couldn't write off the costs as business expenses I wouldn't be going to any more as they are bloody expensive! But I can offset the cost and since its really easiest way for me to see any celebs up close on flat ground I go...] Editor Rob says on 22/Jun/06
