Maxine Peake's Height

English Actress best known for playing Twinkle in Dinnerladies, Martha Costello in Silk and Veronica in British TV show Shameless. In a BBC press page she mentioned her height, saying "Although Anne [Lister] was only about 5ft 4in – I'm 5ft 7 – in those days that was tall, so I thought that's good because I did start panicking thinking I'm physically nothing like her!".

When I was younger, I wasn't bothered about my weight. I was sporty and tall - I'm 5ft 7in and quite solid and I just thought it was my lot in life to be big. I used to get called Miss Piggy at primary school. It was upsetting but I tried to take no notice.

I SWEAR I saw Maxine make a brief appearance in Classic Coronation Street today - at a party. She could look Tracy Shaw's Maxine straight in the face, but then, there's only half an inch in it.

I've just read that Maxine played the part of German model and singer Nico in a dramatisation. She's all of 8cm shorter than Nico, but I'd still love to see the production!

Wow - I can't believe that Maxine hasn't had any comments since 2016 - mine to be exact! I remember having a phone conversation with my boyfriend, who was watching the dramatisation of the Brady and Hindley Moores Murders, as was I, moaning the blue from the sky that they chose far too pretty an actress to play Myra Hindley! I still think that, but since I saw the terrifying drama, I have seen Maxine play rather nicer parts, and her role in Jimmy McGovern's 'The Street' rings a particularly loud bell, wherein she plays the Mum of a Down's Syndrome boy, whose father, played by Stephen Graham, is reluctant to have anything to do with the boy - until he meets him properly. It's a really lovely watch, and I was able to see the nice side of Maxine into the bargain.
I know she's a tall lady. She was significantly taller than Stephen, but not as tall, by any means, as Sean Harris, who played opposite her as Ian Brady. I hated him too! Then I found out more about him and went out of my way to collect his films, and even had him put up on Celebheights! 😂😂📏
Maxine turns 45 today. Have a lovely Birthday, Maxie! 😁💐

Editor RobMaxine' claim of 5ft 7 seems reasonable, you can see With Florench Pugh and Maisie Williams she looks tall.

I didn't know she was this tall! I thought about 5ft6. We are so used to beanpole actresses that when we see 'woman-shaped' ones, we might subconsciously see them as a little shorter
