Well in '79, I'd say they we're both at their peak heights. Maybe not Meat because he fell off stage and broke his leg in '78. I'd say that took about an inch from his 6' height. So from late '78- I'd say he's a strong 5'10" or a weak 5'11"

I met Meat Loaf in 2002, and he was taller than my step-dad, who is a strong 5'10". Meat looked very 5'11ish around him. Maybe a few centemeters under 6'.
I'd say barefoot, Meat peaked 6' and is now a strong 5'10" or a weak 5'11" (barefoot)

Guess we'll never know until one of us has our pic taken with him. Im curious to see the pic of Meat and Glen from 93. The old pic that was posted made Meat Loaf look 5'10 and a half. I watched the movie, Focus, with William H Macy in it. Funny thing is, Macy and Laura Dern look the same height in a scene where she doesnt have high heels on. Which would make Macy 5'10. Then Meat Loaf at times looks 2 inches and sometimes 3 inches taller than Macy.

Im sure Macy is really 5'8.5, which makes Meat look 5'11ish.

I don't know how people could ever think Meat Loaf is bigger than 5'11. Id like to see a picture of meat loaf, lined up against a wall with a bunch of true 6 footers than you'd get the point. Meat loaf is not short, and in many peoples eyes might seem 6 foot, but is truely not, im willing to bet money on it. I am 6 foot 2 according to my doctor, and I was at least 3 inches taller than him when we met.

I dont know how you people can think Meat is as small as 5'9"! This man is in his 60's, has severe health problems, and has broken both of his legs before! He has lost height from his once 6' frame, but is nothing under 5'11"

Well, heres my piece... Meat is not built huge, he looks to be a size 10, maybe 11 shoe, average size hands feet etc. I say he never really was ever a legit 6 footer. He was 5'11ish maybe 5-11.5 max as a teenager who rounded it up to 6. Look at him in RHPS, look at him in all of his tele appearances.

No matter what this site says, here's what I think. Meat Loaf peaked 6'1" and is now at 5'11". He appeared shortest to me in the early 90's, but looks taller now than he did then. Meat Loaf used to look very tall in his prime however. He mostly claims his height as 6'1 1/2" and 6'2" but he is not that anymore if he was ever anything over 6'1". Everyone who commented agreeing with only 5'10", you really need to pay attention to the way Meat stands. His shoulders are severly hunched and his neck is never straight. If he can appear 5'10" with that posture, wouldn't you think he's taller when he stands straight? Look how he's built! He's built like he was huge! Meat standing perfectly straight is damn close to 6'. Plus, I've met him, and he was taller than my step dad who is five ten and a half. Meat Loaf is taller than 5'10"!

Leung, it's proven Meat Loaf was 6'1.5", there's no doubt about that at all. And Meat back in the day was most definatly 6'. Definatly not today, but he was. I collect all things Meat Loaf related. I have almost all known footage of him from '65-now. He was definatly a tall guy at one point in his life.

Rob, I really think you need consider Meat's height as a peak of 6'1.5" and his current height at 5'11" or 5'11.5" He was measured in high school football at over 6'1.5" and honestly Rob, if you look at some old footage of Meat, he looks damn well near that mark. But today, he slouches tremendously, and gives a weak 5'10" impression, which if you look at how he's built, you can tell with better posture he would at least gain an inch, maybe an inch and a half. Yes Leung, Edward Norton at nearly 6'2" is taller than Meat Loaf in current time. However, in Fight Club, there is a scene were Meat Loaf is not wearing lifts. It's the scene we're Tyler is observing him on the porch, and with perfect posture, Meat was one inch taller than 5'11" Brad Pitt. Meat with perfect posture is no doubt 6'. seen Meat on 'Dont Forget the Lyrics", along with Wayne Brady who is listed as 6 foot on most websites (tho not listed here). At times Meat looked 1/2 inch to an inch shorter but there were times that Meat stood straight up and he was pretty well the same height. This site says Katherine McPhee is 5'8". On the American Idol performance with Meat Loaf, she is wearing 2.5 inch heels, making her 5'10.5", now Meat Loaf naturally standing is the same hight as her 5'10.5" but when he straightens up a couple of times in the perfomance, he has two inches on her, making him 6'0" with perfect posture. I'm agreeing with Rob here 6' peak but currently a 5'10 height for the 61 yr old. It's really his neck that makes his height deceiving, he doesn't have a long neck at all.

I still see 5'11" for his current height rob. Because if he stands up straight, he's going to be taller than 5'10, which is the height he appears with bad posture

you've gotta look at other pics and film. the way he stands is a big take away from his true height. He usually stands w/his shoulders hunched and his neck never straight up. He's still 5'11 or 6'

Man, I love Meat Loaf, but I always thought he was a giant until I saw this. He looks so tall on stage. Well, I can most definatly see his peak height as 6ft. But I looked at the comments below and looked at the photo again, and I can also see 5'11 if he stands up straight, 'cause he looks 5'10 and a half here at his lowest.

I was just watching an interview with him on youtube from 2006, and the interviewer says "well for a man of your stature, which i'm guessing is over 6ft." He says "Just 6ft. I got into a car accident and It hurts for me to stand up straight"

I honestly believe that Meat Loaf can be 6 foot. I really think that you shouldn't put slouching height as there full height. (In this photo he is clearly slouching.) My cousin, when slouching, can give off the image that he's only 6'0" but when he straightens out with perfect posture, he is measured at 6'4", Honestly Rob, you should give him 6' or at least peak him at 6'

I was just watching his performance with Katherine McPhee on American Idol.
She's 5'8 (as listed on this site) and Meat appears 2-3 inches taller than he, while she's in 3-4 inch heals. making Meat 6' or 6'1"

Well Rob, I am a HUGE HUGE Meat Loaf fan, and I read, and I don't know if it is false or not, that he was measured as 6'1.5" in high school football. If he was that tall, he absolutly lost height. He has has car accidents, his plane had to make a crash landing, and he has has concusion after concusion. He probabally lost all of that height, and is probally a strong 5'10" or a weak 5'11" now. By the way Rob, I have not used diffrent names and repost anything. I just found out about it a couple of days ago. my first comment on here was the one comparing him to patty russo.

saw him on stage last night from about 10 feet away, certainly didn't look 6ft+ as some have claimed from where i was standing (but i didn't get to stand beside him0, patti russo and the other female backer were as tall if not taller than him in heels, his voice is nearly gone too, pity wonderful talent :(

They had meatloaf standing on a box in his fist scene in fight club (the cancer suffer's help group). The box made him look 6'4'' when norton hugs him. However later on in the film they forget to put him back on the box or in lifts, and you can clearly see he is only about 5'10''. He is not short, but far from the GIANT his PR would have you believe.

If you listen to the commentary of Fight Club on DVD with Fincher, Pitt and Norton they say straight-up that Meat Loaf is shorter than norton and they put "gigantic" lifts in his shoes in all of his scenes.

[Editor Rob: yep, he is never in a million years a 6 footer in the last few years.]
