Ed Norton looks a lot shorter than Mr Meaty in Fight Club and they’re both the same height.

Those bitch tits even look so real; I can see the nipples!

In Americathon, 6 ft 3 Harvey Korman had pretty much a full 4 inches on Meatloaf. That was late 70s. Meat was carrying a lot of weight at the time though. He really looked no more than 181 cm if Korman was only 6'3 flat.

@ Lalonde - That’s an interesting piece of info! Meaty was big in other ways though, including his size in general, and
his beautiful, classically trained voice.

PS You sound French. Are you?
Lalonde said on 29/Jan/23
in Fight Club, Edward Norton (6’) said in an interview that he was taller than Meat so they had in stand on a box for the movie. Judging by pictures, Meat never looked more than 5 foot 11 at any given point, even in cowboy boots. I’d bet money that he was 5 foot 10 flat.

Fight Club is showing again tonight and Mr Meaty is so fantastic and funny!

He had a lovely smile and laugh and fitted into the film perfectly.

6ft0.5. He seems taller than Ed Norton.

That was FANTASTIC!

I’ll definitely be watching it again. 😊

It’s been crossing my mind of late to watch Fight Club in Mr
Meaty’s honour.

I don’t know how I’ll react, but I think I’ll be crying my eyes out.

He was a beautiful person with an equally beautiful voice. Now I’m going to hear β€˜Bat Out Of Hell’.

I'd agree with 6 ft. I'm pro celebrity match photos with John Mcenroe in 1982 he's at least as tall as McEnroe, and I think everyone puts John between 5 ft 11 and 5 ft 11 3/4 in his prime. Clearly Meat shrunk a lot with all his health problems including trapped nerves in his back.

Just heard the news recently that meatloaf passed away. I have been a big fan of rock and metal genre and it saddens to see a rock legend leaving this world. I feel sorry for both his families and his friends as they are a close presence to him. I hope meatloaf’s families and friends goes well and may meatloaf Rest In Peace and hopefully he will share a rocking vibe to the young generations and his masterpiece will not be forgotten.

He will get 6 feet tall.

RIP Meatloaf and Hardy Kruger. Highly recommend the film The One That Got Away if you've not seen it. Hardy should have a page on here, one of the top German actors of the 50s-70s, he was in The Wild Geese with Burton and Moore. When I went to Florida in 1994 I listened to Bat Out of Hell II throughout the whole three week holiday. I associate it with Kennedy Space Center and the 1986 shuttle disaster as I was playing it on my Walkman the day I visited! Powerful stuff. Meatloaf was a guy who I'm sure would get guessed as bigger than this.

Looks 5”11 at peak, Robert Patrick has a good inch on him in some pics. Depending on footwear I could see 5 foot 9 flat even in the 80s

Rob, you haven't updated his current height in almost 15 years. I think he's down to 5'8.5"-5'9" now. His health is really bad.
Editor Rob
I am sure he looks weak 5ft 9 at times, but if he still can somehow stand up tall for a measurement I doubt he's as short as 5ft 9, maybe 5ft 9.5 today.

Ironically, when I hunt around for classical music to listen to on my phone, I get plenty on Meat Loaf's music coming my way. which isn't exactly surprising. Mr Loaf is a classically trained singer.

He didn't wear lifts in Fight Club... He stood on a box instead! As for his peak height - he was about a flat 6 foot or also possibly a weak 6 foot. Not the well over 6 foot like he looked standing on the box in Fight Club.

Here's good old Meat with Prince Charles from 2003. If Prince Charles is 5'9 then Meat looks about 5'6 here!
Barry Fl said on 9/Aug/17
In his autobiography and interviews Meat calls himself 6 foot. I'd imagine this is his rough estimate from young adulthood. So he was possibly a little less, and certainly looks a few inches shorter than that now. Weight issues, numerous operations and health troubles, and bad posture all contribute. To me he looks 5'10 at very best. In his younger days he looked shorter, possibly because he was well over 20 stone. In his 40s and 50s he could look taller because of weight loss. 'Fight Club' had him on a box for some scenes, which he's made no secret of. Watch the movie and you'll see his height vary dramatically.
Slim 181 cm said on 12/Jul/17
Wore lifts in fight club. Probably same height as ed norton peak.
HeightMan said on 30/Jun/17
Perhaps he wears lift, but he looked borderline-tall when I saw him in concert... so probably 6' peak.
Sandy Cowell said on 27/Mar/17
I'm afraid that I am one of those people who expected Mr Loaf to be a whole lot taller! The reason for this is the opening scene in 'Fight Club', where 6ft Ed Norton is neatly under his chin, squashed there uncomfortably I know, but there all the same! That image has kind of stayed with me, and not for height reasons, I can tell you! The fact that you see the two of them in other parts of the film standing together didn't cancel out the opening scene for me and I carried on thinking Meatie was 6ft3/6ft4!
Ridiculous I know, but true!
For his peak height, I give him 6ft and a diddy little quarter inch for luck and for his present height, I'm shaving off one and three quarter inches! πŸŽˆπŸ˜“πŸŽˆ

Here's Meat Loaf with a 6'4" Stephen Fry, way back in the 80s. There's a lot more than a 4" difference there.
Mark said on 24/Mar/17
Maybe it was his rotund stature, but Meat Loaf never really struck me as a particularly tall fellow even back in his younger days. He was often pictured or filmed next to people who were a good deal taller than him. I think if he claimed 6 foot then he was rounding up, even then. Maybe a strong 5'10, or a little over, in his youth, and 5'8 or 9" now?
John said on 23/Feb/17
Meatloaf wears lifts.
JC said on 23/Nov/16
Looking at him recently he seems very small. A lot of his recent promotional work is alongside the actor/singer Andrew Polec. Andrew is listed at 6', and yet he positively towers over Meat Loaf. What do you think?
Dingus said on 5/Sep/16
I think he was 6'00.00" at his peak but 5'10.00" seems low. Perhaps 0.75-1.25 inches taller.

Did Meat-Loaf lift weights when he was young? I know he was fat but in Rocky-Horror his arms look huge like he did power-lifting or something. Look here.. https://tinyurl.com/kpzquwb Maybe if he did that could be why he loose more height than normal.

In Rocky Horror he was about half inch under the muscleman when face-to-face, who is listed as 6'1. If that's true then Meat Loaf must have been in the 5'11.25 - 5'11.5 range at peak given that the muscleman was barefoot and Meatloaf was in some kind of boot with a relatively small heel.

Tim said on 28/Jul/11
Stood about 10 feet from Meat in Belleville at Rockfest... he is very hunched over now but still had the presence of being a solid 5-11 give or take. So id say this is bang on! If he stands straight he is probably 5-10 1/2 or better.

My dad has lost 1" and he's not even 60 yet, I think considering Meat Loaf's weight and age, he might be 5'10 and he was 6' with the potential to be peak 6'1, had he not been fat since so young. Rob has this spot on.
T.J. said on 11/Jun/11
Lorne, he actually wore lifts for Fight Club.
They did a back to back, with Meat being about an inch shorter than him.
5'11" for that point in time sounds about right. He was probabally the peak height (6') in his younger days (1960's/1970's)...but is most likely under now. He still claims 6' though..so probabally not to far off from that mark. Can look it at times.
T.J. said on 1/Jun/11

John Rhys Davies was barely 5ft 10 in 2007 (stretching to talk to a 5ft 11 guy he was still an inch smaller) and he was 60's, so maybe there's a chance he's lost a lot more than average.

Meat Loaf's height is like impossible to tell...I just got settled on the idea that he's 5'10" and now he looks taller! I will just have to say, he's nothing taller than 6' and nothing shorter than 5'10"...we'll leave it at that I guess haha

I will say that Meat Loaf can look very short. He didn't look tall at all in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, except for the mugshot that put him at 6'1". He has looked really tall in some movies and shows. Meat most recently claims 6'. I believe with all his health problems, he's visited the doctor enough to know his height. He may not look it because of his bad posture? Idk. The shortest I can see Meat Loaf at is 5'10". But he looks many different sizes depending on who he's with. But he is definatly somewhere between 5'10" and 6'0".

seen Meat on 'Dont Forget the Lyrics", along with Wayne Brady who is listed as 6 foot on most websites (tho not listed here). At times Meat looked 1/2 inch to an inch shorter but there were times that Meat stood straight up and he was pretty well the same height. So if Brady is truely 6 foot, than yes, Meat is still closer to the 5'11 mark and change.

well ron, i am perhaps the biggest meat loaf fan there is, and i know sites that list the stupid of facts about him lol. but I was researching his height, and he was measured in football in high school at 6'1.5" So he was once over 6', but in some 80's flicks he was in, he lookes more 6'. In some of his concerts though, he just towers over everyone. I can definatly see a peak of 6'1" or 6'1.5" By the way Rob, his peak height needs to be upgraded, it's a proven fact he was once 6'1.5"
Ron said on 18/Feb/09
Im not disagreeing TJ, but it would be hard to see a 6'1 peak in his TV/Movie performances. I see strong 5'11 to 6'. Who knows tho,
T.J. said on 17/Feb/09
I agree Ron. Meat is probabally still close to 5'11.5" maybe 6'. Personally, I think he peaked 6'1", but his posture is TERRIBLE, so he may look 5'10 when slouching, but I also agree with Jared, In that American Idol performance, he stood up straight and was a definite 6'0". I think Rob needs to upgrade his height to either 5'11" or 6'0" and peak him at 6'1". He also looked as tall as Dennis Quaid in cowboy boots when he stood up straight, and meat was only wearing dress shoes!
Ron said on 16/Feb/09
guys, I may be wrong, but I dont think anyone actually shrinks... they just loose posture. I sure everyone can stand close to peak height at any age when made to stand straight.
Anonymous said on 15/Feb/09
YEAH! Jared I noticed that to! He was the same height as her when he stood normal, but he did stand up sraight a couple of times in the performance and he would have been 6ft.
Jared said on 14/Feb/09
This site says Katherine McPhee is 5'8". On the American Idol performance with Meat Loaf, she is wearing 2.5 inch heels, making her 5'10.5", now Meat Loaf naturally standing is the same hight as her 5'10.5" but when he straightens up a couple of times in the perfomance, he has two inches on her, making him 6'0" with perfect posture. Rob, when he stands up straight, he's still 6'0", but when he stands just plain, he's 5'10.5" He MIGHT have peaked 6'1"
T.J. said on 8/Feb/09
thanks glenn. Maybe this time if he actually knows he's being compared to figure out his height, he'll actually straighten up.
glenn said on 8/Feb/09
t.j-ill ask.but i wonder if ill get a straight answer.
T.J. said on 7/Feb/09
was just a thought lol.
This seems kinda confusing that everyone is giving diffrent heights for diffrent sightings.
That would be cool glenn. if you see him you should ask him, because if he's not standing up straight, he looks a whole diffrent height in my oppinion.
and yes, ron, i've heard many diffrent height claims two. most of them were 6'2"
glenn said on 6/Feb/09
do a signing? since when does rob qualify for that or can even afford to pay meatloaf for that? and does meatloaf have the time or the need financially to do it? he doesnt need money.and can get grumpy.private signings on top pic is what i do.dont pay a dime.and ill ask him.has been around alot.so,probably wont be around again for awhile.he claims retiring.but they all do.
Ron said on 6/Feb/09
lol... T.J, I don't think Meat even knows his height. I've seen him quote 6'2, 6 1/2 in, 6'1, 6' and he told a reporter in 02' that he is just shy of 6'.
T.J. said on 5/Feb/09
Rob, why don't you try to get Meat Loaf to do a signing and ask him his height?
Ron said on 5/Feb/09
i'll agree with T.j, in the documentary, Meat Loaf hunched over, walking with Quaid too his dressing room after the show, they looked the same height. Quaid in cb boots meat in dress shoes.
T.J. said on 2/Feb/09
Well, Rob I'm glad to see yo peaked him at 6'0"
Still think with good posture he could be 5'10.5" or 5'11" in present day.
When he straightened up next to Denis Quaid in Meat Loaf: In Search Of Paradise, he lookes VERY close to denis' 6'0 frame
Anonymous said on 1/Feb/09
he can still be 5'11" my dad is 6'0, but when he dosent stand up straight, he looks 5'10, 5'11. So if Meat actually straightened up, he'd be 5'11
Ben said on 29/Jan/09
Yes, definatly a short neck, but he hunches alot, and if 5'10 is the height he is with bad posture, then he is more than likely 5'10.5"/5'11". He still can appear tall at the age of 61.
Ron said on 28/Jan/09
I'm agreeing with Rob here 6' peak but currently a 5'10 height for the 61 yr old. It's really his neck that makes his height deceiving, he doesn't have a long neck at all.
Ben said on 27/Jan/09
I still see 5'11" for his current height rob. Because if he stands up straight, he's going to be taller than 5'10, which is the height he appears with bad posture
Anonymous said on 25/Jan/09
you've gotta look at other pics and film. the way he stands is a big take away from his true height. He usually stands w/his shoulders hunched and his neck never straight up. He's still 5'11 or 6'
Dan said on 22/Jan/09
Man, I love Meat Loaf, but I always thought he was a giant until I saw this. He looks so tall on stage. Well, I can most definatly see his peak height as 6ft. But I looked at the comments below and looked at the photo again, and I can also see 5'11 if he stands up straight, 'cause he looks 5'10 and a half here at his lowest.
Anonymous said on 20/Jan/09
i agree w/the one. He can still probablly be 5'11 when straightens out
The One said on 19/Jan/09
6' peak.
5'11 now
Anonymous said on 19/Jan/09
i don't know rob, looks like he can still be 5'11", but yes, 6'0" peak for sure.
MasterT---// said on 17/Jan/09
i thinks he's definatly either 5'10 and a half or 5'11 nowadays because he looks 5'10, WHILE SLOUCHING! but, yeah rob, i'm glad to see you gave him a 6' peak, i just think he is in the 5'10.5/5'11 range
Anonymous said on 16/Jan/09
looks 5'11 in this pic
Anonymous said on 7/Jan/09
He is taller than 5'10!!! listen, rob:
I was just watching an interview with him on youtube from 2006, and the interviewer says "well for a man of your stature, which i'm guessing is over 6ft." He says "Just 6ft. I got into a car accident and It hurts for me to stand up straight"
He just can't stand with perfect posture
Anonymous said on 5/Jan/09
yeah i can definatly see a 6' peak
K.P. said on 4/Jan/09
I honestly believe that Meat Loaf can be 6 foot. I really think that you shouldn't put slouching height as there full height. (In this photo he is clearly slouching.) My cousin, when slouching, can give off the image that he's only 6'0" but when he straightens out with perfect posture, he is measured at 6'4", Honestly Rob, you should give him 6' or at least peak him at 6'

Editor Rob
I do think he's lost height and will give him 6ft peak.
Ian said on 3/Jan/09
Looks 179cm to me in that photo.
Anonymous said on 30/Dec/08
come on rob!
at least a 6' peak.
Spence said on 29/Dec/08
I was just watching his performance with Katherine McPhee on American Idol.
She's 5'8 (as listed on this site) and Meat appears 2-3 inches taller than he, while she's in 3-4 inch heals. making Meat 6' or 6'1"
T.J. said on 29/Dec/08
well, in that picture ron provided of him and kevin costner, he looks 6' when slouching, so he was most likley a 6 footer.
Could have bee 6.05
Anonymous said on 29/Dec/08
yeah i agree.
a peak of 6ft. but 5-10 or 11 now
T.J. said on 27/Dec/08
Rob, even Glenn agrees that you shoukd peak him at 6'
He probabally is 5'10 now, but he broke his leg at a concert, so he's bound tohave gone down an in. i'd say leave him at 5'10, but peak him at 6'. Actually, you should put him at 5'11, because in this picture he apears 5'10 with bad posture.
Ron said on 27/Dec/08
Meat Loaf with 6 foot 1 Kevin Costner. Not sure of footwear...

I always pictured Meat too be a 6 footer, but in movies he always looks 5'9-10ish. Hard too say..... Never met'em.
HaNiBalthecannibal said on 21/Dec/08
this is the only site i've seen him listed under 6'
Anonymous said on 20/Dec/08
seen him listed as low as 5-10 to 6-2.
Anonymous said on 19/Dec/08
I was just on his room at the top news page, and it sayes he's 6 foot 2.
maybe he lost height though. actually looks more 6 foot to me
T.J. said on 16/Dec/08
Well Rob, I am a HUGE HUGE Meat Loaf fan, and I read, and I don't know if it is false or not, that he was measured as 6'1.5" in high school football. If he was that tall, he absolutly lost height. He has has car accidents, his plane had to make a crash landing, and he has has concusion after concusion. He probabally lost all of that height, and is probally a strong 5'10" or a weak 5'11" now. By the way Rob, I have not used diffrent names and repost anything. I just found out about it a couple of days ago. my first comment on here was the one comparing him to patty russo.
T.J. said on 16/Dec/08
So I'd say he's 5'11 at the most now possibly 5'10, but probally was 6ft. or over
Danimal said on 16/Dec/08
He looks to have shrunk about 1.5". I used to see a strong 6'0" man and now he seems to be about 5'10.5"-5'11".
glenn said on 15/Dec/08
didnt realise that rob.
T.J. said on 15/Dec/08
Rob, I know you are just playing it safe, but I did actually meet him at the Star Plaza Hotel after a show he did in '02. He autographed my copy of his "Storytellers" dvd. and like Glenn said though, he can appear 5'10", but more than likely peaked 6'

Editor Rob
there's no need to make tons of posts and use different names. It lowers things. He could have been 6ft peak, I think he's lost some height, how much is the question.
glenn said on 15/Dec/08
good to read posts by someone that actually met him.and not hear crap from others.

Editor Rob
there's about 60 posts I'm going to delete from this page. I don't know if t.j saw Meat, but I don't trust anybody if they use multiple names...
T.J. said on 14/Dec/08
your welcome glenn. when i saw him back in '02, i got his autograph after the show. He was a little bit bigger than my step dad, who is 5'10, but not much. But when I see him on t.v., he dosen't look that tall. His height is very hard to predict, but he at least peaked 6' or 6'1
glenn said on 13/Dec/08
thank you for agreeing with me that he can give the illusion of 5-10.and yes,i guess i heard the over 6ft claims too.
Clay said on 5/Aug/08
This would be one Rob definitely needs to upgrade.
Vegas said on 17/Jul/08
saw him on stage last night from about 10 feet away, certainly didn't look 6ft+ as some have claimed from where i was standing (but i didn't get to stand beside him0, patti russo and the other female backer were as tall if not taller than him in heels, his voice is nearly gone too, pity wonderful talent :(
Anonymous said on 8/Oct/07
c'mon thats a definite 5'10.5... and the guys like 58. Take a good look the distance from his ear to his head is a good 5 inches+. His peak height would have been close to 6'
Jeff said on 31/Aug/07
I Met Meat in 1996, wearing cowboy boots he was same height as me around 6' and a half inch or so. So I'd say 5'11 was his peak height now he likes as though 5'9-10 is a little generous
Anonymous said on 24/Jun/07
man in fight club he looked atleast 2 inches taller than norton when they were hugging, Iam guessing because they wanted him to look like a "big moosy" haha best movie ever.
anonymous said on 19/Jun/07
In 51st state, Meatloaf and Samuel L. Jackson are face to face and Meat is a definite 6'0 when he is standing in perfect posture. Because he is only 2 inches shorter than Jackson who is wearing boots, whereas meat is wearing slippers.
Anthony said on 6/May/07
Meat Loaf rules. I think he may have been close to 6' in his peak, but 5'10 loos right for now.
Jake said on 3/May/07
In the movie "Americathon", Mr Loaf was like 4 inchs shorter than 6'4 Harvey Korman. He had tennis shoes on so i'd say Meat has some serious degenerative disc problem cuz he was definitely 6' at one point or very close.
Franco said on 30/Apr/07
i got a question to ROB .... did you downgrade MeatLoaf?

i thought (maybe my immagination) seeing him 5'11 in the website.

next to Glenn though he looks 5'11 so if you downgrade him to 5'10 you did very good. it's the right height.

Editor Rob
I upgraded him 1/2 inch a year ago I think
trent said on 12/Mar/07
in RHPS, in his mugshot he was like 6', but his wig was huge in that movie; hard to tell.
Vern said on 9/Feb/07
On a Q&A forum, Meat himself answered he was 6foot 1/2inch, however while standing with patrick Swayze in a movie he only looked to be an inch or so taller.
Jake said on 9/Oct/06
I think he used to be a little taller, but 5'10" seems about right for now.
Middle-sized Cat said on 5/Oct/06
Every year that passes, Meat looks more like Elvis Presley! Once saw him perform when his leg was in plaster. Respect due.
Franco said on 28/Sep/06
my favorite singer/band ever!!!!!!

i met him personally and he looked 180 cm with boots. so 1.78 cm is probably the right height. :)
SH said on 28/May/06
They had meatloaf standing on a box in his fist scene in fight club (the cancer suffer's help group). The box made him look 6'4'' when norton hugs him. However later on in the film they forget to put him back on the box or in lifts, and you can clearly see he is only about 5'10''. He is not short, but far from the GIANT his PR would have you believe.
TheJerk said on 17/Mar/06
Another guy that i thought was tall proves to be average. Maybe he hangs out with only short people.
Glenn said on 21/Jan/06
I have a pic from 1993 with his long hair look.still 5-10.
Danimal said on 20/Jan/06
HE's about 5'10" in that pic with Glenn. I don't doubt that Meatloaf may have been 5'11" and change 25-30 years ago and rounded up to 6'0". I know that he weighed between 350-380 pounds and went down to about 275 pounds during his comeback album of the early 90's.
