I have many of his films and bought another as a result of being so impressed with his adaptability. It’s part of the Alien franchise, which isn’t included in my boxset of Alien films, so it was made later.

Its been.. Ooh.. 8 years(?) But painted/prepped sets on Prometheus, and stood near Fassbender, Spall... Most of the cast. I'm 5ft 11.75in morning height, had at least on inch on him before his body shot/close in lifts were put in. 5ft 10.5in flat. Above average, not "tall".

So true about the issues of fitting suits. I’m 181 when I wake up and just over 179 when I go to bed (I would say I’m over 5’11” throughout most of the day). Im glad im not the only one struggling with the clothes issue. Im 5ft 10.5, ive got the trousers sorted, whether its jeans, chinos or smart trousers im 32" which fits comfortably, not to short, not to long, doesn't ride up to far when i sit down and never drags on the floor while im standing. But i have so much trouble with suit jackets. My chest is about a 38, thats okay, but if i go with 38 medium then the arms are to short and the body seems way to long, and if i go 38 short then the length of the body is okay but the arms are ridiculous, its really frustrating! I remember showing you a picture of me with my dad and I seemed to be 4-5 inches taller (in late 2017). But now I am 5.5-6.25" taller than my dad (who is 5'7.25" now and 57.75-8" peak). I was much bulkier last year but now that I took more proper care of my diet I am losing weight and am decompressing my spine to look one inch taller and maybe grow a little in height.

Editor RobA guy like Fassbender (assuming we agree on him being 5ft 11) might wake at 11.75, but to be a legit 5ft 11 I think you might not fall below that mark much more than a few mm's at night.

But I think I suffer from the same issue as Fassbender whom I have had stand in front of me on an airplane. My inseam is only 31.5 inches and I have a big noggin and long torso but have a thicker chest. Colleagues or acquaintances who don’t stand close to me believe I am shorter than I am until I stand within arms length. Fassbender was an inch shorter with similar foot ware. Think 180 is spot on.

@Frost, I wear a 34 inseam, which is above average for being 5'10. I expect Fassbender to have a similar inseam to a 5'11 person. It could be this picture that makes him look like his legs are shorter in proportion to his height. I would that a shorter torso with long legs can make you look taller as opposed to a long torso and shorter legs.

He looks similar to DiCaprio next to Marion Cotillard considering footwear and posture, and many wouldn't argue Leo under 5'11. Also considering the type of footwear Fassbender usually wears compared to many others around the 5'11 mark, I'd say 5'11 is as fair a listing for him as a fraction over the mark is for a guy like Leo.

181cm in my opinion. Has that wirey, gangly frame that a lot of Irish and British have, and that kind of build can make a man look taller than he really is. Hence a lot of people seem to assume he's somewhere in the 183-186cm range.

He has quite add body proportions. His torso is long but his legs are short. He also has a very slim waist and quite a skinny frame. But about his height yes I think 5' 11" sounds good for him. He looks quite tall to me.

There are many well known life wearers in Hollywood, in particular Sylvester Stallone, who by most estimates is 5'7" barefoot.
Many celebrities also tend to list their height in shoes or exaggerate by an inch or two.
I do not think Fassbender is taller than 178cm max. Camera angles and surfaces also throw things off. If you have an adequate camera shot on a flat surface maybe you could get a better idea of a celebrities height. But my most educated guess for Fassbender is 5'10" nothing more, maybe a bit less.

@Sam I think they're both 1,80m. And DiCaprio too. I just find it weird that Johnny Depp is listed as 5'10 but next to Leo he's the same height.

Yeah, I think both Fassbender and Pitt are in the range of 179-180 cm tall. I think DiCaprio can pass for 181 cm at times but yeah, all these guys are similar range. It's just, unlike Fassbender and DiCaprio, Pitt does seem to pop on a little extra in his footwear at times. Barefoot w/ Paltrow, he could seem 5'10"ish then suddenly look near 2 inches taller than George Clooney in Ocean's 11 or a bit taller than six foot Eli Roth in Inglourious Basterds.

There's a lot of photos w/ Fassbender and Pitt since they've done 3 movies together and they really do look quite close IMO. If Pitt looks taller at times, I think it's because of extra heel.

@Tim hahaha but we should consider his height with a nice posture. I think that Michael is around 1,82m when he wakes up and is with a perfect posture. But in the end of the day and walking with a worse posture he's probably 1,80m.

He definitely is slightly shorter than Benedict Cumberbatch but I still think that he might be closer to 179 cm rather than being 180cm.
To me he just doesn't look like a full 5'11" guy. Pitt does instead, and you can see the difference between he and Pitt in that particular scene of the movie.

There's a scene in 12 Years a Slave where he and Brad Pitt stand on even ground and you can clearly see that although they look very close in height, Pitt is still slightly taller than him so I would put him at 179cm. I think it could be dead on.

@cole heights are complicated. Sometimes they look something and then they look taller or shorter. But seeing Michael still taller than 5'7 Keira Knightley wearing huge heels while he's wearing slippers...he seems to be around 6'0 =)

@rockitbaby: That's fair enough ;) I just don't think any of those pictures you posted could be used to argue if they are the same height or not. I for one haven't seen any shots of them worth mentioning. Having said that though, they could be very similar.
