In my comment from January of this year, I misspelled ‘licence’. It should have been with a ‘c’.

Z = the trots! I’d put something a little too rude to print!

I just met a long-haired guy while I was doing my shopping in the local off license come grocery store. I’d observed that he was buying a couple of packets of Guinness, and told him about a chap I’d heard about who drank the stuff, and it gave him the z so badly that when he slid his way out of bed, he’d leave a trail of skid marks! The young fellow found it incredibly funny, adding, “I’m not quite there yet!” 🤣

I can’t imagine he ever will be - he’s a clever, educated guy, and definitely not the sort to let himself go. I liked him very much.

I played Fleetwood Mac on the way home, and have no doubt that the fellow with the long, light brown hair would be intrigued by them.

Mick gets 6ft6 and a Rattlesnake….. 🐍, as in The Rattlesnake Shake! 😀

In the year 1992, when I lost my boyfriend, I walked about playing tapes on my Walkman. My favourite choices were Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, The Move and the Small Faces. It was due to my loud music that I met a guy called Chris, who
doesn’t live far from me. He’d played with Fleetwood Mac on Top Of The Pops in 1968. Chris’s guitar-playing was mesmerising! He knew the Small Faces as well, and told me that Steve Marriott’s girlfriend was called Sandy, and was responsible for naming the group. My friend Mick knew them too and said that they used to rehearse down my road, when I’ll have been tiny!

Huge Mick gets 6ft6. I was stunned when I saw him on an episode of Star Trek - he looked absolutely enormous!

@ Ian - I might add that I rarely get a Shakespearean question wrong when I watch quizzes.

I did have access to his complete works, which I took downstairs when my Mum, brother and I were playing card and board games. It was then that I got into the (very funny) quotations emitted from Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream.

My Mum told me not to take the ¶iss of a great writer.

I've been playing old Fleetwood Mac of late, plus some of their later stuff. It's consistently brilliant.

6ft6 for Mick. He'd make my friend and brilliant guitarist friend, Mick, look very small indeed. He's 5ft6.5, which is taller than me. Once I was coming down the road to see him and he was playing the guitar. He was professional alright, and used to play in a band with Bernie Frost. He could play ANYTHING. Mick has retired to the seaside now, after recovering from cancer.

6ft6 of Fleetwood muscle!
Mark D. said on 10/Sep/21
Definitely 6'6". I'm 6'4.5", he reminds me of myself around fellow musicians (who tend to be short, I picked the wrong career) just a bit taller. I've a lot more hair on top so that almost evens it up.
Miss Sandy Cowell said on 25/Nov/20
Huh! When I saw this monstrously huge guy in an episode of 'Star Trek', I had no idea it was Mick. By friend Bert had to point it out to me!

I'm 6'6" myself, and saw him backstage at a concert some years back, he was definitely 6'6". I managed to meet him and shook hands. You might say we saw eye to eye. Friendly & nice!

@Rampage: in that pic above he looked near 6’6 if not the full thing. Probably years ago
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 26/Aug/20
Closer to 6ft5 today but was a legit 6ft6 peak
Canson said on 24/Aug/20
@Editor Rob: I think they referred to his peak but it’s prob wrong if they did
Editor Rob
yeah, he's been called 6ft 5 by some folk in books too, a mix of 6ft 5 and 6 really.
Canson said on 23/Aug/20
@Editor Rob: he’s only listed at 6’5” on the internet in several places. Of course he does look 6’6” more so than 6’5”
Editor Rob
as a current height, 6ft 5 would be believable

It’s sad news to hear Green passed away.
Miss Sandy Cowell said on 26/Jul/20
I'm most upset to say that co-founder of Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green, passed away yesterday, apparently peacefully in his sleep, aged 73. Mick has been paying tribute to him, referring to Peter as "My greatest friend".

My heart goes out to all the members of Fleetwood Mac and everyone who knew and loved him. He was one of the best blues guitarists in the history of rock.

So sad.

RIP Peter XXX 🕯️💐

I was approached in Sainsbury's by a man who reckoned that my boyfriend looks like Mick Fleetwood. When I got home, I told him and he thought it was funny. I added, "But he's very, very tall! How can he think you look like a guy of six-and-a-half feet?"

His reply? "That's probably because he's seen me with you!"

Seemed as listed eye to eye with me 25+ years ago when he needed money playing a large club near Boulder Colorado. Bad time for Mick.

At 72 and 6ft6 peak height I'd be very surprised if he hadn't lost an inch at the very least by now.

What do you think, rob?
Editor Rob
By now he may be an inch shorter
JD1996 said on 21/Mar/19
I reckon 6'6" on the dot pretty much
William Barnett said on 22/Feb/19
I'm a hair under 6'3" and Mick has me by at least 3 inches, or at least he did when I worked for him back in the 90s. I was a sous-chef at his old restaurant and jazz club in Alexandria Virginia. He was a legitimately nice guy, though my last paycheck never did clear the bank. But, I don't blame Mick for that. I blame his lawyer who was supposed to be handling the payments after the restaurant closed. Never trust a lawyer who's nickname is "Big Joe".

@ Ian C - I guess there are people out there who fake a knowledge of most things!

My knowledge of Shakespeare is strictly limited to 'The Merchant of Venice' and 'Henry the IV Part I'. I simply HAD to study these plays, especially the latter, or I'd have failed my exams.

I don't know any kids who willingly read Shakespeare! Adults maybe, and people who take part in quizzes. As you get older, you pick things up about Shakespeare and how his use of the English language influenced words to this day. Now that IS interesting, but his plays....

I think they are an acquired taste.

Personally, I'd do what Blackadder did to William Shakespeare in 'Blackadder Back and Forth' when he visited the Elizabethan era, which was on behalf of all the schoolkids forced to read his novels, whether they want to or not!
Ian C. said on 27/Jun/18
Well, Sandy, he's fat as low-fat margarine. He's fatter than he was when he was young, okay?

You know how some people fake a knowledge of Shakespeare that they don't really have? I have been known to do this from time to time. Usually I either get away with it or people politely pretend not to notice the indiscretion.
Sandy Cowell said on 22/Jun/18
@ Rampage Clover - Yes, it could well have been Lindsay's peak height, I agree! I had a brilliant VHS video a while back of the band, and he sure did steal the show, so much so that I didn't really take in his height, other than that he isn't small or unduly tall. Of course, it would have helped if it had been possible to see Mick standing beside him, but that didn't happen if I recollect correctly. I would love to get the concert again on DVD, because I can't play videos anymore! It would be well worth tracking down!
Sandy Cowell said on 22/Jun/18
@ Ian C - So is he really 'as fat as butter'?
(Shakespearean quote from Henry IV Part I!)

Mick can have six six!
Ian C said on 21/Jun/18
Interesting that such an absurdly thin young man could have become so stout. On the cover of Rumours album, he was so thin that he looked deformed. Now he could play Falstaff.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 4/May/18
Sandy, yeah maybe at peak he was near 5ft10.
Canson said on 30/Apr/18
Not sure. He has thick heeled shoes in the pic above. I would go with no less than maybe 6’5.5 but he could very well be a solid 6’6”
Sandy Cowell said on 13/Apr/18
@ Rampage Clover - I've heard that the rest of the band have booted him out just short of their up-and-coming tour! I'm rather grossed out at the idea myself!

I just asked Google how tall Lindsey is, and the reply was 177cm, or 5ft9.75. He might have lost a bit now, of course!
He's my favourite out of Fleetwood Mac, and I won't be going out of my way to watch any concerts without him!

Big Mick can have 6ft5.75.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 11/Apr/18
Buckingham looks average range, maybe 5ft9ish?

also, appalled by his exit...without him there is no Fleetwood Mac
Sandy Cowell said on 29/Dec/16
Ooh! Now this gets serious Rob!
Would you please add a page for the great Lindsay Buckingham? For me, he stole the show EVERY single time! Wow!
Sandy Cowell said on 18/Oct/16
Before I write anything else, I was somewhat thrown by what I have just read when I found Mick Fleetwood's page here.
He says he was shy as a youngster and, yes, I can imagine being so tall and shy must be infinitely worse than being small and shy, and it has frequently occurred to me that if you do suffer from shyness, it is much easier to be small. I am an example, and for that reason I have felt thankful that I can conveniently disappear into a crowd of people, unlike Mick!
We kind of expect height to come with confidence because of its obvious advantages, but if it does not, it must be excruciating!
It's a blessing for Mick that he enjoyed the great success Fleetwood Mac so richly deserved and then went on into acting, which is a true indication that he was finally at peace with how he was made.
So much with what I was going to say before; I feel this to be more worthy a comment on a website such as this one. Anyway, for anyone with an interest in Fleetwood Mac, isn't it a tiddly bit superfluous to rant on about how good they were and I hear that Stevie Nicks is about to go on tour with Chrissie Hynde which goes to show that the members of such a solid rock band have real staying power!
Harold said on 6/Oct/16
Mick Fleetwood never needed 'magic shoes' (cowboy boots and such absurd bluster and bother) to appear very tall. Because even without the usual props and show biz smokescreens, he IS very tall. His six foot six is legit.
Tom said on 21/Nov/15
I remember Q magazine doing a feature called something like the short and tall of rock and I think they had him at 6'4.
Arch Stanton said on 21/Sep/15
As Rob says though Exorcist he can still look a strong 6'5 at even pushing 70. Peak I think he can look easily 6'6, most people talk about him as a virtual giant. It's an honest claim, as he'd not be the type to exaggerate being shy about it, in fact not impossible he measured a bit over it peak like a Mertesacker and rounded down.
Ali Baba said on 21/Sep/15
I don't think I've ever seen him standing before. I had no idea he was anything near that tall.
Anonymous said on 19/Sep/15
He definitely edged out Clarkson, with a bit of a footwear advantage. I think this is proof, though, that Clarkson is still over 6'4 and was definitely 6'5 peak. Not 6'2-6'3 as some claim.
The Exorcist said on 18/Sep/15
Great addition, Rob! He's a super tall guy, but I think closer to 6'5" today. 6'6" peak.

Photo is an old album cover. Makes Jeremy Spencer look 5'3" range.

Mick looking like a giant with Jeremy Spencer here. I know this illusion is all camera angle.

@Arch: I think Jeremy Clarkson is around 6'4" range now, 6'4.5"/75" peak. I've never bought his full 6'5" claim.
littlesue said on 18/Sep/15
What would Christine McVie be?? about 5ft 6?
Editor Rob
that's possible yeah.
Arch Stanton said on 17/Sep/15
A 6 ft 6 guy like Mick gives off more of a "fridge freezer" impression than a 6'5 guy. It's a height when guys can start to really look massive. Today I think mick looks nearer 6 ft 5 with Steve Tyler but he is approaching 70 now and in some photos can still look near 6'6. Imagine him at 25 out of bed. I can well imagine him hitting 2 metres first thing.
Arch Stanton said on 17/Sep/15
Yes Rob, in fact Mick reminded me of Clive in the above photograph in frame. Yes he had a lot of 6 ft 5 range listings but if you really look at him, he really looked more 6 ft 6 than 6 ft 5. In fact in some photos peak he could look a comfortable 6 ft 6 actually.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 17/Sep/15
Maybe 6ft5½ today, Rob?
Editor Rob
that figure today is likely
movieguy said on 17/Sep/15
Those of us of a certain age may remember his classic performance presenting the Brit awards back in the 80s with Sam Fox ex page 3 star who was barely 5ft. They looked a very odd pair.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 16/Sep/15
Really a full 6ft6, Rob?

I always heard 6ft5 and sometimes 6ft5½.
Editor Rob
certainly his peak he could look it I think.

Holy ****, I had no Idea he was that huge.

In the sleeve of their 1988 Greatest hits álbum Judy Davis says Mick Fleetwood is 6`6. He definitely looked it.
Sam said on 15/Sep/15
Always thought he was a solid 6'5"er...he looked about 4 inches over Schwarzenegger in his strange appearance in The Running Man.
Arch Stanton said on 15/Sep/15
Rob do you get what I mean with him looking like an old sea salt from a classical novel or something? You could quite imagine him helming a pirate ship with a parrot on his shoulder can't you? And the height too makes him that bit more intimidating!
Editor Rob
clive russell looks a bit like that in person I thought, from the banks of the Clyde river though...
Arch Stanton said on 15/Sep/15
Click Here Look at the size of him. Seeing him in a beach photo like that really makes you wonder if he one of his ancestors was a smuggler or wrecker or something. He's from Redruth, Cornwall and just looks like one of those old sea salt types from an old novel or something. He looks just like a smuggler!
Arch Stanton said on 15/Sep/15
Click Here Looks noticeably taller than Jeremy Clarkson there!
Editor Rob
I'm not sure how much height Mick has lost by nearly 70, but he can still look comfortably in the 6ft 5-6 range.
Arch Stanton said on 15/Sep/15
Thanks Rob. He definitely looked a legit 6'6 peak. Today he's lost a bit I think at pushing 70. My dad saw him once and said he was massive like "6 ft 8", but I think he was half joking.
