Well, at least he's honest. He said 5ft9 on a good day. I guess he is more like 174 or 174.6. Not the full 5ft9

my mom met him and she is 5 foot 0 and said he looked about 5 foot 8 - 5 foot 9 ish so this listing is spot on

Are you really guessing the height? Olly Murs is a short dude like my nme Chris.Five seven i'd reckon for Olly, the blonde hair on the voice was ok though.

Lol it's funny he claims 5'10 but doesn't give 6'1-2 (eh closer to 6'1 I guess) Sam Smith the bump to 6'3 or something within the vicinity. But he instead sells Sam nearly a couple inches short! I would like to see him claim 5'10 and then say that Sam is only "6'... MAYBE!" when they are both standing back to back barefoot! Guy is no bigger than 5'9 which is my generous estimate fo rhim.

Click Here Looks shorter than 5ft9 Wayne Rooney. Of course Rooney has footwear advantage but I think Murs is a little shorter than him.

Just looked at his Instagram and he rarely ever looks short even when he stands next to 5’10 - 6’ers his hair helps but he genuinely is eye to eye with a lot of people over 5’10

Click Here with 5’10.5 Jamie Dornan.

Click Here with 5’9.5 Tom Jones though plenty of pics of Tom looking a bit taller too.

Click Here With 5’8 Niall Horan

is he a lift wearer Rob? I think he looks 5’9.5 - 5’10 in pictures.

Maybe a legit 5’9er who wears a small lift? I don’t get why people guess him as low as 5’8.5, rarely looks it.
Editor Rob
Not a guy I'd ever think would wear lifts, but big boots? Yes, those are going to give you a good boost over other folk wearing normal shoes.

I'd been travelling down the old YouTube wormhole with a few X-Factor and {insert country here}'s Got Talent and noticed how short Olly Murs was. Even when standing next to what appeared to be average height women (admittedly with heels on) he looked to struggle with the height.

So, with an article on BBC News website there was a group shot. If Simon Cowell is 5'9", Olly Murs is so much shorter. My brain can work out the perspective and he's still way off. Hell, even if Cowell was wearing Tom Cruise shoes Olly Murs should be looking far taller than this. See what you think.

@Rexahsore 5'8 is average. Given the worldwide average for men is barely above 5'9 or 5'10, and those studies that quote those heights note that some data is self reported (meaning its likely a lot of guys exaggerated an inch or 2 as they always do in the western world at least) then 5'8 is very close if not the average for men overall. You might find this is an interesting read - Click Here

Have a great 35th!

I can't see him lying about his height somehow. He seems like the sort of guy who accepts himself the way he was made - bravo to him for that!

5ft8.75.

Trust me, at 6' it's safe to say 5'8ers and 5'9ers aren't as short as this forum make them out to be.
------
I think Slim hit the nail on the head! There are people who are 5 ft 6 who say they are 5 ft 8, so people then see 5 ft 8 as short because the guy in front of them saying it is short. It's only a couple of inches but the perception difference is quite big.

He always looked 6 foot on the x factor.He doesn't seem 5.8.
--------------
No he didn't, you're just a VERY poor judge of height. How does he 'look 6 foot' when he isn't? Looked 5 ft 8/9 range when around others.

If he said about 5'9" on a good day he wouldnt of stressed that point. Rob has pin pointed his height

It's a bit of honesty from Olly, so he should be rewarded with an honest assessment of 5ft 8.75.
Benph said on 4/Feb/18
I was chatting to him in the gym around 2 years ago, I'm 5ft10 1/2 & I felt like he was the same height as me. No where near 5ft 8 3/4. I know what he said 5ft9 on a good day but he prob hasn't measured himself before. No chance he is under 5ft 10. His height needs adjusting for sure

Rob, can we please give him the full 5'9"?

I'd say he's average height, probably gets guesses at 5'10" and 5'11"(cause everyone inflates themselves)

I think 5ft 8 3/4 suits his claim, on a good day he's 5ft 9.

Rob, how accurate do you think Olly's estimates on Sam Smith are? Is he well off the mark?
Editor Rob
he may have felt he was only 3-4 inches taller. I think Olly is being reasonably honest with his own claim of a weak 5ft 9, so he's in a good position to have a guess at Sam.

I saw him on X Factor and he seemed a few inches taller than the host and he wasn't dwarfed by Sir Bob Geldoff.
So I was thinking he isn't so short, whereas he never really looked tall to me.
5,10 doesn't seem so off the mark, but could well be 5,9

Olly Murs claiming 5ft 9, Lord he is lying!!!I definetley reckon he is 5ft 7!!!

I've always doubted the 5'9" claim for this guy. Even when he stands by himself, he looks fairly short.

Here he is with 5'4" Joe McElderry back in 2010 when they were on the X Factor:

Even taking into account the footwear difference, Olly has nowhere near five inches on Joe.
