Soul always looked a little tall (6'0''), while Glaser was average (5'10'') on the Starsky & Hutch TV series. As has been mentioned before, the difference between them was no more than 2 inches.

Problem with David Soul is his knees enter into the picture a half-hour before the rest of him does. There are times Glaser only looks 1.5 inches shorter and at other times 2.5 inches shorter. His hair was also curly and thick whereas Soul had baby fine hair, which would add to the impression of Glaser looking taller. I really think Soul was only no more than 2 inches taller than Paul. I don't think he was quite 5'11." His STARSKY & HUTCH co-star, David Soul, looked to be just a hair under 6'1". I'd peg PMG at peak at a strong 5'9"/weak 5'10".

Re Soul's height loss, I do know he's had at least one seriouos back injury that he needed surgery for. That could contribute to more than average height loss. mcfan says on 28/Apr/11
Right. If Soul only looked 6'0 then the obvious question would be, how could Paul Michael Glaser really have been 5'11 or even 5'10.5 for that matter? I grew up on their show and I've seen enough of Soul to know he was only 6'0. Glaser, gave an impression of 5'9.5 but he probably had a half-inch height disadvantage because of those small, blue sneakers...I can't remember what they were called. Soul would wear boots at times giving him a serious height advantage. Other times he only looked 2-2.5 inches taller than Glaser. mcfan says on 19/Apr/11
David Soul was only 6'0. I see him listed as 6'1 here, but that's just the agency listing. Glaser always looked 2-2.5 inches shorter. As for Stiller, he probably just had the misimpression that Glaser was shorter than he really was. I'll buy 5'10 for Glaser since he wore small blue sneakers, but since I know Soul was only 6 foot, he simply could not have been 5'11. Tim Matheson looked 2 inches taller than Soul and Clint Eastwood looked 3.5-4 inches taller than him.

Nope, don't buy it. Ben Stiller, who IS about 5'5", said on a show on the BBC Jonathon Ross back when they did teh Starsky & Hutch movie that Glaser was way taller than him. He had no reason to say it. He said it after Ross remarked that he resembled Glaser a lot in the movie. He said something like "sure I'd look even more like him if he were about 8 inches shorter"

There's gotta be a mistake here. Take a look at the cover of "Starsky & Hutch - The Complete First Season." Glaser is a good 4" shorter then 6'1" David Soul. |
