I was very conscious of my height. I remember this man saying: 'I'm not going to get you in shot' and I had to walk with my knees bent. Isn't that a dreadful thing to say to a young person?
But I knew I was alright when I was doing another television thing (a few years later] and the director asked the male lead to wear lifts. I thought, 'I've arrived! Or if I haven't arrived, I'm part of the way there.

How can she have been rejected from her first acting school for being too tall? That's disgusting!
I loved her as 'Margot' in 'The Good Life' as she introduced a touch of vulnerability to the taller lady! I particularly liked the Christmas episode wherein she said, "it's not that I don't want to have fun - it's that I don't know how to!"
I haven't really seen her in anything else, so I'm quite happy to stick with my memories of 'The Good Life'. I cannot therefore judge as to how much height she's lost over the years, but it's probably 1 - 1 and a half inches.

At 74 she's bound to have lost a good inch. 5'10 peak height, maybe a full inch less now Rob?

Editor Rob yeah she looks to have lost height, I thought she had stopped acting, but see she appeared in a show last year.
