Ha ha - one of Tom Good’s cockerels has just hopped on a number 71 bus, and Tom, played by Richard, chased the bus and had to sit on it holding the bird while paying for the privilege! β€œOne and a cockerel!” he says to the bus conductor! πŸ“πŸš

I don’t think Richard ever looked as tall as 5ft10, so I’m going for half an inch below that. The lady who played his wife, Barbara, played by Felicity Kendall, was only 5ft1.5 even back then, but was interestingly described by Tom in today’s episode as 5ft nothing, which is not what I read!

I'm watching Richard in 'The Good Life', and have just finished watching the Christmas one. β˜ƒοΈπŸŽ„πŸŽ…

It was a lovely, well-meaning comedy from the 70s, and it still makes me laugh to this day. There's a lot to be learnt from it; you don't need a hamper full of Christmas goodies to enjoy yourself, as Margo finds out!

I reckon on 5ft9.75 for him back then, in the mid-70s. Margo seems to be wearing heels because she is the tallest of all of them, even Paul Eddington, who plays her husband, Gerry, and he's supposed to have peaked at 6ft1, but I don't believe it! πŸ˜ƒ

I saw the first ever episode of 'The Good Life', along with my Mum! We were both hooked!

My favourite episode of all time was the Christmas one. They made their own crackers and, because they didn't have the ability to make a noise, they all had to say "bang", except for Margo, who said "crack"! She thought that "bang" was a trifle vulgar! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

5ft10 for Richard. Oh yes, and a couple of these: XX

I also saw Richard Briers starring in an episode of 'Mr Bean'!

He passed on 16 days after Arch Stanton sent his last comment, having brought tears of laughter to many, including my Mum, who loved him.

RIP Richard Briers xxx

I am watching Richard playing a real snake in the 'Inspector Morse' episode called 'Death is Now My Neighbour'. There is an American redhead who is much taller than him, but as I have no idea who she is, that throws any deductions of his height in this clean out the window, but as he's just blackmailed her into bed, there is no way she'll have been wearing any heels!

On a rather nicer note, I remember with great fondness the series 'The Good Life', wherein he played Tom Good, and his wife was played by the petite Felicity Kendall, who can't have been taller than 5ft1.5, though I always read she was 5ft2. He towered over her, but not over his neighbour Margot, played hilariously by the statuesque Penelope Keith. I'd say his optimum height was 5ft10 and he shrank down to 5ft8.

I go for 5ft8.5 as there is only one box!

Yeah he's 80 odd so 5'10" peak and 5'8" is about right. Lucky to still be alive, he said he's smoked 500,000 cigarettes and has a chronic lung condition which will finish him off soon enough. Seems an intelligent chap, why would you do that to your body, I'll never understand. Click Here

He was also at least four inches shorter than Paul Eddington (reported to be 6'2, but in "Yes,Minister" looked more like 6'1).

In that show "The Good Life", he looks about the same height as Penelope Keith, who might've been around 5'9. Still, she was always wearing heels in that show.

I last saw him around 1999, Sloane Square tube, he had a slight stoop but might have stood five - eight.
