Mackenzie Crook's site has his height at 1.72m. In the Office he clearly has a couple of inches on Gervais therefore Gervais is 1.67m or 1.68m. Benny says on 10/Jan/08

Saw the Ricky Gervias biography in the book store so I had a quick browse. There are a couple of photos from his younger days, he was once in a boy band which apparently didn’t have much commercial success but Ricky was a lot thinner and looked like a totally different person. He looks quite short in The Office and he is, plus he has a slouch that makes him appear 5'7 with shoes but 171 barefoot seems very exact.

I'm a big fan of the British version of The Office and he's always looked shorter than this to me. Stephen Merchent has described himself as 6 ft 7 and looks over a foot taller than Gervais.
Also, when Gervais was on the daily show he looked exactly the same height as Stewart who you have listed at 5'6.5". You can see the clip here Click Here
Finally, I agree with the poster below that Gervais may have taken to wearing bigger heals. If you watch series one of the office you'll notice that he and Martin Freemen seem to be the exact same height (especially apparent at the end of episode five when they're leaving the club). And in series two Patrick Baladi, who plays his new boss Neil, looks significantly taller. Yet in the Christmas special Gervais looks to be an inch taller than Freemen and doesn't appear as short next to Patrick Baladi as he did previously (especially noticable in the group photo at the very end of the special).
Considering all this I'd say he's much closer to 5'6".

Ben Stiller is 5'6 max, I thought this site covered that pretty well. But regardless, Gervais is not shorter than Stiller. Gervais has verified many times, in his radio show and whatnot, that he's 5'8. Comparing him to all the other celebrities and whatnot that he's stood next to, I believe it. Plus, at the very end of The Office when the gang is getting their picture taken, he's standing next to the character Tim, who CAN'T be shorter than 5'6 (I think he's 5'8), and Brent looked a couple inches taller than him.
Gervais isn't the kind of guy who'd give a damn about his height, and he wouldn't lie about it, multiple times. He says he's 5'8, so he's 5'8. starky says on 21/Dec/05
Gervais is shorter than Ben Stiller in extras... so if Stiller is 5ft 8, Gervais would be nearer the 5ft 6 range

Gervais says he's 173 cm but that's probably with his shoes on. A lot of short people give their height when they're wearing shoes to save face. i'd say he's about 171 cm max as he is about the same height as Freeman. At least U can see from the second pic that Ewan ain't 5'10.25''. One might say that he is slouching, but Gervais isn't standing tall either. Every pic of Martin Freeman shows that he is exactly 170 cm and I am pretty damn sure that so is Gervais. Sometimes in the Office Gervais appears taller than Freeman 'cause David Brent is such a cheeky bastard character who stands tall all the time...My estimation is that Martin Freeman is 5'6.5'', Ricky Gervais 5'7'' and Ewan McGregor 5'8.5''. |
