Oh my,if not for this thread i wouldve not known Mr.Dantes has already passed away.Ive always wondered what hes been up to lately. This is sad. He was an Icon in both the Martial Arts World & to the Local Filipinos, although he hardly spent time in the Philippines coz he was always travelling the globe spreading the Art of Arnis. I think i have a clipping of him in the 70's where he was listed as 5'11 but then he got into a accident & fell of a horse.Much like Chris Reeve, it was said Roland was paralyzed & would never walk again. With sheer willpower he fought through the trials, used his extensive knowledge in Bodybuilding & fought his way back & was able to walk. In 1980 he was 5th at Mr. World. i have a alot of clippings since my father was an avid fan of him. Condolences to the Family mark malik says on 30/Dec/10
I always appreciate bodybuilding, especialy during the old days and the natural way of building muscles.mr.rolando dantes was infact one of the great`s bodybuilder 60"s and 70"s who made a name for themselves in their career.this photo right here reminds me of a legend that ones remembered and never forgoten after all those years that his been an icon and well known for achivement of his great physique and as an martial artist.im really heartbroken when I knew that he`d already past away.theres nothing more to prove for him.he`d already did. |
