he did an interview with Ryan Seacrest (who's supposedly 5'7.75") and looked slightly taller, although they were at a weird angle in relation to the camera. Then 5'8" Zac Efron came over and looked shorter than Seacrest, but stood next to Sam and looked almost the same.

Guys it clear he is packing lifts inside his boots look at the way he is leaning forward from his ankle. Overall I think he is getting atleast a 3 inch boost with those boots and inside lifts. i'd say 5'9". Stood really close to him.
Again I should stress the point that he wasn't standing up as if he was being measured but neither was I. I instinctively stood upright when I saw him, to his relaxed pose. If he stood to attention he'd be 5'9". Unlike so many diminutive actors he doesn't try and justify his height by leaning back, sticking his chin up etc. Matt LeBlanc is terrible for doing this.
I also own a pair of the boots he wears. Timberland tackheads. Just so ya know they give you a 1.6" boost from bare foot. Md says on 27/Jan/10

Everyone keeps commenting on those boots he wore for the Terminator events --- I think those are Oakely boots. Oakley made a civilian pair of military Seal boots for the movie (which is what Bale is wearing in the movie, and maybe even Sam, but not sure on that). Perhaps those boots are just a tie-in for the movie. Besides, since he took off his shoes for the Jay Leno Show, I doubt he gives a rats a$$ about his height. Sam says on 17/Jan/10

Leung, in my opinion he is wearing lifts at the recent Avatar premiere which is why he can come across as near 5'10" in some pictures. But a while back he was wearing boots and he was still 5 inches shorter than James Cameron. Click Here
Even if he doesn't have lifts there, he'd still likely have a half inch advantage over Cameron's dress shoes that puts him at 5'8.5" rather than 5'9". Same thing at the Terminator premiere when he was atleast 3 inches shorter than Bale despite again having boots compared to Bale's dress shoes.
To me 5'8.5" makes more sense and he can look 5'9" when he has his boots compared to dress shoes and when he has them stuffed he can come across as 5'9.5"-5'10". In my opinion he is a likely candidate for lifts, afterall he is getting a lot of action roles and he's always wearing boots, even when they don't match his suit. Leung says on 11/Jan/10
I agree those fugly boots are awful especially worn at red carpet events with suit, but I don't believe he gets much height advantage over regular shoes unless he has secretly got them stuffed. Yep. It's clear that he's not over 5'9", but also isn't as short as 5'7". He's looks to be about an inch taller than 5'7.5" Giovanni Ribisi, that is, if Ribisi is a full 5'7.5", and I don't think he is. I'm beginning to think that Worthington, then, is probably about 5'8". His height is hard to estimate. 6'2 Cameron appears to have 4 inches in premiere photos, but so does 6'0 Bale. On Conan, Andy Richter looked maybe 3-3.5 inches taller next to him. Appears 5'9-5'10.....
But then he looks slightly shorter than 5'9 Yelchin, slightly taller than 5'7.5 Ribisi, and in Terminator about 1 inch taller than Moon Bloodgood (who stated she is 5'8). And his boots def give more than regular shoes, but probably not over 1.5 inches, and he's a simple laid back guy who doesn't seem to care too much about appearances so I highly doubt he uses lifts. So maybe 5'8.5??? He just doesn't look short to me, though (I'm 5 ft 8.25 and I look really short). I think he needs to do a movie with someone who we know for sure is 5'8 so we can see if he's noticeably taller. hadassah says on 9/Jan/10

rob im curious to know what you think is the height difference between sam and anton yelchin. no doubt you have seen the premier pics from T4 where there are some shots that makes them look very similar in height and there are some which indicate yelchin is taller by an inch or so. there is also the issue of footware but i dont think worthington's boots are getting that much over yelchin's dress shoes, probably 0.5 of an inch max.

In my opinion it appears like he was passing for a weak 5'10" in boots with lifts. I'm really suspicious of him wearing boots so often, especially the style of boots he wears at premieres rather than dress boots. He never looks more than a weak 5'10" at best and can look shorter even with the boots like a flat 5'9" so it wouldn't surprise me if he was shorter than 5'9". Maybe 5'8"-5'8.5"? Saw him on Jay Leno and he looked maybe 2 inches shorter than Jay Leno. He did the race car thing and took off his shoes and he did seem to be 5'9 next to 5'11 Leno. The more I see of him, the more and more I'm convinced that he's not even 5'9", and more likely somewhere in between 5'8" and 5'9". He just looks short. I think he may look average to tall to some because he's got a relatively well proportioned face which may draw people to that, first. Also, maybe because he's not too bulky nor too thin he comes across as average, and they forget to think about his height. But, he really just doesn't look average almost all of the time.

In the pics of the Japanese premiere of avatar his boots are monster but he looks atleast a solid 5'11 compared to saldana and weaver.

At least 2 inches, i'd say 3 inches (look his ankle). So even if he is between 5'11 and 6' WITH his monster (if saldana is 5'6.5 she is above 5'11 with her massive heels), 5'9.5 flat seems the absolute max we can buy.
