I really think sammo hung is 168cm no more no less. I am super Obsessed With Height and always observe people in real life. He is definitely not a legit 170cm. Looks like a female I know in real life who is a solid 168cm. So many people lie about height nowadays that hardly anyone knows how a true 170cm looks like anymore.

Samo hung looked shorter than Bruce Lee in opening scene of ETD. Maybe an inch or so. I've seen the film 50 times.
In yip man 2 Samo and Donnie yen look identical in height.
5ft 6.5 has to be about right.

I think 169.5 cm is fair. Sammo carries a lot of weight and have been through so many injuries, I don't think he could ever stand straight to get above 170 cm.
Here's Sammo with his oldest son Timmy. Timmy is around 183 cm with much less girth.

Mr. Wong's height recently is around 5'7.25. Given that he's in his late 60's, he might be approximately 5'8 during his younger years.
Sammo and Carter were in the same chinese flat shoes and sometimes bare feet for most of the movie (Hapkido), my guess for Sammo would be 5'6 at his peak and now he's around 5'5.75, slightly shorter than the 5'6 Donnie Yen (yip man)
I'm Asian American and I watched a lot of these guys growing up, so these are my best guesses for them. :)

Sammo Hung and Carter Wong in the movie "HAPKIDO - LADY KUNG FU". If you look at more pictures on google or watch the movie yourself, you can see that Carter has quite a large fraction on Sammo, approximately 1.5- 2 inches.

@Rob, can you add a photo and squeeze in Winners and Sinners? I think you need to tweak to G height too. I think a full 170 is a tad high. 169cm IMO.

Rob can you add "and director", he's directed a fair few as well as starred. I hadn't realized you had an entry on him. I'm quite fan of the old-school Hong Kong movies. He appeared in some fun films. I always guessed him at 5'6.5-5'7".

Samo looks one inch taller than Maggie Q, so I think he's 5'6ish, maybe taller when he's young.
Andy Lau, according to this site, is 5'8.5", so Samo does look 5'6.

Click Here This person claims to have used a reliable source, and I believe them. Usually, the lowest height listed is the MAXIMUM height you should accept. In the start of ETD, Sammo and Bruce look the same height to me. So I guess bruce was 5'6, too.
