I think people shouldn't be considered "tall" or "really tall" unless they're over 6'0... for males OR females...
I disagree with the males OR females point because most men are naturally taller than females. Who decides that you are "tall" oder "not tall" anyway? Other people and their statistics of population? 5'8" isn't really tall. It's above average obviously. Really tall would be like 6'0. I think people shouldn't be considered "tall" or "really tall" unless they're over 6'0... for males OR females...

I met her awhile back, and I must say I was amazed @ how beautiful she is, even without makeup. As for her height, she likes her boots really high and with platform, which makes it difficult to calculate. Anywayz if she'd been 5ft 8 she would've looked really huge on that kind of heels, i know for sure cuz my sister is 5'8 and she looks enormous when she wears high ones (I'm only 5'3). between 5'6 and 5'7 when i met her, not an inch above that. I'm 5'8 myself and she looked my size, but i was wearing thong sandals and she was wearing heels, not that high kind of heel, but heels in the end. Glenn, she's clearly taller than you are there, and you're 5'8" so why do you think she's shorter? You said you don't recall if she was wearing heels. She looks like she's dressed rather casually, so I would guess that she's probably wearing low-heeled shoes.

I believe that Shirley is indeed 5'8" and with good reason: most female singers' vocal ranges are in *direct* relation to their respective heights....as a singer myself, at 5'6", with a low range, of the female artists' songs i can sing well in the same key as the original material, the singer is ALWAYS as tall or taller than i am - there aren't that many tall female singers out there - but Shirley is one of them, and she has an *extremely* low range! By the makeup and hair, I can tell this photo of Shirley was fairly recent, correct? During the Bleed Like Me tour she didn't wear very large heels, just chunky heels and lots of weird sneaker things...

How high were her heels? Contrary to what many people think, 2 inch heels (for example) do not make you 2 inches taller, cuz heels slant; they make you maybe 1.25 inches taller usually (it depends on the heel).
So Glenn, if you are 5'8 then she is probably 5'7 cuz she appears about 2 inches taller than you here with heels. Unless she had 4+ inch heels on she is probably only an inch shorter than you. Glenn says on 8/Nov/06

I saw her live, very close to the stage, opening for No Doubt & when she stood on stage next to Gwen she appeared only slightly shorter. Gwen is supposedly 5'6 & had almost 3" high heels on & Shirley was flat foot in converse, & so I would estimate Shirley to be about 5'7. In some past interviews I think she has said she was 5'7...so I dont know why she is suddenly saying she is 5'8. It's impossible that Shirley is 5'8''. I met her backstage in a concert. I was wearing flats (1/3'') and it was one of the few times she wasn't wearing such big heels. She was wearing thong sandals (about 1.5 inches), and in ALL the pictures both me and my cousin look clearly taller than her, (I'm 5'8.5'' and my cousin is 5'10''). She is closer to 5'5'', maybe 5'6'' at most.

Shirley is realistically closer to 5'7" than 5'8". She lives in thick heel so that gives the impression that she very well could be 5'8", but very unlikely. |
