Editor RobI realised I never had a quote directly from him, but indeed he claimed 5ft 7 and 145 pounds in the 80's.
Also at the time Susie Bono said "I'm 5'6 and 108 lbs. I always lied when I was modelling and said I was 5'7"

I saw Sonny and Cher perform on stage in the 1970’s. I was watching them from the side stage just a few feet away. Sonny looked to be several inches taller than Cher, who was standing next to him. She was wearing heels. They were both standing side by side on a flat floor with no elevation. I was surprised to see that he was taller in person. He was not wearing heels.

5'5" sounds right - I'm sure Cher would have known - but with those FiFabrizio elevator boots, He'd have been at least 5'7.5", possibly 172 cm, so he'd look like a strong 5'6" to weak 5'7" guy during his heyday.

Sonny, to me, is a confusing guy. I used to think around 5'8", but that was when I thought Cher was taller. Now, I hear all sorts of heights for Cher, all the way down to 5'4" but much higher, of course... So, hard to tell with women who almost always wear heels of some kind. So, hard to compare Sonny next to Cher. Of course, Sonny's heyday - the 60's and 70's, I'm sure he wore platforms, etc. etc...
