Sven was only about 6'3 1/2 he was not even in the same height range as davidson who was 6'8. Ben is standing about a good foot further away from the camera in that pic and is leaning in and still looks a few inches taller. If you watch conan you can see that ben is a tall lean guy and sven is a 4+ inch shorter stocky guy Reconnum124 says on 20/Dec/07

Ben davidson aint standing straight here, but that aside... and camera work aside (as in the feature).... theres NOT 4 inches here.
Granted we cannot see footwear etc, but this and many other offset pics i have seen suggest they were much closer to the same height than the scenes in the movie made you think.... after this i must say sven was 6'5 at this time. Dave says on 7/Oct/07

Certainly a genuine 6'5 back in the day, maybe an inch or so shorter now.
And in conan, observe that the camera angle almost always favours ben davidson, i have the directors commentary edition, and arnold clearly says "yeah, sven is a tree... i think hes 6'6" (slight exaggeration but we get the picture), also the director (forget his name, and he seems very truthful about many things in the movie, where arnie exaggerates, he says; "those guys were HUGE!, i mean, im an easy 6'2, and those guys were walking around barefoot because of the heat, and they towered over everyone!, ben is about 6'8, and sven about 6'5"
so i think back in the running man and conan days this man was 6'5, but i have no doubt that due to his build and lifting, that hes a good inch shorter these days. Halb says on 20/Feb/07
I would say that The Runnign Man is a good film to judge his height, he stands next to both AhNold and Jesse.

Balrog is off. In The Viking Sagas he had a lot more scenes with Ralph Moeller as they were allies. He looked a little shorter than Ralf. 6'5" is possible but i'll wager 6'4". Balrog says on 12/Oct/06
I wouldn't underestimate his height as 6'5". That guy looks like a giant. I watched Gladiator and there he seemed taller than the 6'6" tall Ralf Moeller. 6'6"-6'8" or even is Thorsen's real height. 6'6" at least. Chris says on 17/Aug/06
I watched Gladiator and there Sven-Ole Thorsen looked like a 7 feet tall giant. I estimated him as 7 feet. Then I've heard, that he is only 6' 5" like me. My height is about 6' 5.5" Babyboomer says on 6/Apr/06
Watched "Conan the Barbarian" two days ago. Thorsen looks more than 3" shorter than 6'8" Davidson. Looks like about 4.5 to 5" to me. He's at Davidson's eye level. That would make him 6'3" or 6'3.5". Watch that movie & see what you think. Jason says on 27/Mar/06
I think 6'3 1/2'' sounds right. In Conan the Barbarian Sven plays one of Thulsa Doom's (James Earl Jones) two henchmen. Now, the other henchman was played by former NFL footballer Ben Davidson who we have a measured height for at 6'8'' - Click Here . Sven and Ben were always together and Ben loomed above him. The guy is really huge, also with a massive built, as you can see in Conan the barbarian.

Yeah, Sven has been in 12 Arnold Schwarzenegger-movies (15 if you also count stunts) to date. And yes, he's taller than both Arnold and Jesse Ventura. By the way, he's not in 'Troy', but does have tiny cameos (with covered face) in 'Hidalgo'(2004) and 'Hostage' (2005). This actor has been in the most Schwarzenegger movies. If he's 6'5 that would make Arnold around 6'1" - 6'2". Sven does look a solid 6'5' & no less than 6'4". In the movie 'The Running Man' he stands right next to Arnold & Jesse Ventura & appears to be an inch taller than Ventura. |
