Wladimir Klitschko with Dirk Elbers. I found out Elbers is 6ft5.5 (197cm) tall. Klitschko looks a bit shorter than him. Eddie Chambers is everywhere listed at 6ft1 but he doesn't look it.

There is no way Klitschko is under 6'7"; in fact, he is around 6'8". There is enough photo's with celebrities, and 6'3"+ opponents that it's easy to make an assessment. I've already posted pics of him with 6'10" Odom, 6'6"ish McCline, and on google you can see him towering dozens of other tall guys of known height. The 6'6.5" and 6'5" listings for the Brothers are off due to most likely a miscalculation with the imperial system. It's obvious to anyone Wlad is WELL above 6'5" so that kind of discredits that source right there. He is listed 6'7.5" on Boxrec and is known widely to be 6'8".

Saw Vitali a few years ago at Dodger Stadium. I stood by him as he got out of his car. He is between 6-6 and 6-7. Somewhere there is a pic of him with the other celebrities who carried The Olympic Torch that day. Vitali puts Tom Cruise to shame!

Yes, Martin, Willard stood 6'6.5", and Carnera was listed at either 6'5.5" or 6'6". But those champions were at 6'6", not over it (Unless you round Willard's listing up, but I don't see that as correct).

Anyway, if Vitali said he was 6'6.5" on his website, I trust him. But I don't see how a guy that tall could be any less, even at night barefoot.
Martin says on 8/Nov/09
Re Brian: Actually, Jess Willard was 6'6.5 back in 1910 when he was champ. Primo Carnera stood 6'6 if I remember correctly aswell and he boxed around 1920 or so. But ye, I also think that the best heavyweight height is around 6'2" - 6'3".

On topic now.. I do not know if it is mentioned, but according to their own website Vitali is 6'6.5 and Wladimir 6'5".

Good points, Sprint84. Speaking of Arreola, he is listed at 6'4" by pretty much everywhere, but I kind of doubt it:

If Arreola is 6'4", than Klitschko would have to be more like 6'9"-6'10".

Interestingly enough, I was reading an article of the top 100 newcomer heavyweight prospects, and I noticed:
"7. Chris Arreola
YOB: 1981
Country: USA
H-W: 6.1-230"

Not sure where this listing came from, but it must have been from somewhere, so why did the Arreola height listing suddenly jump by 3 inches?

A 6'1"-6'2" Arreola would put Klischko at an accurate 6'7".

My dad met him not so long ago and took a picture with him. My dads 5'9.5 (177cm), Vitali was exactly one head taller than him.

I think this is dead on.

When Vitali first hit the big scene, it was in his fight against Lennox Lewis. There was an obvious two inch difference between them and Lennox is near the 6'5" mark.
Fredrik Farhadian says on 30/Sep/09
In Germany/Europe Vitali has most often been listed at 202 cm (roughly 6'7,5). Indeed, earlier in his career, before fights in Germany MC´s always presented him as standing "zwo meter zwo".

As for Wladimir, I´d say he´s 200 cm, spot on! I.e. a fraction under 6'7.

I met both brothers in Hamburg 2002 and I do find these figures plausible.

As earlier stated in this column, both Klitschkos routinely tower over adversaries billed as anything from 6'4 to 6'6.
sprint84 says on 29/Sep/09
The Klitschkos and Lewis are anomalies -- tall, smart boxers with good jabs and 1-2s. Brian, I think 6'3" is still a perfect height for a SKILLED heavyweight. The problem now is that most of the guys around that height (including Chris Arreola, whom Klitschko just destroyed) are unskilled, and undisciplined, and simply don't have what it takes to be world champs.

In regards to Klitschko's height...if Arreola is the 6'3.5" he claims (not sure he is), then Klitschko is at least 6'8".
Brian says on 28/Sep/09
Man, I always thought the perfect height for a heavyweight was 6'2"-6'3", so why are our champions nowadays 6'7" and 7'0"? We didn't even HAVE a champion over 6'6" until the 90s if memory serves. Obviously, the heavyweight division is nowhere near what it used to be, but why are the giant-sized fighters excelling of late?

This does not mean that Klitschko is a legit 6’7” though, as we can’t see the stances.

---

Odom has 2 - 2.5" on Vitali. They are both standing erect so, yes, we can see their stances. Vitali is obviously in training here so he would be wearing boxing shoes which give little to no height boost. Considering Lamar is in street clothes, he will most likely have a footwear advantage as well.

Vitali is minimum 6'7.5". I think this is quite clear now. Use any pre-fight presser photos as evidence if you really think he isn't EVEN 6'7".

Lamar Odom wants to play the small forward position (and sometimes point guard), which may be why his listed height could be his barefoot height.
Here’s Odom with ~ 6’5” Kobe Bryant.

Corey Maggette (to his left) supposedly measured 6'6" barefoot.
This link gives a barefoot height of 6'10" for Odom though I'm not sure of the source: Click Here

Good find. I believe Odom is a legit 6'10" barefoot even though that is his NBA-listed height. He has 5 inches on Kobe Bryant. IMO the difference between Odom and Vitali would be around 3 inches if Odom raised his head.

i have seen a few people say on forums odom was listed at 6'9 when he started in the nba and in recent years that was upgraded, haven't been able to find evidence so far though
filmfan says on 16/Sep/09
Vitali looks about 2 inches shorter than that NBA star. He must be at least 6'7'' possibly close to 6'8''. He looked taller by a couple of inches than Lennox Lewis when they fought and Lewis is 6'5''.

here is david Haye and Wlad, vitali's younger brother. David Haye is listed at 6'3 everywhere.

I will buy 6'7.5" barefoot for Vitali but anything under that is not accurate. He has towered over guys that are 6'4" throughout his career in a way 6'7" flat doesn't... and i'm over 6'5" myself so I have a good perspective on this.

Vegas good call on Julius long.

Derek, not all boxers heights are inflated. You can find different measurements for them across different sites; I have seen 6'5" to 6'9" for Vitali, for instance. Generally Boxrec, a boxing database, is close to the truth. They have Vitali at 6'7.5".

Again, here is Vitali and 6'6" listed Jameel McCline. I would say he is closer to 6'5" barefoot, however Vitali has OVER 3" on him.

Odom is probably 6'9", so Vitali at 6'7" makes sense. Boxers' heights are often inflated. Mike Tyson was listed at 5'11" for years and he's nothing over 5'10". Evander Holyfield was listed at 6'2" and he's more 6'0"-6'1".
TheMan says on 9/Sep/09
Yeah this is about right to me not quite as tall as the 6,8 Ive been hearing. He's brother though i thought he was at least 6,6 he towered over David Haye who i thought was 6,3 he was about 4 inches taller. Unless Haye is only 6,2.

Both Vitali and Wladimir underbill themselves. I'm not sure why unless maybe it's a miscalculation through to the imperial system or not (they are used to metric), or possibly never thoroughly caring about it. Wlad refers to himself as 6'5"... and Vitali says 6'7". Here is Vitali with 6'10" NBA star Lamar Odom.

Vitali looks to be 2" shorter, putting him right at 6'8". Also when face to face with 6'6" Jameel McCline Vitali had a SOLID 3" on him. With 6'7.5" billed Timo Hoffman when they posed together Vitali was at least an inch taller. He towers over all of his 6'4"ish heavyweight opponents much more than 3", barefoot, and in footwear. All signs point to 6'8" barefoot for Vitali.

As for Wlad, I would put him at 6'6.75" to 6'7". He had the very much LEGIT 6'5" Tony Thompson by nearly 3" in pre-fight presser photos. He never looks much more than 1" shorter than Vitali either. And as with Vitali, he towers over the "average sized" 6'2"-6'4" Heavyweights; take your pick of any of them. Also Wlad recently appeared on Conan and had SIGNIFICANT height over the 6'4"ish Conan... it looked at least 3". Conan then commented on "You're a very LARGE man... how tall are you?" Wlad said 6'5"... well that was on BIG BIG inch between them.

Vitali 6'8"
Wladimir 6'7"

other giants of the ring:
Julius Long 7'1"
Nicolai Valuev 7'0" (possibly as low as 6'11")
Tyson Fury 6'9"
Tye Fields 6'8"
