Editor Rob it's never to late to start a simple height reduction routine.
Just as simple as doing ceiling touch and toe touch moves a couple of times a day, keeping active and walking more, ensuring a good variety of food so your body is getting enough minerals as you age.
Inactivity, poor diet, lack of exercise might make you lose height faster once over 60.

The right side of this photo looks to be gaining photographic favour as I wasn't dropping much height and you can see With David and the same photographer that weekend, I switched sides, dropped more height and am standing a couple of inches further back (photographer is 5ft 2 range).

Editor Rob he was still 6ft 1 range then, today I think probably another fraction lost.
Lots of factors effect height difference, sometimes even your own eyes can interpret height differently, depending how close or far the person is away.

Did anyone feel as shocked as I did at the state of William's character's appearance in the brand new, and very welcome 'X Files' series shown on TV this year?
He's an excellent deterrent for smokers! I don't know whether I picked this up from an 'X Files' fan or from the TV, but I did used to think he was also called 'Cancer Man', and that prediction was certainly not an unfounded one!

Editor Rob I think to have lost another fraction in 3-4 years at his age is likely, but posture as well in 70's can sometimes make elderly chaps appear shorter than they measure, although not always the case.
Especially if they have upper spinal curvature, they look like they have looser posture but in fact it is degradation of the discs.

Not that rare to see old folks this tall, Larc (and the other guy was joking). You just figure it would be, seeing as the average height has increased... But there have always been tons of 6'2"+ guys walking the streets. My grandpa on my mom's side will be 80 next month, and he stands 6'3" now (as tall as me). Says he used to feel kind of tall around normal people but knew a lot of guys his height. My other grandad is 6'1" now and only thought of himself as tall when he was an early bloomer.

Maybe because they are all dead because shorter people seem to live longer or there were not many people over 6'2 70 years ago. anyway i would think the healthiest height to be is between 5'-6'1. i wonder what happens to these basketball players when they get old. some of those guys are 6'8-6'11!

Rob, is it true that tall men generally lose more height aging than average or shorter men? What did you experience in that matter?
Editor Rob I think the longer your spine the more chance you would lose more height, it would be more noticeable.

Looked 2 inches taller than David Duchovny on the X-Files and about an inch taller than Mitch Pileggi, wonder if he lost an inch since the 90s?

Definitely around 6'2, at least during the run of the X-Files. He was clearly a couple of inches taller than both Duchovny & Mitch Pileggi back then, but maybe he's shorter today? He's over 70 so it's definitely possible, even likely, that he's shrunk. I see Rob has his current height listed as 6'1 as well.
6'2.5 just might be correct for his peak height too, as a young man. After all, when the X-files was being filmed between 1993-2002, he was already in his 50s/60s by then, so maybe he had already shrunk by that time and was down to 6'2 flat? That's what i think anyway.

Sorry but he is really taller than Mitch Pileggi; This man is visibly tall despite his bias to slouch a bit; I am sure he is 6'2.5.
Always towering people around but for Tom Welling who is noticebly taller though they try to mask it.
