@Canson:

If I could choose any height, I think I'd go for a solid 6'4.5, 194.3cm at a low. Not that I'm way taller than that right now, but I think it's slightly less freakish than 6'5 range though still very strong 6'4 and undeniably very tall.

Hey Rob just ask you strange question that sometimes I feel very tall and sometimes I feel short why is that happened and second question is how tall is big iona now
Editor Rob
I posted a video of Her height, that video was taken just over 2 weeks ago.

Yeah, I think there are emotions an situations which influence how you feel about yourself, including your height - outside influences and 'height filters' might come into play. What I mean is, you can filter out taller or shorter people in public more than usual, so you might feel tall/short .
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 28/Mar/19
@cmillzz
That's probably because you live in an area where the average's around 5'10". Places around Wisconsin's pretty tall. Even then, you'll occasionally see crowds or groups of people who are taller than average, and at times shorter than average. It's just coincidental. I live an area where the average is only 5'8" range, but there were a few instances where the average felt as tall as 5'11".

@Cmillzz:

Well, Iโ€™d argue that growth stopping at 14 is just as rare, if not more so than growth stopping at 21-22.
Jdubbz said on 28/Mar/19
@Myself

Itโ€™s funny you mention that, the last quarter inch to 3/8 inch of growth seems to have been in my torso! My inseam increased half an inch from 6โ€™4.25 to 6โ€™4.75, but didnโ€™t grow at all from 6โ€™4.75 to 6โ€™5 1/8. Hopefully that means I just have another eight or quarter inch of growth and stop at 6โ€™5.25 - 6โ€™5 3/8.Are you over 193 now?

@cmillzz

I'm actually a rare exception to that rule as I grew even after 18. I remember being measured sometime in the mid-afternoon with the measuring tape by a nurse, for some odd reason and I say oddly because it was a dentist building, so anyway, I was measured at bang on 5'9, at I would say, between 4-5 PM, so let's say 4:30 PM, but could have later than that. When I finally took matters into my hands at measuring my own height, it was at 21 years old and it was in the evening, around 10 PM. I didn't know about variations of height throughout the day yet, I heard that it was expected to lose half an inch from morning to evening but that was about it, and I didn't know that reclining could recover some of the loss, so, with that said. I tracked down some videos on YouTube, which is how I found out about Rob and CelebHeights. I used the aerosol can method as instructed and ended up measuring myself bang at 5'10 with back against the wall, feet together and head at the Frankfurt plane. I remember I couldn't believe the measurement, all that time I thought I was maybe in that 5'11-6'0 zone, but I checked and remeasured my height at least three different times and I produced the same measurement: 70 inches on the tape measurement. No gimmicks either. So, that's been my experience on growth after 18, but again, I'm the rare exception to that rule.

It's already been 10 years since you met G for the Big Grapple.Do you have any news of him?And do you think you can forgive him if ever he was wishing to come back to celebheights?
Editor Rob

No doors are ever shut, but he was in an untenable position - couldn't accept he's really 5ft 7 (well ok, a bit under but let's round him to 5ft 7).

I don't know what he's doing these days, I'm sure he still managed to meet a few more thousand people over last 10 years.

Big Rob, i gotta tell you, i'm heavily obsessed with this site. I have downloaded an app to block certain sites on my phone, put this one on it as well, but i felt lost without this site. Seriously, my insecurities are too big.
Editor Rob
Well, I do think an app or chrome/firefox extension to block sites is useful if you really want to stop visiting something and need a bit of a push or help.

I have used such extensions in the past, although I'd never block celebheights of course!
Lell said on 28/Mar/19
@cmillzz
Yeah, growth can definitly happen in your 20s. Some stop completely at 12 while others suddenly get a spurt at 24.
Some sites say you stop at 16, others at 18 or even 25.
Everybody says different things, so it's really unpredictable. I grew taller even though I was an early bloomer with facial hair.
Canson said on 27/Mar/19
@Jdubbz: if that were me I wouldnโ€™t want to go beyond a solid 6โ€™5. I guess something like 195.7 or 195.8 isnโ€™t much different but for sure not above Christianโ€™s height. But in the end we canโ€™t control it. But I do agree with what both you and Christian said because 6โ€™5โ€ is a bit too tall. A solid 6โ€™5โ€ is manageable height as is Christianโ€™s but he said it well in that a guy who is 6โ€™2โ€ has all the same benefits of a 6โ€™5โ€ guy but less headaches in the process. I think once youโ€™ve reached something like 6โ€™2-6โ€™3 itโ€™s plenty. If I could choose, I would knock a CM off and just be 6โ€™3.75-6โ€™4 at a low maybe 6โ€™3 7/8 as it still would constitute 6โ€™4โ€ for me and it would keep me right at or below 6โ€™5โ€ even in sneaks. The 1/4โ€ over 6โ€™4 is a pain in that in some of the thicker sneaks I look over 6โ€™4โ€ and when I claim 6โ€™4โ€ it is questioned. I still claim it though and say 6โ€™4.25 a lot

@ Sandy Cowell - It was so wonderful for my Mum and I to meet you and Jim on Saturday, the whole day was an amazing experience from start to finish! The day started when you rang me up at 5:00 am to find out exactly where we live, I heard Jim singing in the car and this was amazing! It was fantastic when you both arrived at our house ready for the fun to commence, we had plenty to laugh about!
I found it very funny that after having a few beers with Jim you broke wind in Sainsbury's and then collapsed on the floor laughing, roll on supermarket floor laughing supremely loudly! There is nothing like laughing ones self silly (particularly on floors!) and it was also very amusing to hear about Jim's Great Dane Drum spraying all up the wall after he had farted, furthermore it was amusing that Drum then looked round in shock from then on whenever he heard a fart noise!
I am so pleased that you also had the magical experience of meeting Nigel Farage on Saturday, it is great that he was friendly and that you both took great delight in introducing yourselves to each other and having a chat with each other! If you just meet one celebrity in your whole life you will be left with so many lasting memories, you just don't know if or when you will meet celebrities in the future! Things like this DO happen to you now! It's so interesting that Jim has met Vincent Price and all of the Royals whilst he was in the army, I certainly know that he has met the Queen! I know she rather warmed to him!
We both sent a few comments to celebheights when we were all together, it was great to write out some comments and then see each other sending them on our phones, doing this added even more to such a great day! Wasn't it great that my celebheights T-shirt arrived the very same day that you and Jim visited us? You brought your celebheights T-shirt with you and we both had the pleasure of wearing them at the same time!
Another great thing about Saturday was that my Mum gave us such wonderful food to eat! I know you had a salad and that you thought it was one of the best meals that you had had in a long time! We all had such enjoyable and healthy food!
We were all comfortable and we sat about a lot and stood up a lot, we all talked to each other a lot about interesting things and we had a barrel of laughs, the time just flew by and at times faster than we would have liked!
It was a wrench when you both left at about 5pm but the good thing is that there are always new adventures to look forward to and there will be another one in May for the four of us to look forward to! I too have to congratulate Jim on driving over 500 miles in one day, this was a very good effort and one that I admire massively!

Cheers Sandy!

I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve ever met anyone who grew in their 20s. The vast majority are done by 18. Hell I know lots of guys who stopped by 14 like Rob. I was a late bloomer myself and I stopped at around 18-19.
cmillzz said on 27/Mar/19
Rob, from what I can tell you never do drop below 5โ€™8 1/8โ€ regardless of how physically active you are. If so, that would fit the definition of an โ€œextreme lowโ€. So on a regular, less stressful day, is it possible that your low is closer to 5โ€™8 1/4โ€, and thus fitting the definition of a โ€œnormal lowโ€? I know itโ€™s silly to even talk about because itโ€™s mere millimeters, but this is a height site after all, haha.
Editor Rob
A real extreme low of 5ft 8 might still be possible, I haven't exactly done a 2 hour football match or anything, but more physical work I have tested and just about hold to 5ft 8 1/8th at low.
I suppose our bodies can still go beyond usual low a few mm under real periods of intense activities.

I do not see it anywhere near 5'10" for me he looks more like 5'8.5", I would really guess about 174 cm for him. Rob, could you add him to your website?
Editor Rob
I remember he was asked about before...having looked at him I think around 5ft 8 is possible. It would be a lot closer than the 177cm on some sites!
Myself said on 27/Mar/19
@cmillzz
That's the same thing I asked him on YouTube comments haha
Everything is possible, aswell as just natural growth; even I seems like might have grown another 2-3 mm now (still to confirm though), at more than 21.5 yo, although my growth is not comparable to his.
The strange thing is that he claims that it's his legs that are growing (while arms are done); pretty unusual at that age! I believe my growth has occurred only in the torso the last 5+ years.
@Jdubbz
If your armspan is 197 cm it may mean that you could reach that height, but if you go over then I think there may be an issue (I would already feel alarmed, if I didn't want to grow more than 195-6).

@Canson:

Yeah the 198 measurement seems a little higher than usual, but it could be because I got 9 hours of sleep and slept very horizontally. A more conservative out of bed for me would be 197.8-9. I'm definitely in that upper 195 range at the moment. I think I'm going to stop measuring myself for a few months and see what happens, but I hope I don't go past Christian's height.
cmillzz said on 26/Mar/19
@Rob, yeah thatโ€™s one thing that strikes me as odd where I live; the amount of tall women I see everywhere. Theyโ€™re not wearing heels either, some of them wear thinner footwear than I do. And strangely, the tallest women I see tend to be middle age or older.

@ Andrea - Hi there! I have been watching the totally addictive 'Da Vinci Code' trilogy, and as you can imagine, there is a great deal of Italian spoken in that, but slowly, so I can recognise many of the words because they're so similar to French. It comes as a bonus that Tom Hanks's character, Robert Langdon, doesn't speak much Italian himself, so frequently the Italian is translated for him.

I must say, I do have great admiration for people who enjoy learning languages. If you don't enjoy it passionately, you aren't likely to get very far!

The only language we did at our school was French, and my Mother was disappointed about that. She taught my Dad German, so if ever I need a helping hand, I just ring him up. Bit by bit, I have been learning to spell German words and once I see them written down, they stick! I don't know whether I should be over presumptuous to say that it's in my blood, but I do enjoy the learning of new words from different languages. My Mum told me that we have 8 nationalities in us, whereas I thought it was a mere 3. Then in a hospital cafรฉ, when I said to my visitors that I have 3 nationalities, she said, "Oh no you don't - you have 8", thereafter reeling them off! I was staggered to say the least!

Yes, dialects are another aspect of languages, as are spellings. I can tell who is American on this website by their use of the letter 'z' instead of 's' for words like 'realise'. I must say that I prefer the 'z' spellings. The 's' ones aren't strictly correct, but that's what happens to languages over time. In Great Britain, there are so many give-away accents that you don't have to think too long and hard as to who is a northerner and who is a southerner.

As always, it's a pleasure to chat with you Andrea!

All the very best!

Rob, do you ever notice days where it seems as if the average is much higher than just 5โ€™9? I notice this a lot, especially when itโ€™s crowded. And for me, itโ€™s not just selective memory. It really does feel as if most guys are comfortably taller than 5โ€™9 whenever Iโ€™m in a crowded area. Statistically, this shouldnโ€™t be happening, but for some reason it does. Any reason why this occurs?

Bobby 5'10 (178cm) said on 25/Mar/19
@Jdubbz 196cm

I still fall to 5'9.75 at night, sometimes even 5'9.8 on account of drinking over 2 litres of water per day and sitting upright and being on feet, never reclining except at night, and is my posture has also improved. So I stand taller as a result. I'm typically as low as 180cm/5'11 in normal footwear. So, folks are gonna see me as a solid 5'10 guy no matter what time of day it is.

Hi Rob!

The garage pit stops took place as part of the journey my boyfriend and I made travelling up to Yorkshire - to meet Nik and his Mum. The loss of Nik's brother's dog is what kicked Jim into action, and meeting the two of them couldn't have been a nicer experience!

'Little Alverna', 4ft11, was wearing sandals, so I could look her almost straight in the face as I had no footwear on at all! Nik's blue Celebheights T-shirt arrived shortly after we arrived, and I had packed my pink one with some leggings just in case Nik's one arrived - AND IT DID, so we both sat there in our Celebheights T-shirts.

Jim made us laugh describing an incidence of flatulence 'committed' by his 15-stone harlequin Great Dane, Drum, who sprayed all up the wall, and thereafter, every time he heard a fart noise, he looked round in shock! Then Jim embarrassed me by telling the two about the time we were queueing up in Sainsbury's, and I broke wind so loudly after a few beers that I collapsed on the floor in a heap of laughter and merriment; the checkout girl must have thought her customer had vanished!

What a far cry from the respectable citizen I looked when I went over to Nigel Farage yesterday in the garage and talked about the school we had in common. He immediately said its name - and then asked me mine. It was a joy to meet Nigel. Things like that just don't happen to me! They happen to Jim, who has even met Vincent Price and all the Royals, while in the Army.

I've never known time to fly like it did yesterday - and Alverna's welcome was second to NONE that I have ever had. She made me a lovely salad sprinkled with grated cheese and there was tea on tap throughout our visit.

What a lovely day, and my final congratulations go out to boyfriend Jim who drove us all the way up there and back in a day. We left at 5am, arrived at 10am and left at 5pm, so we had 7 whole hours to laugh and joke, and Nik sent a couple of funny comments and I sent one, having done a few in the car on the way there.

So you see Rob! Your great Website has more uses than meet the eye! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Editor Rob
That's great you managed to meet up, sounds an interesting adventure, and I never realised Nik got a t-shirt too. Seeing Nigel sounded interesting, as he's one of the more well known political figures over the last few years!

Thanks for the support.

My brother is about 175/76 cm range, last time I saw him back in 2017 I was 176 cm and we were almost exactly the same height or I was even barely taller. I'm not sure how to measure accurately, but I stretch out my body and push up a cylinder with my head on the wall 'til I can barely feel it on my head. Doing this I get 181.5 cm afternoon. If I met him now, would I be noticeably taller?
Editor Rob
That's around 2 inches, so you should really feel taller, and he would notice the difference too.

I would class mine as being within the average range with 2-2.25 low, and 1 quite high.

I believe the UK ones from the health survey are pretty good, because they are done by health practitioners visiting people, so on average it will be mid-day heights, which gives about 5ft 9 for overall UK average without shoes.

I'd say any of the self-reported average heights could be off 1-3cm

Of course, but it's slightly more (near 1/4 inch) than the average 5ft 9 man would wake at.

I think you've got your stats slightly off. If your inseam is 33/33.25, then it's 46% range for 183 cm.

I'm probably three quarters of the way through it now. Working in a laundry indeed making green garments as a cover-up for all their misdoings! I can't see myself fully understanding it as well I might, because at the moment I'm at the 'familiar word spotting stage'! I'm sure it's strewn with humour which I'm missing out on as well, but given time...

I've noticed the DIRECT translations, sometimes into bad English, which I find very realistic. I've got more patience with foreign films than many, in fact, any of my British friends, because languages are if interest to me and how people live in other countries. I am, in short, a nosy old Cowell ๐Ÿฎ who is making the most of whatever time she has left on this planet!

The opening scenes gave me some idea of what it was going to be like. Not many men spend that much of their ill-gotten gains in a male-grooming centre - and then get assassinated! I think the Brits rely on visual stimulation more than anything else. How about you Andrea? You must have enormous patience to pick up and 'work' with foreign languages the way you do. My Mum left Germany with 5 languages under her belt and she swore that the teaching of languages in European countries is better than the lax teaching that goes on in this country!

Cheers Andrea! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

I'd say it was slightly long, around 45% range is more the average, so 47 range I'd class as longer than average.

What would be the true measure? In the moring, at midday or at night?
Editor Rob

It is a fact out of bed I'm 5ft 8.75 and a fact at my low I'm 5ft 8 1/8th.
We all have a height range that varies. So, each measurement is in essence a real snapshot of your height. Wouldn't it be a lot simpler if we didn't vary ๐Ÿ˜

Now for any medical, it is more common to be measured after being up a few hours - so all the average height studies are done with the fact people will have been up several hours. I think if you were to state a height after being up a few hours, that fits in with how other people who get measured might be stating theirs.
Bobby 178cm said on 17/Mar/19
Hey Rob, how long would a 6'0 tall guy's legs be on average? I don't mean their inseam but total leg length. Connor's a 6'0 guy but he told me his legs are between 33-34 inches long, while mine is 41 inches long. Do you think 41 inches is too long for a 5'10 guy?
Editor Rob
I never really looked at anything but inseam for legs...I don't think Connor has measured his outseam though, it's certainly not going to be 33-34!

Outseam leg measumrents are more tricky because what is the agreed point to measure? Nearly all people showing you videos of outseam or outside leg lengths are doing it when the pants are on of course...I did read one suggestion to go with 1 inch above the hip bone.

The measured average for US is 5'9.25", so that means the average isn't any taller than that. But the average varies based on the region of course. Where I live, it doesn't feel taller than 5'8.5". And you're right that the bar is set higher when it comes to tallness. This is merely anecdotal, but I have a 5'7" friend who considers himself to be short, even though he's only 2 inches below average. Then I have a 6'0.5" friend who only considers himself "tallish" even though he's 3.5" taller than average. They claim 5'8" and 6'1" respectively.

It looks a solid inch, depending on insole thickness, maybe 1.1-1.2 range is possible. Insoles vary from 1mm to several mm, it can make the difference from a solid 1 to a 1.25 shoe that looks like a 1 inch heel.

Whenever I'm estimating celebrities shoes I'm just going with the idea of a thin insole, unless I know the specific model of boot/shoe.

It depends on what you consider as "towering". It could be from 5-10 to 20 cm... maybe you are more referring to "dwarfing". Personally I don't think there is a country where even a 6'3 person wouldn't be considered as "towering", expecially if compared to the general population rather than in universities (and even there...). I doubt in the Netherlands the average is higher than 5'11, so even there 6'3 is a quite tall height with towering potential in certain situations.
I personally think the "towering" begins at like 9-10 cm advantage, expecially if the taller person has a not too low eyelevel. But often tall people are not used to seeing someone noticeably taller, so for them even as little as 5 cm would be enough to feel towered (my case probably).

I guess it depends what they mean by โ€œeveryone elseโ€. 6โ€™2 is tall enough to tower the vast majority of women, but obviously not men. To tower the entire population in general, Iโ€™d say 6โ€™5โ€ - 6โ€™6โ€ is where that begins, though 6โ€™7 is indeed heads and shoulders above a bunch of people.

Wow, that Greek model gave so many different answers to her height, but I thought she may have been 6'0 based off her proportions. The measuring seemed to be around the 5'11 mark though. I guess I wasn't that off, but she must have been like 6'3 with heels on. I don't think I saw that show when I was in Greece though. Still, that measurement isn't the most accurate. It's better to do it under a stadiometer or with the aerosol can method.
Lell said on 11/Mar/19
To me, a tall person is somebody who is head and shoulders above everybody else, which in my opinion starts at 6'2".
At 6'0" you are clearly above average, but I would not describe you as the tall guy if I would refer to you.
Jdubbz said on 11/Mar/19
@Bobby 178cm and Christian 6'5 3/8":

I think average in the US is more 5'9-5'10 than 5'8-5'9, though it is very area dependent. I consider 5'9.5 solid average, 5'8-5'9 weak average and 5'10-5'11 upper average. Might be different in Canada though.

In regards to people considering 5'6 short but 6'0 not necessarily tall, I've talked to people irl and on other forums about this. The general consensus seems to be that there is a higher standard to be considered tall. So someone an inch or two below average is automatically short, but to be tall, a person would need to be several inches above average. At least a full standard deviation, though possibly more. Again, not my opinion, just what I've heard.

Christian is right on the money. I've always felt that on a trend based basis, if we all tend to agree that 6'0 is tall or the start of it, then we gotta say that a height of 5'10 and 5'11 have to be above average whereas something from like 5'8 to 5'9 is average height with 5'9 being more of a solid average. I would say 5'8 is medium average height.
Sakz said on 9/Mar/19
@Christian 6'5 3/8" Yep you summed that up well. I was going to give a similar response to Phillipe. This is why I don't pay much attention to what society labels as tall and short and I would advise others not to either, because there's a biased and distorted view on height a lot of the time. I mean 5'9 which isn't short by any means is described as just that. Also there's a difference between feeling short at a certain height and it actually being short.
Myself said on 9/Mar/19

Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 9/Mar/19

First, it's because we live in a pessimistic society. Second, it's because the perception of height has been distorted due to people lying about height, so many people believe that 5'10"-5'11" is the average, when in reality it's above average. More people will be quicker to call 5'6" short, than to call 6'0" tall, even though both are equidistant from 5'9".

Hey Rob. There was a measurement done on a greek TV show and I would like your opinion.

Click Here

I'll give you some info. Over the past month this greek model was asked multiple times to comment on her stature and she was giving varying height claims, she has claimed 183, 185, 186 and 187 cm on different occasions. This was picked up by many greek internet and tv shows and she was being made fun of for lying.
So she finally went to get measured. She boldly claims before her measurement that she is certain now she IS 186 CM.

The measurement is done at 1:47 but the presenter doesn't read the tape, he just says ''Honey, you are not 186 cm, you really don't wanna know what the tape says''. Can you guess how tall she is by that shot? I think she is around 5'11...

By the way, at 2:34 she is measuring the presenter who claims he is around 177 cm before getting measured. However she reads out that he is around 171 cm much to his shock! How tall do you think he is too?

Hey Rob, Greg says he's been unable to access CelebHeights for a few days now. He's tried all the usual methods you suggest for fixing the issue including resetting his browser cache and deleting his browser cookies. He's even tried resetting his Wi-Fi, other websites load for him except this one. The weird thing is that he can access CH just fine from his gym's Wi-Fi. Do you think it's a home Wi-Fi? I had the same problem in around January but accessing CH from my campus Wi-Fi plus clearing my browser cookies seemed to fix it.
Editor Rob

there are some issues like old browsers that I know won't be able to access the site, but nothing has changed recently on the server, so please ask him to email my robpaul gmail so I can see if there's anything obvious to me.

Yeah, a 1cm loss after an hour out of bed is common for many people, but I would say 0.9cm to be more specific. I lose slower than average though, at 0.7cm after an hour. I've heard some people losing as much as around 1.5cm

@Csimpson
Hair didn't affect my measured height at all either. As long as you press your hair all the way down to the head when measuring, then you won't overmeasure, unless you have very tight curls like Rob said. And even then I doubt it would be more than a couple mm difference.
Lell said on 6/Mar/19
Rob, I'm curious. You have talked about things that can undermeasure you, but what is it that can overmeasure you instead?
Editor Rob
You can still overmeasure if your floor slopes slightly downwards towards a wall (so your heels are higher than the point you are putting the tape measure on). Similarly if the wall is slightly bent then the can might be sitting at an angle, so the mark on the wall is higher up than your head.
RolyFlo said on 5/Mar/19
Ey Rob I just measured myself an exact 176.25 cm 3 hours and half on my feet (after bed) or exactly 5'9 3/8. What is the best and fair claim for me?
Editor Rob
You will fall down to 5ft 9ish, so claiming that height, will mean it would be unlikely you'd measure shorter.

But say you go to the Doctor like an average bloke at 10am and get told 5ft 9 3/8ths...some guys would just say 5ft 9, others 5ft 9 and a half...and a proportion ignore it and claim 5ft 10 or 11! Few would say the 3/8ths though.
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 5/Mar/19
Littlelee doesn't seem to know the difference between someone having a personal ideal height, and someone being outright obsessed about wanting to be a certain height. I believe that 6'3" is ideal, but I don't obsess over it.

@Snerhag
Unless if the person guessing is like 4 feet tall, than I doubt that they wouldn't be able to tell between a 6'4" and a 6'6" guy. 2 inches is a very noticeable difference.

The first couple of hours of being awake will reduce your height quite a lot, compared to say the period from 12 to 8pm

It would also be ironic if he ends up supporting PSG after my daft autobrush changed the word page to PSG's in my message to you today when I tried to put "I like your comment about your nephew Ferdinand on Rob's page"! Hey Rob I got my head shaved at the barbers a few days ago and then i measured my height to see if there was any difference to my height without having hair and it seems that I am still getting the same measurements, is that the same for everyone? I bet if you have very thick hair then you could possibly over measure yourself right? Since the can may struggle to flatten your hair all the way down to your skull.
Editor Rob
If you have tight curls and don't press down, then it may add a couple of mm, but mostly if you are putting an object on your head any hair is minimal.
SnerhagAip777 said on 3/Mar/19
Rob, would you consider someone who's taller than 8 heads to have a tiny head size? If i measured correctly u must be around 8-8.1 heads tall. I pray that i didn't measure wrong and it's actually less. Anyway, my head looks tiny to me. Embarrassingly tiny. I'm always worried that people are talking about it behind my backand it makes me insane. I hate to complain but i've been obsessed about this for about 3-4 years and it drives me insane.
Editor Rob
Yes, I would say they would have quite a small head.

It's visually a benefit in looking taller than your actual height. What folk think or talk about is something that worries many people, especially when it comes to insecurities. I did grow up within an environment a bit like that, but by my 20's had long stopped worrying about what others think.

SnerhagAip777 said on 2/Mar/19
Rob, would a 6'4 person look much different to most people than someone who's 6'5 or even 6'6 to an average person? I'm not talking about pictures here, just the kind of impression tall people give i don't think is that different. Especially if you keep in mind that a lot of people seem to think of themselves to be at least an inch taller than they actually are.
Editor Rob
A 2 inch jump in height is far more noticeable to people than a 1 inch jump.

It doesn't make you "feel better", it's just being objective. Height does give advantages in many fields if you are lucky, so it's kinda pointless to not agree about this. If you feel good at your height and wouldn't want to be any different, then good for you; it probably means that it either is the perfect height for you personally, or you really learned to deal with it and accept it.
In your case, with your self-acceptance, you probably brainwashed yourself to the point of expecting others to be as closed minded and subjective, with the inability to think clearly, as you've become.

In many photos it might be close to that, because a slight tilt of eyes down and it will then appear longer.

But dead ahead with no beard and to chin point it is basically 9.5-9.6 zone. Raise eyes up a bit and it becomes closer to 9 inch.

I'm a weak-flat 5'10 and my eye level is generally between 5'5.25-5'5.5. Most guys who stand exactly at 5'10 will have an eye level of 5'5.5 on average, but stronger 5'10s will have eye levels of 5'5.75 to 5'6. Though an eye level of 5'6.25 would place you in 5'11 territory. A 6'0 guy would have an eye level starting at 5'7.5 if he's a flat 6'0, but a weaker 6'0 will have an eye level of 5'7.25. A 5'10 and 6'0 guy will have a 2 inch variation in eye level.

@Leo9004 Everyone grows differently, growth spurts can happen any time, and height growth can stop at any time anywhere maybe from ages 12 - 21 (or maybe even older in some cases). Height is mostly due with genetics and your health status. But either way, it is very unpredictable to predict what your adult height is going to be when you finish your growing stage. It's true height is based on genetics, but unfortunately it's all random and you never know whose height gene you most likely got it from. I have a mixture of short and average size genes from both sides of my biological family (possibly with a few tall people in my genes). I ended up being a near 176cm, pretty average height for a guy. My sister ended up being 150cm, which is pretty short for a woman (she probably got it from my short family's side). There have been a few occasions where guys have grown significantly after age 18 like Justin Bieber and Ralph Macchio for example (they're still not quite tall, but it was a pretty noticeable difference compared to a few years before it seemed they stopped growing). Usually on average, height growth usually stops or slows down drastically around ages 17-19, possibly a bit different for women. I recommend not to stress about your height, and get your mind occupy with other things. It's possible stress can have an impact on your growth stage as well. So eat better, sleep better, and do some exercises. Maybe you could possibly grow more.

@Greg

I don't know if I stunted my growth with the weight lifting or not, but I also had poor sleeping habits, but a decent diet and good exercise routine. Another thing is that if I hadn't stopped growing between 15-16 and grew 2 inches that summer like I did the previous one. I'd be a 5'11.75-6'0 guy today because I'd have been a 5'9 range in 11th grade and then growing another 2 inches in 12th would have placed me at 5'11, and then the inch that I grew after that would make me a weak to flat 6'0 today. So, in summary, I'd be 2 inches taller if I had grown that summer rather than stopping for almost 2 years.

@Csimpson6ft see youโ€™re lucky you are 6โ€™0 I would take that height if I couldnโ€™t be 6โ€™1-6โ€™2, they are all solid heights but I think 6โ€™0 is one of the best heights I too stunted my growth by not sleeping a lot and eating a poor diet, I think I could have stretched to a strong 5โ€™11 maybe if I was on top of everything.

At 18 the average growth isn't that much, but still, I think if anybody at that age wants to maximise whatever genetic potential they may still have, keeping up exercise and good diet/sleep is something worth looking at.

I've seen a lot of people here that think height and beard growth during puberty are correlated, but that's not necessarily the case. I've already had a moustache and beard at 15 but didn't stop growing until about 19. And I've seen the complete opposite in some boys.

@Canson
It's not impossible that you've lost a couple mm. You mentioned that you used to be a full 194 at a low but these days you end up at 193.8. I doubt it's the hair, because I used to have thicker hair a few years ago but today with having less hair, I measure no shorter than when I had thicker hair, and if anything I might be a couple mm or so taller. I used to end the day at 196.2-196.3 even when I didn't hit the gym, but these days it's more 196.4 or .5. It could be posture related with my case.

Editor Rob
If head is level it is somewhere in 4.5-6 range, tilt up a little and it will be 4.1-4.3, tilt down a little and 4.8-5.

Sometimes in photos it's not so apparent how much an eyelevel has changed, and the height of the camera can effect what people think.
Canson said on 23/Feb/19
@Myself: not sure when I lost them or if I really did. I had longer hair and may not have been measuring properly before. I never really measured before coming on this site as often as I do now. I would simply take what the doctor or nurse told me. I was measured 6โ€™4 5/8 on a physical since Iโ€™ve been on this site but I realized that it was earlier in the day still early afternoon but was after sitting reclined for a bit. You laying down on the table before being measured makes you gain and itโ€™s likely that it was a bit shy of the mark in reality.

In your case, I would claim 193. Youโ€™re close enough to it and youโ€™re not a weak 6โ€™4โ€ at that stage. Youโ€™re just about 6โ€™3 7/8โ€ but more importantly youโ€™re closer to 193 than 192 even at a low. In my case if I had to claim CM it would be 194 or 193/194 since I can see 193.6 some days from heavy lifting and even lower on the extreme low. But in the states itโ€™s simply inches and feet so 6โ€™4โ€

But you will lose height with age and approach 6'3 flat quicker at my height...
I'm actually a solid 192.7 at my low right now, even after a lot of walking with back issues (getting slightly worse now...), from what I've seen the last days. I think I will claim 193 from now on, but I also thought about "192 and a half". Not sure yet, what do you think? Also... when you lost those 2 mm, did it happen after reaching your ultra low multiple times and with very noticeable symptoms or not?
Because I do planks for my core and lower back regularly now and I also lost 8-9 kg (at 100/101 now), but my back is in a tough situation anyway (although I still don't reach my ultra low that often) and I'm planning to get another MRI done. I just hope I don't or won't have DDD...
But about stares, for me it's also true that teen girls tend to look more often and multiple times on my experience. But at the same time it seemed that men in their 30s tend to look more often than younger ones; maybe it's because they look more in the eyes rather than from behind, so I notice it easier.
I am not sure about little kids though, maybe you must have more of an elongated look, or just be taller than myself to get looked that often...or you know, fertility rates are so low in Italy that I barely see any of them hehe, but I doubt.
Sakz said on 22/Feb/19
@Percy3468 From what I've seen and heard people do actually consider 5'11 tall with 5'7 automatically being seen as short. However to add to what Rob said, I think it's also just public and societal perception. From my experience a lot of people are quick to say 5'7 is short for a male, yet since 5'11 is very close to 6'0 they may see it as tall or at least tallish. It's weird because as you said one is a couple of inches below average and the other above, but I think it's just the way society perceives it. I mean a 5'11 guy can probably get away with being 6'0 since it's only an inch away, so it actually can be seen as tall whereas 5'7 is well off that mark so people will just perceive it as being short and below average. After all, some will even say 5'9 is short when it's pretty much bang on average in a lot of places.
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 22/Feb/19

I'm a bit surprised that the amount of stares you get is based on your shoe selection. You probably won't be more than only an inch apart. (6'5" in casuals vs 6'5.5"-6'6" in boots) Goes to show how much an inch difference makes. I usually get around the same amount of stares whether I'm in canvas sneakers (6'6") or boots (6'7") though.

Hey Rob, 5ft 7 is considered short however it's only 2 inches below average. However 5ft 11 is 2 inches above average and is not considered tall. Why do you think this is.
Editor Rob
That is something I've brought up in the past...it's true, the percentage who call 5ft 11 tall is far less than those who call 5ft 7 short.

Maybe the average height is skewed a bit in many minds. A large chunk lie so they many who think of 5ft 7 are actually think of a 5ft 6 person...

5"could be more at the crossroads between solid tall and very tall/standout.Ultimately I would say that in my country (average youngster 172-3) you have to be 187-8 to start standing out,I mean being the tall man around,although in a crowded place you will definitely have to be 190+ to be the tallest.I think in US/UK once near 6'4 you might look very tall to most people because there is what 1% of the population taller than you?Having been in NY,Vancouver,Brussels and other west european and north american cities,6'2 seems solid tall indeed,it would be non sense to deny it but still it's part of the landscape almost everywhere you go,same way my 6'father feels in Tunisia,clearly bigger than most dudes,always described as tall but nevertheless quite rarely the tallest.

Canson said on 20/Feb/19
@Jdubbz: Christian mentioned before that heโ€™s close in shoes to hitting the top of the doorway counting hair in the AM at that height but I think at a low heโ€™s probably ok although thatโ€™s around where it may start to taper off since anything above (197 range) you are gonna be near 6โ€™7 with 1โ€ shoes for a good part of the morning at least. At least if youโ€™re only a solid 6โ€™5โ€ youโ€™d likely just get 6โ€™5.75 out of bed and be down to 6โ€™5 3/8 after an hour assuming your loss is front loaded.

As you mention public transportation - that is a good example where both (health and convenience) come together: things like low bus ceilings or crowded trains are not nice when you are tall, but become a real issue when you also have physical problems. A real problem is asking for a priority seat because most people just perceive me to be a tall young man.

I haven't thought too much about it, so I have a hard time recalling exactly which age group gives me the most stares and longest looks, but I think it's teens and maybe old people, most often.
The latter category because they usually were already shorter than nowadays average in their youth and have shrunk with age in addition to that, making the difference even more noticeable.
I don't know if there's a real difference between people in their 20s and 30s on this matter though.

I consider height that's 6 inches or more, in a particular region or country as "very tall". So where I live, the average doesn't seem more than 5'8.5", so I'd consider 6'2.5" as the start of "very tall".

Rob, you ever feel star-struck meeting any of these celebs? It must be routine for you at this point. Personally, as a big X-Files fan, I would have felt a little giddy standing next to Gillian Anderson the way you did.
Editor Rob
I was happy being the one taking the photos than being in them, which is why I can barely find any from my teenage years!

So it's strange for this site that I did begin become the face of it. I am not sure I would call it starstruck...it's definitely an enjoyable experience - I like watching other people get photos too, because there's a lot of happy people in these rooms. You might see me and the actor, but there's also others in the room too looking excited. Some do get nervous too.

Even I've muddled my words at times :)

Rob if Iโ€™m 5ft 5 at my very lowest (after a shift in a warehouse) but hold 5ft 5.5 3 hours out of bed, is it best to go with my height as being 5ft 5 or just over it when claiming my height?
Editor Rob
It is really up to you.

If you say 5ft 5, nobody is going to think you are lower...if you decided to round upwards to 5ft 6, again, some might think you are shorter.

Saying 5ft 5.5 is fair too. It's what you feel comfortable saying.

I personally don't feel comfortable claiming a height I measure under, so I know I drop to around 5ft 8 1/8th and just claim the 5ft 8 if anybody asks.
Sakz said on 19/Feb/19
@Lopesanno Well I would argue 6'8 is 'extremely tall' with anything 6'9+ heading into giant tall territory, but everyone phrases them differently. From my own observations watching certain sports I've noticed people who are 6'4-6'5 and over tend to get injured quite often, mainly with back and knee issues as you mentioned. I don't personally know anybody as tall as you but I imagine it must be a nightmare not only because of the health issues, but even with things such as transport and clothing. As it's been discussed by many on here it's just not an ideal height unless you play a sport such as basketball, and quite regularly at that. At the end of the day though it can't be helped and all you can do is manage the best you can.

@ Rob,
Here is the recent national health survey report of UK(England) in 2017
Click Here
The average height of 16-24 year old men was 176.4 cm and for 25-34 year old men was 177cm and the overall average average was 175.3cm. But overall comparing to previous health surveys in UK, I am about 3cm less than average for young men in Uk.
Editor Rob
That's interesting that the average went down.

From 2016 16-24 (177.3) to 2017 (176.4)

And 25-34 from 178.4 to 177cm

From the sample size they used, that's fairly significant. The reason?

It could be just the sampling size was a bit lower for those subsets, or just a few more shorter people managed to take part, or maybe more immigrants who originated from shorter countries were included in 2017.

A sample size of 240 and 386 isn't huge really. If you look at the 90's the sample was far bigger. Maybe cost-cutting and not enough money to fund a bigger sample?

So the English average is still around 5ft 9 on the nose.

Even if you were a solid 6'0 1/8" at night, claiming 8ths would be too meticulous. I'd highly advise against it. Rob's 1/8" over 5'8" but he never claims 5'8 1/8" to people, at least not from what I know.

@Canson
But what age group do you get stares the most from? I mostly get it from children but usually not adults. I think part of the reason is because kids aren't used to seeing someone my height. It's not like I wear particularly fancy flashy clothing.

@ Nik - I hope I don't have it necessary to write a Part 2! ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ๐Ÿˆ

โญ๏ธ The word 'critter' was first widely used in North America. I remember it being used to describe animals in 'The Little House on the Prairie', which is a fact-based account of a young girl growing up in the 1870's and 1880's in North America, not long after the American Civil War.

The word can be used to describe any animal, including insects, which ARE counted as animals. But then, so are we, and 'critter' can be used in reference to an unfortunate person or child.

Unsurprisingly, there is a film called 'Critters', which stars one of my horror favourites, Lin Shaye, and Ethan Phillips, who plays Neelix in Star Trek's 'Voyager'.

How about this for something funny? The second 'Critters' movie is entitled 'The Main Course'! Urghhh! Yuckety yuck yuck yuck! ๐Ÿ˜–

Jdubbz 6'4 3/4" said on 18/Feb/19
@Canson:

My variance could definitely tighten over time. 6'4.75 has always been my ideal height so I'd be perfectly happy even if it didn't. I'd be ok with "textbook" 6'5 range like 6'4 7/8 at a low or even 6'5 flat since I'll still be under 6'7 in shoes in the morning. Strong 6'5 range like 6'5.25 - 6'5.375 would probably still have decent doorway clearance, but anything above that is pushing it. I used to view extra height as icing on the cake, but now it seems like more of a hindrance than anything.
Bobby 178cm said on 18/Feb/19
@Csimpson6ft

That's an odd claim though, even if you were that tall at a low, you'd still be better off claiming 6'0 unless you were like 6'0.25, then you could either round down and claim just 6'0 or round up and claim 6'0.5. I'd probably be more likely to claim 6'0, but say 184cm in metric, or 183/184 as a range.
Jake the Snake said on 18/Feb/19
Hey Rob 2 hours out of bed I'm 173cm bang on with a low of 172cm. I will claim about 5ft8. If I were to ever shrink to 171cm at a later age I would simply claim 5ft7.

Andrea said on 18/Feb/19
Although I would personally place the start of "very tall" more at 6'3 than 6'2 too, I'm sure there is a fair number of occasions where a 6'2 guy will look/feel very tall.

@Sakz: Not only extremely tall get health issues because of their size. I know what I am talking about standing 6'8''. I am not even 40 and already dealing with some degenerative diseases which are quite common among people like me. On the one side it's hip and knee joints and the classical spinal deformations. On the other side also onset of circulatory problems (especially in the lower legs).

@ Rob - Oh yes, cats absolutely love spiders, first to play with and then to munch up! What's the point of eating them? I mean, they can't be very filling or have much taste, if at all! My cats are well-fed, but still they go looking for 'extras'.

I've never thought twice about fishing a spider out of the bath, and I don't understand why people have phobias about them. But having said that, if I come across maggots, that's it - you won't see me for dust. I screamed the place down when I was staying at my Dad's one time because one of the cats, probably Choccie, the huntress of the three, had caught a mouse and the flies had got to it before either of us had shovelled it into the bin (my Dad!) or buried it (in my case!)

My Dad came out to see why the hell I was screaming like that. I said, "I feel like fainting at the sight of maggots, so don't laugh!"

He suggested that Choccie cleared it up, but next time I went into the conservatory, the carcass had magically disappeared!

It's bizarre that the tiniest creatures can result in humans becoming quivering wrecks at times. Phobias of spiders, moths etc are quite common.

For Jenny, it's mice. Resulting once from waiting for the Bus at the town centre and seeing rat scurrying close to her...that put the fear into her.
Myself, well I'm not fond of flying creatures either. One time opening the bathroom (6 x 6 ft) and being confronted by a flapping pterodactyl...well ok, a crow, but that scared the **** out of me!

Rob,did you notice how the fact of standing right behind someone can alter our perception of his/her height
I took 4 examples of 4 different persons I know well so was able to stand close to them both in front and behind
Person A:most likely height:about 5'8 flat from behind about 5'9
Person B: probably 5'5.75-6 from behind no more than 5'5
Person C:Probably around 5'8 from behind only 5'7
Person D:around a strong 6'1 from behind over 6'2
Since I'm used to stand close to them I would be surprised their actual height would be much different from what I mentioned yet I wonder why there are persons who look shorter and others taller when you don't see their face?thanks.
Editor Rob
Yeah, if you don't have facial points to glance at, sometimes it might be harder judging height for people. There's always margin of error with guessing height. The more you observe different heights (ones you have measured), the better you can become.
Sakz said on 17/Feb/19
@Canson Yeah I completely understood your point and mines was just a general assessment. It really depends on how tall you've become used to being. If I was around your height I probably wouldn't want to be much shorter either simply because I'd be used to it. With that being said though I would only stretch to 6'4 if I was thickly built because with my current slim build I'd probably look lanky. For me that is also a factor because certain builds can compliment certain heights better.

@Tunman Compared to the overall UK average (which is reported to be 5'9) you can argue it is standout. I would say at least 6'3 though if you factor in the 5'10 average for younger males.
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 17/Feb/19

I don't have an issue with people looking at me for a couple seconds either, but what can be a bit bothersome is when they stare at you for several seconds like they're seeing an alien. Most adults don't do that, but when I'm around kids and teens it often happens.

@Canson and Sakz
Any height above 6'2" or 6'3" isn't practical for daily life IMO. I ranked 6'4" as #2, but now I changed my mind. 6'2" is preferrable over 6'4" for me now.
Csimpson6ft said on 16/Feb/19
@Guru Guy It depends on your height barefeet and how tall you are from morning to evening, but yeah you might be 6'1 or just under it at the absolute minimum, you should measure yourself barefeet and find out.

If that's your normal low, then you are basically a six footer. I wouldn't even hesitate in saying six foot if anybody asks your height. Just don't claim 6ft 1 ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi again Rob!

Here is another animal story:-

Last night at around 3 o'clock, I was both commenting and watching 'Blackadder'. Suddenly, there was the most almighty great noise coming from the room next door and I went to investigate what could possibly be causing it. Two lamps were over and there were bits of clothing all strewn about the floor. I knew it was down to the cats, but for that much turbulence to be going on, I thought one of them had come in with a bird perhaps, because all the little mammals will still be in hibernation.

I watched the cats' eyes as they followed something round the room. Then it turned out to be an average-sized spider, and luckily for the little octoped, I was able to scoop it up and take it to the safety of the garden! Had I not been able to catch the frightened critter, I dread to think of the state of the place come the morning, not to mention one of the cats would probably have eaten the none-too- substantial snack!

๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ๐Ÿ‘‹ "There there, little spider, all better!"

Cheers Rob and all of you!

Editor Rob
I think I would begin to class it as a kind of stand out, but obviously not as much as 6ft 3-4 men look.
Canson said on 16/Feb/19
@Sakz: admittedly, it is a lot as Iโ€™ve said before that Iโ€™m happy that Iโ€™m not any taller than 6โ€™4โ€. But what I was trying to say was that 6โ€™5โ€ isnโ€™t terrible height in comparison with something like 6โ€™7 or 6โ€™10 etc. even 6โ€™6โ€. But Iโ€™d choose 6โ€™3 or 6โ€™2 over 6โ€™5โ€. To be honest 6โ€™1โ€ and 6โ€™0โ€ are not far off in my list of preferred heights as you get those benefits. I only chose 6โ€™5โ€ over most (other than 6โ€™2 and 6โ€™3) because Iโ€™m 6โ€™4 as is so going from 6โ€™4 to 6โ€™5 isnโ€™t much whereas anything less is different for me. I would go 6โ€™4 then 6โ€™3 then 6โ€™2. Then 6โ€™5. And Iโ€™d take less than 6โ€™2 down to about 5โ€™11 before I chose 6โ€™6โ€

Sakz said on 15/Feb/19
@Canson For me personally even 6'5 is too much and doesn't really provide any added benefits, but at least it's a manageable height in most situations. Regular tall heights like the ones you mentioned won't really provide any disadvantages but they're tall enough for a lot of people, which is why they seem to be preferred. That reminds me I remember asking a friend of mine (who's probably 5'4-5'5) how tall he would have liked to have been since he wasn't happy with his height growing up and he said 6'4. My brother who's around 5'6 said my height would be ideal for him so yeah it really does vary.

I hope for your sake that you donโ€™t grow any more either. 6โ€™5 flat isnโ€™t a bad height but if I had to choose between that and 195 Iโ€™d take the latter. What is your out of bed height now a days? While not completely accurate if your variance is high it may indicate to an extent that your low may increase. I rarely see owls, but foxes are more common as I said around these parts. The other day a van couldn't move and I went out to see and this fox was staring the van driver down...there was a big chunk of meat on a bone near the wheel of the van and that fox wanted it!

@Christian: I get my fair share of Stares but because of how Iโ€™m built and with good posture. And Iโ€™m an inch shorter than you being 6โ€™4 vs 6โ€™5. Iโ€™d hate to be 6โ€™7 or 6โ€™8โ€. As for 5โ€™11 Iโ€™d take that over a lot of heights much taller than I am now. I def would take 5โ€™11 over 6โ€™6โ€. 6โ€™5 is a tossup but Iโ€™d take my current 6โ€™4 over 5โ€™11โ€
Canson said on 13/Feb/19
@Sakz: I agree and donโ€™t see any benefits of anything really over 6โ€™5โ€. Really if youโ€™re 6โ€™2-6โ€™3 youโ€™re comfortably tall but each has his own preference. I prefer 6โ€™4โ€ since Iโ€™m already that but I would rather be a solid 6โ€™4โ€ at a low versus 6โ€™4.25 or even fall into the 6โ€™3.8-6โ€™3.9 range possibly which would keep me right at 6โ€™5 in shoes and not the fraction over

@Canson Yeah unwanted and unneeded attention I would say.

@Myself How tall are you?
edwards said on 13/Feb/19
yes i also personally think that 5'11 is great height.it dosent sound that great when you compare it with 6 or over 6.but i personally think it is good height.

@Mileno
I'd take 5'11" or 6'0" range as ideal if I was a professional bodybuilder or a male model. I've heard that 5'11" is the most proportionate and aesthetic height for a man.

@Canson it was a joke.

@Canson

C-Mo's ideal is basically 5'11. My ideal is 6'1 in truth.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I would take 6'0 over 5'11

I would take 6'0 over any height . I think a solid 183-184cm with good proportions and a mesomorphic build where you also can become very heavy (if you want) without getting too fat is the perfect size for a man

I agree c-mon I'm a big fan of 5'11 too. I consider the best height in terms of proportions etc. A real 5'11 guy is tall without doubt and I'm sure guess at 6'0 from most of people.
@c-mon We are identical man. I'm closer to 5'10 than 5'9. 178.3 right after bed strong 176.6 at lunch.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hehe cheers mate

I think you are a little taller than me in midday - evening because I am very heavy for my height and when I am active I fall pretty quickly to 176cm

and yes 5'11 is great ! but 6'0 is the best . I dont think 5'11 is tall though . it is upper end of medium . some people would see you as tall at 5'11 but it really isnt "tall" . however it is one of the best heights a man can be for sure

Honestly now i guess the ideal height for a man is 180-185cm. Basically anywhere in that range is tall enough and has no disadvantages whatsoever!I mean im like 182 in shoes and never feel short or even just average..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

thats what I am saying since years :)

the very best height is around 183-184cm at night with a broad frame , good proportions , mesomorphic build . cant get better than that

you are never too tall
you are never too short . the only scenarios where you might feel "too short" would be if you are surrounded by men who are all 6'4 / 6'5 and over or where all women around you are over 5'9 with big heels ....which are very unrealistic cases

a decent amount of people will see you as tall or at least tallish at this height . but you still dont tower over average height men . your height will not define you ! thats pretty important for me . I wouldnt want to be "the tall guy" the whole time or stick out among my friends like a street lamp

you can date short women without them looking like kids next to you
you can date average height women who will look good next to you
you can date tall women because you are still comfortably taller than them . keep in mind that you are easily 185cm in shoes so even a 175cm woman with 10cm heels wont be taller than you and 175cm is a tall height for a woman

you can become a runway model at this height

fighting/selfdefense : even though height and size are not the most important factors and even though there are a lot of short and skinny men who can beat tall and heavy guys it is definitely a factor still . I mean if you are lets say 170cm and 60kg and have someone in front of you who is lets say 193cm and 110kg then even though you can still win you definitely are at a disadvantage in reach and weight no question . but if you are 183cm and 90-100kg you wont be in a disadvantage . you also are tall enough to not suffer from reach disadvantage but short enough to be still quick and agile

that being said I think my height is very good for fighting . some of the best fighters are/were in the 5'9 - 5'11 range

Daniel Cormier is around 177cm and is heavyweight champion in mma
David Tua is 5'9 or 5'10 max and beat many tall men and was a great boxer in the heavyweight division
Mike Tyson = 178-179cm
Rocky Marciano = 178-179cm
Fedor Emelianenko at 181cm

but at the same time you have mutants like anthony joshua and deontay wilder etc. lol

Rob/others, what do you think about the height of today's youth? I mean who born after 1995.
In my experience this generation are shorter compare to previous. Lot of teenager cant reach their father's height. For example I was born in 2001 I'm 5'9 (5'9.25 after a good sleep) and I'm taller than most of my classmates and students. And my country's avarage height is 5'9/5'9.25 (this country is Hungary).
My father is around 5'10 5'10.5 I have not reached his height.
I won't grow any more.

I think in the UK, the average young 19-20 year old still seems near 5ft 10, I am not sure there is any drop-off though. Some countries over next few decades might stagnate and regress a bit, whilst others catch up.
Canson said on 12/Feb/19
@Jdubbz: are you still growing?
Sakz said on 12/Feb/19
@Jdubbz People basically look at you like you're a freak. I've got no idea why anyone would find that ideal, apart from the fact that people probably find it cool to absolutely tower over everybody and attract unnecessary attention.
