@Christian 6'5 3/8 - Someone posted the data one here a year or two back and it was between 168 and 169. Rob confirmed that sounds about right bcuz he has read it too. Many asian countries are below 5ft 6 which is half the planet's population. Plus many african countries and south american countries are 5ft 6 and below.

@Importer I'm never guessed at my actual height by anyone, Im always guessed as being taller, probably because I'm quite slim and I have fairly long legs for my height so I get guessed at 6'1 and 6'2 by a lot of people, it just goes to show you that 6'0 is a pretty tall height.

@Miss Sandy Cowel Hi Sandy I'm pretty sure my morning height straight out of bed is between 6'0.5 and 6'0.75, I'll have to check it again one day to know for sure, although I remember measuring it a few minutes out of bed and my last measurement was 6'0 5/8ths but it wasn't from getting out of bed straight away.

5'11.5 is in a grey area, it can be tall at times but really it's 2.5 inches above average so to me it's not quite tall but it's getting there, i would class it as tallish.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend too Sandy, as always it's lovely to talk you, bye for now πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘‹

I see you do not have the comedic duo Lou Costello and Bud Abbott on here?

They were very popular

Lou Costello listed at 5'5 but definitely was 5'3-5'4 zone.
Bud Abbott at 5'8 looks maybe 5'7.5

At some point do you think you can add them?

@Questioner I think 5’9” could be a global average for young men. I agree that with @Christian 6’5 3/8” that for men of all ages the average is 5’7.5”
Bobby 178cm said on 11/Aug/19

I don't see the average being anywhere near 5'11 even by the standards of young people. It also depends on what country we are discussing but since height almost always winds up being related to the U.S average, then the average is still 5'8-5'9. It's not about how often you see 5'10-5'11, it's about what the actual statistics have to report.

@ Connor - I agree that 6ft is a tall height, even looking at it from other people's perspective. Obviously, even 5ft9, my boyfriend's height, seems relatively tall to me, especially now being that bit shorter than in my youth, but I know that it is an average male height.

At a push, I'd say that 5ft11.5 passes for tall, bearing in mind that those this height will wake up measuring 6ft+.

What is your height when you first get out of bed, Connor? There has been plenty of discussion going on about your lowest height, and not anywhere near enough about your highest!

Thanks Connor and cheers! I hope you're enjoying your weekend. πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ“β“

@ MD - I don't think there is any call for being so heavy handed with Nik, who is MALE, by the way. He does use two different devices, but has never pretended to be anyone other than himself. Nik is an open book, and there is no fakery to him.

The reason that he jots down statistics is so that there is a comparison record for the months and years to come. He has explained this to me. Nik has an unusual and debilitating skin condition, making day-to-day living extra work for himself and his Mum. I started writing to him shortly after I started visiting the site and I found his honesty about himself very sweet so now I communicate with him and chat over the phone.

Nik loves this website and is truly fascinated by height. He is always asking me how tall the people were when I have been out! I'm sure if you had asked him nicely to cut down on the emojis, he would have done so. Life is too short to pick holes in one another, so I think you should endeavour to get on, especially with people with the same interests as you.

Kind regards,

Sandy Cowell.

Lazar99's likely just trolling. It would've been more believable had he not said that 5'9" is no different from 5'4". 5 inches is obviously a big difference.

it is not only that . he says that 3 inches is a big difference hence why 6'0 and 5'9 are very different but at the same time he says 5'9 and 5'4 are the same but they are 5 inches apart lol

and also it is not only about the fact that 5 inches is a lot but 5'9 is in the average range while 5'4 is a lot less than average . as cmillzz said the difference between even 5'6 and 5'9 is different than 5'9 and 6'0 even though both are 3 inches apart ...why ? because at 5'9 you are in the average range and have a medium height while at 5'6 you are short even if 6'0 is taller next to 5'9 it is still different . let alone 5'4 and 5'9 .

I am 5'9.25 and when I am with my friends who are 181-182c , 184cm and 189cm even though they are of course taller than me it is not the same as if we had a guy next to us who is 5'4 . he would stick out but I dont stick out among taller men because I am around average height

Nik said on 7/Aug/19
@ c-mo - Older men and men from all ethnic minority groups are part of the male population so they should be included.

I dont include them . why would it matter to me what height 80 year old grandpas are ? and by including people from other countries you are bringing the average down too and it gives a wrong average

according to that logic you could bring millions of indonesians into netherlands and then the average height will be 5'8 :p lol

Rob, Nik Ashton/Nik seems to be posting under two names, now, and all she is doing lately is stating how many comments/votes have been posted to that point and/or posting a lot of useless smilies. This is adding nothing to the board, and is quite distracting. Can you tell her to cut this out, please?
Editor Rob
It might be different devices Nik was using, as every few months the cookies are 'reset' so you have to enter name again.

I always welcome comments that relate to height.

A comment like 'I like her hair' on it's own isn't adding much, so you are right that some types of comments can be seen as distracting.

I read a lot of comments that are well-meaning and completely inoffensive, but many of them are deleted - so I'm seeing a lot more of those than visitors will ever see.

Maybe letting some through isn't so bad, though I would recommend if somebody was adding a comment like 'I like her hair', maybe include something about their height.

Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 9/Aug/19
The problem with that method is that there are some countries and cities where every race is equally represented, which means all races have around the same percentage of people living. Let's go with Chicago for example. Chicago has around 32% white, 32% black and 29% Latino, so you can't base the average of Chicago on only one race.

Rob this is random but me and Greg have been talking to each other on Facebook and we were having a debate about my height, would you call me a legit or solid 6 footer?

I'm between 6'0.5 and 6'0.75 out of bed and later on I'm down to 6'0 for the most of the day and at night I shrink to 5'11 7/8ths, in my opinion I think solid would be someone who doesn't fall below the 6'0 mark at night, in my case I do I'm 5'11 7/8ths at my low so I would place myself in the legit category, what do you think? Greg classes me as solid 6'0 range
Editor Rob
Well it's good to see you are on talking terms after last year!

I'd call you a legit 6 footer, because you can as you say fall a little shy of it.

But considering a lot of folk are lying about their height, a fairly sizeable proportion of the population will view a true six foot guy as being taller.

Rob, I was a bit surprised to see how thick the 720s are. You’d be looking closer to 5’9 than 5’8 in public with those on.
Editor Rob
Yeah If you wear them out and about (even after a few months) they'd probably still be about 1.5 inches, which is very big for a sneaker.

That 720 is not as popular a seller as the 270's, which I think were one of the biggest sellers in be fair, the 270's look a bit better I think in person, though for me the comfort feels the same.

Although I'm not wearing either of those in 2019. My model of choice for every day wear this year has been the Nike Flex RN 2017, which I found was a great fit for my feet and very lightweight...though the materials for light sneakers means they don't have long lasting durability.

@Redwing: I’m 6’4 1/4 approximately on a normal day at a low. I feel even at nearly 1.94 that a guy who is around 1.83 is tall. That’s just about a solid 11cm difference since both are a bit under the marks. But even that height comes to my eyebrows so I consider it tall. A well proportioned 6’0” always passes for 6’2” lol just as I pass for 6’6 a lot whether I want to be taller or not and I don’t want to be any more than I am as it’s tall enough
Nik said on 7/Aug/19

@khaled taban

5'9 is a decent height for a man . it is not bad at all . wtf are you talking ....

@Ben . no problem man :) you were not rude . you didnt offend me at all

in most of the world the average is actually less than 5'9 . in a lot of countries in the world the average height for men is several centimeters below 5'9 .

but for european males ages 18 to 45 or maybe 18 - 50 the average height is around 5'10

I calculated the average height for europeans from a site that seemed pretty accurate and I calculated an average of 178.8 or something like that I dont remember fully but it was something around that . and since I am assuming the measurements were earlier in the day it seems 5'10 give or take a bit seems accurate . I also saw a site that gave the average height for young european men as 177.6cm . around 5'10 is bang on average for non elderly european men it seems

some of the averages you are giving seem a bit too high for me I doubt that the dutch have a 6'1.5 average and that the scandinavians have a 5'11.5 - 6'0 average . especially not when we are talking about evening heights

@Christian 6'5 3/8"

I am talking about ethnic european men from ages 18 to maybe 45 or 50 or so and when I am talking about usa I am talking about white men between 18 and 45-50

Hi Rob,
I saw a site which suggested that the average height for 21 year olds is 5ft 9.8ins or 177.4cm. As I've read a few times on this site that the average for young guys in the UK is 178cm, I was wondering whether the figure of 177.4cm was accurate or whether the average has gone beyond that now for young guys.
Editor Rob
In the UK it has varied over a few mm range, but getting hold of all the figures for each year the 'national health survey' is published isn't so easy.
cmillzz said on 7/Aug/19

cmillzz said on 7/Aug/19
The difference between 5’6 and 5’9 definitely seems more striking to me than the difference between 5’9 and 6’0, despite both being 3 inch differences. 5’6 guys tend to have short proportions that you don’t really see in 5’9 guys. 6’0 men, while solidly above average don’t tend to have the same β€œtall” proportions that you see in 6’2 men, if that makes any sense.
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 7/Aug/19
If you don't specifically say only ethnic European men of a certain age when you mention the average height of a country, that creates confusion. I think I've heard you say before that the US average is 5'10", but you didn't specify that it was only young and middle aged white men. Obviously the US average isn't 5'10" when you include men of all ages and races.

I think even if you include men up to 45 years old or so the average is 5'10 for a european man

as I said I also dont think it makes sense to include immigrants unlike they are from northern west asian region since we are also caucasian people (even though swarthier haha) ...I mean like I said : why would I care if I am tall in indonesia or peru or vietnam or bolivia or whatever doesnt have any relevance in my life and the majority of people where I live are ethnic germans or other europeans and also many west asians . I dont include ethnic minorities who come from short countries I said not because of racism but it doesnt make any sense to include them

I mean if we are at it then I could say I am tall at 5'9.25 because of that ....when I stand next to certain people from certain countries I am a lot tallerthan them

As long at the tape measure looks to be intact and not damaged, then that may be the accurate one.

if you managed to get the tape measure and hold it beside the stadiometer (when you pull the stadiometer bar down to say 5ft)...that should tell you if the stadiometer is giving 2cm difference.

Hey Rob, would you mind sharing the schedule (exact time) the celebheights comments are updated/refreshed ? I noticed that on weekends you take a break, which is very fair :)
Editor Rob
A typical (UK time) day for me:

Wake up between 5-6am.

Do some work within 10 minutes of wakening. Be it moderating comments, researching heights, editing pages, coding, promoting...there's lots of different tasks in trying to keep the site ticking along.

At 8-8.30 I would take a walk to the shops for daily messages with Jenny, back for 9.30-10.

Have breakfast, a bath, then from 10.30-12 do more work.

12-1pm Lunch while watching a tv show.

1-2.30 head down to parents with messages for them and any work they need done I try to help.

2.30-3.30 Go out with Jenny for a walk.

3.30-5.30 more work on the site.

5.30-6.30 dinner and tv show.

6.30-9.30 Sometimes watch tv/movie or go out somewhere but if I'm at home I would maybe do a little bit more work on the site, not that much though about 30 minutes or so.

Some days I may well not manage much moderation because other tasks become more pressing.

Only rarely will I go a day without doing anything, and that's usually because I'm on a trip somewhere or doing an event with Jenny.

even if you're 6' it's still a very small eyelevel.Like 4 1/8"if I'm not wrong.Again I'm not claiming to know better than yourself but your head seemed quite well proportioned and not that small. If your eyelevel is 4 1/8"and your eye chin is like 5" it would appear quite clearly.I would have thought my father has the same kind of head (and about the same height)as you.Standing with head perfectly at level it could seem 4.4-.5for eye crown and 4.6-.7 for eye chin for a head about 9.1 which is average but slightly small for a 6'.Again you know better but judging from some vids your head gave me the same impression as his.Don't feel offended if it's not the case.
You might not have raised your head consciously but an involuntary raise like 0.25-0.5 might go undetected, just stating my opinion of course.

@c-mo - Nah, I call that bs saying the average young white guy in Europe is only a cm shorter than me. 176? Yeah I might buy that but I wouldn't go any higher. I tower over too many for it to be so close to my height, especially when I went to London. In Sweden the average guy is 5'9.75" from my observations, include immigrants which is now like 40% of our country and you find out it's more 5'9" bcuz the immigrants are like 5'7" barely on average. In London it was about 5'8".

@c-mo Just because some sites have the average height down as 5'10 it doesn't mean it actually is, not all surveys are accurate. Well ive seen way more 5'8 guys walking about than 5'10 guys, besides you're only talking about the average height for the young generation and you're not taking the average height for all ages of men into account which is supposedly 5'9 but im inclined to say that it actually is 5'8 because ive seen a lot more men at that height, theres even more 5'7ers than 5'9-5'10ers. Even if the average isnt 5'8 and it really is 5'9, 3 inches above it is enough to be considered tall. The average height for young guys is 5'10 yes, but for all ages no it isnt it's 5'9.

@Nik and @cmillzz

I really dont know what you are basing your opinions on . are you including old men and ethnic minorities like southeast asians , indians etc. into your judgement of height ? I dont . I only care about height of young or at least relaitvely young men (like up to 45 or 50 years old max) and ethnic europeans or MAYBE also including northwest asians (Turkey , Iran , Georgia , Armenia , Azerbaijan , Lebanon etc.)

and not because of racism or whatever but why should I include people who come from a country where the average height of a man could be 165cm ? I also dont care if I would be "tall" in Indonesia or Peru or wherver because I live in Europe so I care mostly about average european heights and I am a young man so I wont include 80 year olds who were not only shorter back then but also lost height lol

so basically young caucasian men and the average height for a young caucasian man is around 177.5cm at night roughly give or take a smidge ....definitely something around there because the average young european man is 178.5cm or so I calculated from some sites but I am assuming they were morning measurments mostly so I am subtracting a little and I also read that the average height for europe is 177.6cm on another site . so it is basically around 5'10 either way

and 6'0 is 2 inches above and 5'8 is 2 inches below . 6'0 is above average but I wouldnt call it tall tbh. . and 5'8 is below average but not that short . but pretending as if 5'8 is a solid average height and 6'0 is tall seems like wishful thinking to me no offense . legit tall starts at a legit 6'1 and you talked as if 5'7 is not short is is just not THAT short and can still blend in somehow and will SOMETIMES look at least A BIT averageISH but 5'7 is definitely on the smaller side and 5'6 is plain short lol how can you even talk as if 5'6 is not short

I’m a strong 6ft (185.5cm in the morning to 183.5cm-184cm at a low) and I feel legit tall in the general population and young guys of all races in America, the average for the 20-39 age group is about 5’9.5”. However, around non-Hispanic white guys in the same age group the average is a solid 5’10” and I’m really more tallish (slightly over 75th percentile) at my majority white university. I’m often among the tallest if not the tallest guy around but there are many instances where a big portion of guys in the hallway or at a party are 6’0”+ and thus feel just above average. 6’1” is probably where legit tall would start around young white guys while 6’0” is really the start of tall/tallish.

@ Connor - Always look on the brighter side! You are are true 6ft, which is many a guy's dream height - and you are young, so years away from suffering from any height-loss.

I can understand that an inch or two would be welcome, but the reason for this is to act as 'height to fall back on' in the future, when height-loss sets in. However, just think positively, Connor: you have around three decades to look forward to as a 6-footer; now that IS something to celebrate!

@Miss Sandy Cowell Yeah i feel pretty tall at 6'0 it's a nice height but not quite tall enough for me, even though i am taller than most people im not really that much taller than guys at my age since the average height for us young guys is 5'10 so i can kind of understand why some posters say that 6'0 is'nt quite tall but yeah im not too much taller than the average for my generation, to be honest with you im not 100% satisfied with my height.

If i were 6'1 or 6'2 that would be preferable for me and id feel more solidly tall in that range, 6'0.5 would even do for me and if i was either of those heights i would never go below the 6'0 mark at my low even on a very bad day, i hate dipping under it but it is what it is, overall 6'0 is a moderately tall height nothing gigantic but anyway I hope you have a great weekend Sandy bye for now.

Idk If this is my real height or not, I feel as if It's not my real height or some kind of cheating, because If I don't pull my head towards back, I would measure 172cm again.
What would you say Rob?
Editor Rob
'Busting a gut' like standing tall and breathing in gives your maximum height, sometimes it's only 2-3mm different than what you measure if you just stand tall, but others could get 5-7mm difference.

It's not a huge difference really when you think about it.
Ndomingu said on 1/Aug/19
Hi, Rob. I have a question on how accurate height can be measured at public places with stadiometers/general height charts/hand ruler like things vs measuring tapes. I’ve noticed my height gets a lot of diverse results.

At some public places the lowest I can be measured at is 5’7 1/2” and other times it can be 5’8” or 5’8 1/2” (even randomly somewhere between 5’8” and 5’9”).

When my father who is over 6 ft by an inch or two measured me with a measuring tape he said I was almost 5’9” (not sure how close fraction wise, I just was told it wasn’t far from it) from 3-4pm and I think 5’8 1/2” in the very evening hours before.

So, my question is which method do you think is more successful for accuracy? Is one way always right or wrong? I do find that pretty odd to get some way different results like that, but I usually overall claim a weak 5’9” flat since that’s the most I have found myself measured at and because it was with a standard measuring tape in afternoon hours. Have you ever encountered many situations like that for yourself or known for anyone else before? Just curious.
Editor Rob
A tape measure that isn't bent or doesn't have damage to the end is the first thing.

The second is the wall/floor can have an effect - it might seem a floor is flat, but sometimes it slopes and could knock a cm from your height.

Some devices that are used a lot, may have issues too, like cheap stadiometers or 'beam' measuring devices.
Csimpson6ft said on 1/Aug/19
Rob my eyelevel is at between 5'7 3/4 and 5'7 7/8ths, i guess i too can look taller at my height right?
Editor Rob
Yes, it means the vast majority of folk will think of you as six foot range rather than if you had an eyelevel near 5ft 7, then a fair amount might think of you as shorter.
Miss Sandy Cowell said on 1/Aug/19

yeah the last year or so, particularly since May 2018 when GDPR (EU) privacy regulations kicked in, means the site has taken a hit in terms of ad rates.

In traffic terms, the site has been at a pretty consistent level for the last few years.

But with lower ad rates for longer periods, throwing up new content during these those times isn't going to help as much as it might during periods when rates are better and extra views are worth more.

I wish I didn't need to consider such things and if the site was a side-venture, hobby or comfortable earner, it would be a lot more immediate!

Rob as someone who only discovered celebheights earlier this year can you give a brief summary of the Big G inside joke, I often see it and feel left out.
Editor Rob
Big G is an autograph dealer from The Bronx, who was a contributor from 2005-2009. He met a lot of celebs on the streets and claimed to be 5ft 8. It turned out his evening height was around 5ft 6 5/8ths when I eventually measured him, a fact he has erased from memory since he still tells people he's 5ft 8.

Hi Rob if on a lazy day (only sitting at computer, sedentary) I am 185,2 cm at morning on a lazy day 20 minutes after sleep, 184.6 cm 3 hours after bed, 184.2 cm 7-8 hours out of bed, then at the end of the day at night I'm 183.6 cm... but that's on the lazy day.

In a working day (walking, play soccer) I'm 184.4 cm 3 hours after bed, 184 cm exactly 6 hours after wake up (before lunch at 2 pm), and 183.3 cm at night at 9-10 pm... my extreme low in an active day it's 182.9 cm

So overall what height should I claim? 183 or 184?
Editor Rob
If you never want to be questioned or thought of as being shorter than your claim, then 183 would mean most people would think 'this guy is bloody honest'...even saying 184 seems reasonable enough, given you can be 185 range in the morning.

The key thing is if you give a height you measure barefoot, then ultimately it's not wrong and is better than half the population who add 1-5cm to their heights.
Ashutosh said on 30/Jul/19

Sakz said on 30/Jul/19
@cmillz I think 'too short' would be somewhere under 5'5. At 5'6 you won't look short to the point where you stand out, like how at 6'0 you don't look tall to the point where you stand out.

I wish I didn't even have to consider such things as ad rates 😫, but it's necessary to be able to continue running the site.

Yes, some days you might undertake more activites that cause greater strain on the spine, resulting in a few mm worse off than other days. Also, hydration levels may have a tiny effect on height as well.

That range is a bit too tall
6'5 is way too tall. I saw someone today must have been strong 6'4 it looked massive.

I just can't see how that would ever be an ideal height. Even 6'4 isn't ideal for most people.
I agree with cmillzz: "if I had an ideal range, it might be 5’11-6’3."
I'd actually say 5'10 to 6'2 for a narrower range.

I do agree that at least being 6'4-6'5 you won't have issues with the normal doorframes. 6'6+ is where real concern about aesthetics and health etc come into play.

5'9 though not a bad height is just a bit too low nowadays.
If you ask 20 guys what height they would like to be or what they feel is ideal, I bet most will say 5'11-6'3
With 6'1 and 6'2 most popular.
Don't think anyone would day 5'9 or even 5'10...
But everyone has their opinion!

@cmillzz said on 25/Jul/19
MPB is very nearly 100% genetic

Yes but the process that causes it can occur for some medical reasons or even environmental such as someone taking steroids and causing more conversion to DHT.

Also the process can be exacerbated and those genetically susceptible will get hardest.

It's almost like cancer or heart disease.
These are also largely genetic but you can have some influence on how severe it will be.

We are in a different era now where all these fortified foods , genetically modified foods, pollution in the air can really hit our bodies hard

I guess there are some habits that contribute to some of the loss.I would say we aren't even conscious of some practices that may favor loss.Science is still at its beginning in that field.Once we will know the whole process hair goes by through life we may find a way to prevent the loss even before it starts.Obviously I imagine that there won't be as much money invested on that as we would get on health research which is understandable.
To look 17 at 38 is surprising to say the least.I mean there are signs that just betray the difference between adolescencts and people who crossed that period since 20 years.Maybe you're among the guys who still manage to keep a boyish face despite ageing but that's something really exceptional.Once in a french social show they brought a guy aged 39 who spoke about how he was often asked to bring his parents as people thought he wasn't yet 18.However he had no beard at all and most importantly a frame that didn't develop(no pectoral muscles),this besides the fact that he seemed quite short(not sure probably somewhere around 5'5-6).These physical features that occur generally through puberty will distinguish children from adolsecents then adolescents from fully grown adults(although beard is still misleading at times).Other facial features are probably what give the approxiamate idea of someone's age.One is lucky to look younger than his/her age by a few years but over 20 years? That's extremely rare

Csimpson6ft said on 26/Jul/19
@Canson i respectfully disagree, guys who are legitimately 6'5 can be 6'7 in some footwear but usually 6'6ish in most shoes and they can have problems with doorframes and having to duck underneath them quite a lot but i guess it depends on the height of the doorframe if its taller than yourself then you wont have to duck, but anyway i would say it actually is the start of too tall imo because 6'5 guys can even also struggle to fit in cars sometimes, i bet even 6'4 guys like yourself experience these problems sometimes, im not saying 6'4 and 6'5 are particularly bad heights they have advantages but being that tall can be problematic at times.

I am 18 years old. After coming to this site, I came to know that there is difference between morning and evening height. So I have measured exactly 174.6cm after being awake for 5-6hrs. What can I claim?
Is that height considered short among my age group in England or UK?
Editor Rob
It is likely you are 175-6 zone within 1 minute of wakening....

I think you fall into 'almost' 5ft 9 range. Many guys with your height would just round up to 175cm or 5ft 9, but it's up to you really.

Some might even round down to 174cm or 5ft 8.5...though, comparatively few would do that.

The difference from your head to the door frame looks bigger than a 5" difference (since you're around 6'1" in those shoes I'm assuming), but that could be due to the angle of the pic.

I'm not a trichologist, but having thicker hair probably means that it's less likely that you're going bald. I've always been told that I have relatively thick hair ever since I was a child, so I'm likely not going bald anytime soon. One of the early symptoms of balding is the thinning of hair.

Yeah it depends. Male pattern Hair loss like height is not all genetic.
Environment and lifestyle play a role
I think stress can exacerbate it in some people.
Other hair loss like thyroid or vitamin deficiency or alopecia areata are different than the testosterone hair loss.

40s is pretty common for men to lose a severe amount of hair. Your dad is like mine. Started at 40ish and by 50s leveled off

Some men start then stop then start again.
I'm almost 30 and had a bout of loss throughout mid 20s. It's stopped now that I'm on treatment and it's a bit thicker now. Goes to show it come on all of a sudden and go easily unnoticed if you dont pay attention.
Most presidents do not age well throughout their tenure in office as the nature of the job is very stressful.

16 is very young to get gray hair. Though I knew an Asian guy in my high school who had a few. I do not know if it was due to vitamin deficiency issues.
But yeah at least you can color it!

Hair loss is not just from mother's side though it may be less likely to follow the male relatives on mother's side than father's. Like height, genetic hairloss is complex and to a certain degree manipulated by environment.

All men lose hair it's just a matter of when and how much.

Anyway going with 'just over 5ft 10' is good for you IMO!
ajax509 said on 24/Jul/19
I'm like 178.9cm first thing in the morning and 176.9cm at my normal low. Reach is about 176.4cm IMO still ok. But if you look at the NBA you will find athletes with 10" reach advantage over their own towering height. I assume in taller men there's probably a wider range.
Do I remember correctly Greg claimed 181cm out of bed with 178.4cm at low and a reach of just over 187cm?

Would guess my shoulder width is pretty normal with slightly shorter arms and smaller hands.

You usually get male pattern baldness from your mother's father. Luckily my mom's dad had a thick head of hair. But it doesn't explain how my cousins have lost some hair, though their dad "My Uncle" is bald. I guess you can still get the make pattern bald Gene from your dad as well

@ Christian - Hi! The only time I ever felt tempted to try another height site was the first time Celebheights was down. It was so boring that I rather watched TV.

I found CH late September of 2016, and, impulsive that I am, I left two short comments that very day. A few days later, I was interested in the height of another Celeb, but this time he wasn't there, but he is now! I wasn't unduly concerned and started rooting around for all sorts of actors and musicians. Then I came across the comments I had left on my last visit, and I was very excited! The only website I had properly visited had been a Liv Tyler fansite, and our comments went up immediately. I can't see any of Liv's fans possibly leaving horrid messages, but I did once come across someone who'd written something untoward about Salma Hayek, and, boy, did I have something to say about that! She is a very clever lady - and mighty beautiful, not unlike Liv, but standing together, there's a huge height difference, as you can imagine. There was no need to put her down for it though....

Initially, I was very worried about my sudden height loss, and I had reason to be, as I needed a hip replacement operation. What I'd like to do one day is to go to the very same Tesco weighing scales, late in the evening, and see how much height I have regained; I fear my Dad might have been overly nice to me when he said I am 5ft1.75, morning height. I still can't reach things I could before, at 5ft2.5!

Cheers Christian! xxx πŸ˜πŸ‘

Interestingly,my mother told me he managed to keep all his hair until he was 45 (but possibly loss started by 42-43),what's sure is that by early 50's it was already very advanced, probably 60%+loss.Yet today at nearly 67 he still has some hair though probably no more than 10% of the initial quantity. So surprisingly the most important loss was in a quite short period, roughly 8 years and mainly in the mid late 40's.
Also I'm not sure if I could give credit to this but many spoke about how stress (mental of course) could cause hair to turn grey. Many spoke of Obama as an example actually Click Here

I'm 5'10 and I'd definitely feel the difference if I were 2 inches taller. I still think the threshold of tall begins at 6'0, but you're so used to being 5'11.25 (If you were measured 181, that's 5'11.25, unless you meant 181.5 or something), so you're 1cm and change smaller than 6'0 or really are 2cm under 6'0. For you, you'd probably not see much difference being that much taller, but if you were suddenly 6'1, you'd feel the difference right away.

Yes that's true it's mostly genetic but it's genes that causes the hair to be sensitive to the strong form of testosterone called DHT.
Things can exacerbate this process prematurely (perhaps turning on the switch earlier than it would be).
There are other things that make

As for gray I'm not sure if if something similar can happen where it can be premature due to environmental factors.
It's normal to start losing hair in 20s though some guys have it in teens but that's not too common. I thought gray was 30s though some of my peers had it in late teens maybe vitamin deficiency or something.

And I agree wrinkles aren't fun either. For men gray or hair loss is a very acceptable thing and at 50-60+ most don't care anymore.
Wrinkles are really a pain.

But as you say health is most important.

Because all my life I've seen myself as average and no one has ever described me as anything but, yet people say 6 foot is tall. If I was 2cm taller I don't think my perspective would change much. 6 foot guys don't really stand out much from you're average 5'9/5'10 guy so I don't get it. In my opinion tall starts at 6'2/6'3 plus.

I think, Rob, that a big reason why your Celebheights has become such a success is the warmth in the way it is presented. When you reply to us, we now get what I call 'A Rob', that picture of you that appears whenever you give somebody a reply, and this adds to the friendliness of the site. It's part of human nature to want to know how people look and sound, and you do the both of these things with your enjoyable videos, and if anyone hasn't seen any yet, I cannot recommend them highly enough!

One of the most exciting things this site has to offer is your Comparison Pictures. So many of us are movie-mad and, in my case, rock star mad, and we pay good money to see these bands, and though they do lack the personal treatment, the memory of a good concert stays with us for ever.

Cheers Rob and carry on the excellent work with this very individual, warm and unique website. Wishing you and Jenny and all the visitors a great weekend!

That's pretty nice, I wish I could reach that age without having white hair, but I doubt it will happen!
I don't see anymore those 3-4 white eyebrows that I had, weird...but anyway, since men are more likely to get white/grey hair than women, and my mother got it so early, it probably means that I'm very likely to get it soon either way.
I wonder if there is a correlation between blonde/dark hair and either grey or white hair; maybe if you are blonde you tend more to the white, and vice versa?

Actually it's true that testosterone plays a major role for hair loss, but genetics also do,I guess it's like for heart problems, when a gene is running in the family although of course the two things can't have a further comparison since the first doesn't involve complications.
Another unlucky dude about hair loss was one whose hair receding was extremely advanced as early as 23 although still not bald and looking roughly 25-27.The luckiest dude on this matter was a 62 year old who despite having a pony tail since over 40 years (I brought the hair subject with him) has still all his hair and the ponytail itself and not that much grey hair.
The worst aging indicator remains wrinkles if you ask me,that's probably what's noticed first on a face along with hair.I once saw a 13 year old boy who had already 2 visible lines on his forehead (expression wrinkles though) while there was a woman who managed to have no visible wrinkle by 43.Obviously there are natural changes on the face as we age that we can hardly change like skin losing elasticity, having hairy ears and so on.Still I would say that the best thing is to age well on the health level

I had a similar growth pattern to you (6’2.5 at 18, 6’3-6’3.25 at 19, 6’3.75-6’4 at 20), but I somehow gained 2 inches after 21. Late growth definitely seems to be more common in taller people.

Prescription medications can definitely stunt growth unfortunately. I have a cousin who's around 11 who has taken Ritalin for years due to ADHD, and he's very small for his age, even though both of his parents are around average height. (5'4" mom and 5'8" dad)

I find it insane that some men start to go gray in their 20's. I know one guy who was 28 at the time and partially had gray hair, but that's the only 20's guy that I've seen with gray hair as far as I can remember.

@ Rob - Software and technology is still fairly new to me, but I can't help but notice that practically every site I poke my nose into suggests that you update now, or perhaps put it off for a bit, which is usually the option I take! Running your own website leaves the responsibility all down to you. I remember it happening just once before, and as it was when I was bed ridden, I was chronically bored that day! πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Sometimes I like the idea of being more anonymous online, and pre 2005 I am not sure there are any photos of myself online. On a site like this, people are generally anonymous, unless they willingly reveal information. I still don't know much about some long-term visitors, beyond a name and location and maybe self-declared height.

But with this website, becoming the face of it means giving up anonymity. I don't mind it now, I actively get my face out there ;)

I do recommend being cautious about information you reveal to websites. People divulge far too much, sometimes unintentionally.

@Zober: you’d be 6’2 7/8 which is good for 6’3”

Because of the foods. More hormones in it and fortification in terms of vitamins and nutrients.
The age of menarche for girls declined tremendously which means they mature faster in height as well.

I call some of this "unnatural" growth or genetically engineered growth.

Fourteen months flies by the older you get. Manelia is still very kittenish in her appearance and mannerisms. It's Erramius's 12th Birthday today, and at six weeks three days, she is the youngest kitten we've ever had. She grew into a duplicate of her white Mum. Her Dad and her two siblings were jet black.

Thank you very much for your good wishes Rob! I still feel hot and cold and my headache is horrific. 😝 I imagine that I need a course of antibiotics. This is the fifth day of the blasted illness! What fun - AND no telly! 😒

So it's Celebheights for me tonight and music, but. I can't see myself staying up very late. πŸ›Œ

With all good wishes to all!

Because I essentially am working every day, sometimes time gets lost...but other times it seems I manage a lot as some events seemed longer ago than they actually were.

@Myself: I’m 37 1/2 now but have not seen a grey yet. All genetics tho as my father and mother both have different patterns. My mother had none until she was late 40s I believe and my father got his in his 20s or 30s

Tree and Nik - There was a boy in my class who went by the name of Tree. His real name was Simon, and he shot up in height in the last couple of our school years to be really rather tall. He shared my taste in music. I knew because he decorated his books with the names and logos of his favourite bands. He had blond curly hair and lived near to our Geography/English teacher. This teacher, Mr Vaughan, was about the best teacher any kid could have wished for. He drove all the kids who lived in his locality to school AND he took PE - not bad for a man well into his fifties. He had so much to talk about. He even saw the volcano Krakatoa blazing away, though technically it was dormant.

In the fifth year, he brought me right of my shell with English. He had 5 children of his own and classes full of them at the school where he taught. He talked about The Two Ronnies in his lessons and much more besides. I recall how much admiration he had for both the Ronnies. Mr Vaughan told us that Ronnie Barker wrote under the pseudonym of Gerald Wiley, and he had much admiration for little Ronnie as he sat in his huge chair digressing from subject to subject. Apparently, it was done pretty much off the cuff.

I'd like to know that today's children have an equally enthusiastic teacher, because what they teach us comes back throughout our lifetimes. My brother and myself still have conversations about Mr Vaughan. Not bad for all those years ago.

If any of his children should read this, I'd like them to know that their Dad is remembered with great affection.

Hi Rob! I remember precisely a year ago today that Celebheights was closed. I had SO wanted to use this emoji (πŸ“…), because I'd forgotten the year before and could have kicked myself! It's only a rare occurrence that comments would be down for maintenance, usually if certain software is needing updated.

With web servers, they are being scanned and probed all the time so you need to make sure software is updated to latest versions to fix bugs/exploits. 😡

Heights are barefeet estimates, derived from quotations, official websites, agency resumes, in person encounters with actors at conventions and pictures/films.

Other vital statistics like weight, shoe or bra size measurements have been sourced from newspapers, books, resumes or social media.
