I entered the Naval Academy at age 20 and took up boxing. At this point in my life, I was a 147-pound welterweight. I turned to weight lifting after I was forced to quit boxing due to a knee injury. Within a year, I had gained more than 30 pounds of muscle. Needless to say, my six-foot frame was much better suited to my new 180-pound physique.
In 1994 (posing for Muscular Development magazine)...I was perhaps 212 pounds...but muscular and fit, and I thought my six-foot frame handle that amount of weight well...Today (2001) I'm 192 pounds.
