Yes, under 5'4 is very short but for me 6'6.75 or more is giant

Men born in the 50's-70's are the tallest ones. The average is getting shorter. The human height peaked 30-40 years ago but is now getting shorter again, I'm talking worldwide.

But it'll probably go up like crazy in the 22nd century considering we'll be able to play with our genes and DNA codes.

It really must give you a good laugh when you think of those incidents! In fact tears of laughter!

@ Nik - Indeed it is!
And there have been many, many other similar such incidents in those 34 years!

It would have been easier to just put Christian! Ha ha. Your name is nearly as long as Rampage Clovers!

Sadly too many people are superficial, men are just as bad but probably not over. height. most people are not superficial though.

There are men who are 5'4" who appreciate having a girlfriend far more than some much taller men. It really is a shame because that one 5'4" man could also be that one person who could turn water to wine but he may not get a chance with the superficial women because far less significant things like height or whatever will attract them to someone else.

It depends on where you live whether 5'4'" or 6'4" is more common as a height for men, in the area of England where I live 5'4" is significantly more common than 6'4".

This little chap reminds me of an onlooker of a funny incident from the 80's.
My mate Mick, the stationmaster at my local railway station, and my good self were absolutely bent up double laughing at his public farting display! I noticed sitting on a bench a little bloke the spit of Alec coughing and spluttering with laughter too! That made it even more memorable. Then all three of us were wiping the tears away!
That was one Spring evening in 1983! Now, on this fine Spring evening, I am going to give Alec 5ft4!

I've certainly seen more than 1 in 100 6'4 people, though I live in the south with lots of Scandinavian descent young white men who tend to be taller than city folk. 6ft4 is about as common as 5'4 for a male. It's rare but I'd guess its more like 1 in 40-30 for young men not 1 in 100. That's insane. There would be only a few dozen 6'4+ at a campus if that were true. But still I see 6'3+ every day. I think Average range is around 5'9 but closer to 10 than 8. So anywhere from 5'8-10 can be considered in the average range for men. But I do consider 5'7-8 to be below average but not short. I feel spot on average most of the time, but if I were flipping a coin I'd say more men are taller than me than shorter but its close

As for some shallow women, they tend to think most men below 5'11 aren't ideal height and below 5'7 is pretty much unattractive.

The height of men has absolutely no bearing on whether a man is good looking or not, it has no bearing on personality (which is the thing that matters) either. You probably both agree!

Good point.

In my opinion it goes like this for guys in the West. Keep in mind this is a superficial standard based on what it seems girls would think.

Over 6'5 -- giant
6'3 - 6'5 -- very tall
6'0 - 6'2 -- tall
5'9 - 5'11 -- average
5'6 - 5'8 -- short
5'3 - 5'5 -- very short
Below 5'3 -- borderline dwarf

------

The range of your chart is a bit narrow. I don't think 6ft5 is gigantic, neither is 5ft3 dwarf. But unfortunately many superficial girls think otherwise.

Ok, let's do some math.

According to the statistic if you're 6'4"+ in US then you're in the 99.637 percentile.

So as a result we will get that of 1 000 000 people, 3,630 are 6'4"+.
Ben said on 13/Apr/17
@Christian

I live in Malmo, Sweden. We have every tall standards here and I do see a legit 6'4" guy every once in a while.
But I think 1:100 is a little too much. I would more say that it is 0.5:100 (If that makes sense...) are taller than 6'4".
I dunno where you live but I'm counting the average country since there's only a few countries that has a taller average than 5'9"-5'10".

But if you mean countries like the nordic countries then yes I could I agree with you :)
Christian-196.2cm (6ft5.25) said on 13/Apr/17
@Ben

1 in 100 men are 6'4"+, in the US. Perhaps you live in a rural area where you don't see many people, that's maybe why you very rarely see a 6'4" person. If you visit a large city, of course you'll see a lot more 6'4" people, only because there's a very big population. And you'll see a lot more short people as well. For example, A small town has a population of 1,000 and 10 of them are 6'4"+, and a large city has a population of 1,000,000 and 10,000 of them are 6'4+. The city contains more tall people obviously, just because of the much larger population, but the ratio is still the same. (1:100)

@Christian

If you think about it, how often do we see someone who's legit 6'2"-6'4" or taller? Almost never, so I would classify 6'4"+ as giant.
My classmate is 6'4.75" and he says he never meets anyone taller than, he has seen some people taller than him tho.
Ben said on 13/Apr/17
@Nik Thanks, I would argue that the older generation starts from 50-60 or so.
Christian-196.2cm (6ft5.25) said on 13/Apr/17
@Ben

If 5'9" is average, 6'2" is definitely not "giant", neither is 6'4". But it all depends on your definition of giant though. My definition, is anything more than 10-11" taller than the average height of a country/region.
Nik said on 12/Apr/17
@Peter

I agree with Ben, I don't buy that 5'10" is only average. I have been out in public near to where I live (England) and I have often felt, at 5'7,5", spookily close to the average height for a man! I could see higher 5'8's as average far more easily than 5'10".
Nik said on 11/Apr/17
@Ben

The older generation of men includes men who are over what age?
Ben said on 11/Apr/17
@Peter175

Nah, 5'10" IS above average for the younger generation and the older generation. Does it seem like it? No, because so most people lies about their height and say that they are taller. FΓΆr example many 5'9" guys will say that they are 5'11" and so on.

Younger generation for men:

5'6 and below = Short
5'7"-5'8" = Below average
5'8"-5'9" = Average
5'10" = Above average
5'11" = The start of being tall
6' = Noticebly tall
6'1" = Very tall
6'2"-6'3" = True "Alpha male" height
6'4" and up = Basically a giant

Older generation for men:

5'5"-5'6" and below = Short
5'6"-5'7" = Below average
5'7"-5'8 = Average
5'9" = Above average
5'10" = The start of being tall
5'11" = Noticebly tall
6' = Very tall
6'1" = Very, very tall
6'2" and up = Giant
Peter175 said on 8/Apr/17
Good List Christian196 but I wouldn't say 5'10 is above average. It's just average. Change 5'11 and 6ft to above average range and 5'9-10 as average.

As for Alec, yes short guy but he looks happy and is secure enough to correct a full inch of his height. I know guys who are even 5'11+ who would gladly take the inch lol
Realist said on 8/Apr/17
They made him look 5'2 on hakf and half because they wore heels well the curvy Rachel True did she was like 4 cms taller than Essence Atkins tops but 25 or 30 lbs heavier.

Very short starts at 5'3.75"/162cm for 20-39yos (5'9.5 average), which marks the 2.5 percentile or -2 standard deviations. 5'4" is 3rd percentile which is still within regular short range but just barely. Obviously I'm splitting hairs over a quarter inch and a 5'4 guy will still get labeled as very short more often than not.

I'm 182cm. For me, a 5'4 guy is very short, but men who are 5'9-5'10 could consider him just short.
Christian-196.2cm (6ft5.25) said on 8/Apr/17
dwarf - under 4'10"
very short - 4'11"-5'3"
short - 5'4"-5'6"
below average - 5'7"-5'8"
average - 5'9"-5'9.5"
above average - 5'10"-6'0"
tall - 6'1"-6'3"
very tall - 6'4"-6'7"
giant - over 6'8"
VeryShortRussianDude said on 7/Apr/17
Rob, would you consider 5'4 the beginning of very short for a man? or would you say it's tall enough to just be considered short?
Editor Rob
RussianDude, it might be the crossover range, from short to very short.

For me, I think it's still within a short range. Very short might be 5ft 3 and under.
